Shotgun Messiah - I'm your love. Very intense and mean riff, sounds like late Rhoads. I know everyone knows about their Heartbreak Blvd., but this one is a diamond in the rough. White Lion - If My Mind Is Evil. Very Lynch-like sounding riff, quite intimidating and impressive. Extreme - Little Girls.. Nuno deeply nodded to Aerosmith with this epic piece of music. Pantera - Proud To Be Loud. I know it was cover of Keel's song. But the way how Dime played it... Just flawless! Steve Stevens - Pet The Hot Kitty. Its's very easy and fun to play. But Steve showed his skills to write a memorable riffs again. Bluesy and groovy! King's X - Over My Head. Must have for everyone who's into rock guitar. It has Hendrix vibes, yet Tabor's signature tone! Harem Scarem - No Justice. I know it has a stunning solo. But riff is very challenging and full of these syncopated notes. Tesla - No Way Out. D-tuned masterpiece! What a groove!

In fact Adrian Vandenberg didn’t play on any Whitesnake album until 1997’s “Restless Heart” (apart from redoing the solo on Here I go again on 1987). He also did the acoustic live album “Starkers in Tokyo” and that’s it.

Steve Vai played all the guitars on "Slip of The Tongue" due to Adrian's wrist injury as the other gentleman stated above. Adrian in interviews always stated he regretted not playing in the studio on "Slip of the Tongue" as he had some different ideas from Steve. Also for the "Judgenent Day" riff Steve plays the "A Power Chord" in open position the with open A string and first finger on the 2nd Fret on the D string and not at the 5th Fret E string and 7th fret A string.

These are some songs I loved from the 80's. Junkyard song Hollywood, Jetboy song Feel the Shake, Rock City Angels song Deep Inside My Heart, Circus of Power song Motor, Every Mother's Nightmare song Walls Come Down EMN formed in 1987 but their first studio album did not come out till April of 1990 still a band from the tail end of the 80's.

That song is amazing on so many levels, also how many Alice Cooper references can one fit into a song (and even from "Dada" album, 'I need a vodka quick'), it's really cool!

Really unique approach to the solo section chords too...seems dumb-cluck simplistic to just move up the scale once every four counts, but it works amazingly well...every bar seems novel and surprising and casually defies all the clichés.

There were a lot mentioned that I have always thought were the great unknown, underrated riffs of the 80s. However, two bands that I rarely see get mentioned in these kind of things is Heaven edge with songs like “skin to skin” and “Don’t stop, don’t go”. Some great riffs and lead playing on those songs. Another one is the band Spread eagle with “ switch blade, serenade”, and “broken city”. Spread Eagle was one of those bands that had very talented musicians that just sounded so gritty, and raw. The intro build up to switch blade. Serenade is just pure, in your face, 80s metal.

If that counts, Hardline's Taking Me Down and Rhythm For A Red Car! Came out in 92' but it's so 80's. It's actually Neal Schon on guitar on that entire album, and the latter riff was actually made on Steve Vai's 7 string :D Will also add so many riffs from the first Firehouse album! Shake and Tumble, Overnight Sensation, Lover's Lane :)

Kane Roberts was awesome in Alice Cooper and Solo. Michael Weikath and Kai Hansen in 80ies Helloween + André Olbrich and Marcus Siepen in Blind Guardian
