Thank you, I was driving a car under-age and was pulled over. I calmly had a conversation with the police officer and respectively talked my way out of a ticket thanks to you guys.

I’m a 20 year old white guy who’s never committed a crime but I have long hair. I’ve been pulled over and immediately drug dogged for going 4 over. I’ve been pulled over for going the SPEED LIMIT (apparently that’s suspicious). I’ve been asked to consent to searches for most traffic stops and then harassed about not consenting being asked why I wouldn’t consent if I don’t have anything to hide, I’ve been stopped minding my own business taking a walk down my cities nature path, I was arrested for “wavering during field sobriety” (it was 25 degrees outside and i was nervous and wearing slides) and then had police attempt to get me to admit to taking drugs and had a drug recognition officer tell me he suspected me of being on a stimulant because my heart rate was elevated but I’m sitting in a police station of course My heart rate is elevated. I’ve also had a cop write me a ticket for failure to provide proof of insurance even though I had the insurance card and when I went back in to contest it I used the exact same slip I gave him and it was totally fine. Out of the 15-20 police encounters I’ve had I can recall exactly 2 of those encounters where the officer treated me the way I’d hope any stranger would treat me. If I were you I’d find a different line of work. It’s not that you’re not a good cop because I’m sure you are. It’s that being a police officer means you are sworn to uphold predatory practices and quotas to wring money out of taxpayers for the state, protect insurance companies, and ruin nonviolent petty drug offenders lives in order to protect the interests of billionaire private prison owners and their shareholders. It’s not about good cops and bad cops it’s about how America’s police force has become a overbloated militarized group of thugs who are there to follow orders from greedy and corrupt politicians without question. In return the rich and affluent who you protect pass laws ensuring that it’s almost impossible for police to be held accountable for any wrongdoing. Individual officers can’t be held accountable and all lawsuits are directed at the precinct or the department which have unlimited funding and protection from all sides.

My friend is a retired RCMP and he was fair and firm which people can respect.I have been stopped for walking at night and asked were I'm coming from and going to.Then I'm asked for my name. This is NOT a legal stop in Canada.I am ex-government 26 year and I don't like being stopped because of the rotation of the earth or the Police State we are now living in.Police used to serve and protect. I can tell that you are not a power hungry person and I hope you stay safe for your family

Great video series and very informative.. . Since we know cops are on a power trip . Dont feed or bruise their Ego Just Be polite, and as phoney as you have to to make it short and sweet. The Longer you are in a cops company, the worse it will be. if you DONT FUEL the situation there is nothing there for him and he will go away, or he perhaps gived u a single ticket. His encounter with you should be as BORING as possible , and he will be thinking more of his Cofffee and Donuts .

I have not seen the video yet but just seeing your comment is making me cringe. You mentioned you were an Police Officer and I had a question. When people file a complaint against the police does it truly accomplish anything? Or is it just for show? Thank you for serving the public you sir are a hero!

Another thing I noticed is lets say im on the way to the Airport , I am VERY POLITE when pulled over, cause NOTHING is worth missing my FLIGHT..And amazingly enough, the cop senses it and lets me go.. If you make a big deal out of being tight on time, or RUDE, then he can EFF with you.. So be as polite, as if you are 1 hour away from a Plane flight, and you will be the one laughing as you are sipping drinks poolside, meanwhile he still on his shift.. Its all a state of mind..

@laceybarker87 Since you apparently didn't bother to watch the series, or even the next episode, you didn't realize that this is EXACTLY what was being pointed out by this video. It was meant to point out common mistakes people make when getting stopped. Quote from later on, "always control your words, your tone of voice, and your body language." etc.

I'm not sure if this video is for or against cops. I haven't watched part 2 yet, but the end of this video is true. If you act mad or scared, mostly mad, the cop is gonna feel this way too. I speak from experience. I am a cop and please don't get instantly pissed at me. I know there are bad cops out there. Just asking for a little understanding at the sometimes difficult job that we do.

@Tegg1234: Agreed. I almost always carry while traveling, legal in my state. I've been stopped twice while carrying. On the most recent stop. I kept my hands on the steering wheel while the officer approached. After the preliminaries, she asked for my license. I told her that it was in my pack on the passenger seat and that I had a loaded pistol in the console between the seats. She verified that I was legally carrying, and had me exit the vehicle while she ran checks. No problems.

@am0ebaman Thank you for your awesome post. While I agree that there are bad cops, I also believe that people now seem to think its their "Right" to get lippy, resist arrest, and demand to see videos from police dash cams WHILE THEY ARE BEING PULLED OVER!! I have just went into the police academy and I vow to be a good cop. I just wish people would vow to be good people too. If you havent done anything wrong you wont go to jail for saying "Yes sir, no sir, I dont know sir, and Id like a lawyer"

anger and aggression is ALWAYS a secondary emotion. Fear comes FIRST even if that fear is that you don't want to comply. They are more afraid of you, NEVER bully a cop with your rights. If we keep that in mind and we act like we are the ones with the right away, (just like driving) They 'believe' they are doing a service or a job...we know differently don't we!

Some lawyers like to rake in big bucks through long, drawn-out trials where they can over-charge people for expenses. However, many defense attorneys would rather make a quick buck by having someone hire them to get a case thrown out than have to do a lot of work preparing for and going through a long trial. If it goes to trial, the client may not be able to afford the attorney fee right away and the lawyer might have to extend them credit, which is a hassle.

@am0ebaman I agree with you, but would like to add this: even if there *isn't* a legitimate reason for the officer to stop you, you would *still* be wise to be calm and cool: it only makes you look better. The camera on the police cruiser will record the officer acting all bent out of shape, and you showing a very calm, relaxed demeanor. It can ONLY work against you to be openly rude to a cop, and it can ONLY work for you to keep your head in just about any situation.

@MrMonkeebalz the proper thing to do if you have a firearm on your person and you are pulled over is to place the gun on teh dashboard before the officer approaches your vehicle. If you are not licensed to carry your firearm or have a carry permit for it, do not have it on you. A concealed firearms charge even from an illegal search cannot be thrown out in court.

@kawirider206 That's possible, I suppose. I don't know the formula for what makes people behave themselves. Maybe intangible values are part of that. I think though, that there is also the argument that the police, as an institution have some flaws inherent to the nature of the institution (state monopoly etcetera).
