I think you missed the best ever -- Gino Marchetti, Defensive End, Baltimore Colts # 89. Before sacks were an official NFL statistic, the Colt coaches went through an entire season's game films to see how many sacks he had that year. He had 40. That's FORTY. One season. He was huge, strong and quick. He often just flew right past the offensive lineman and was in the backfield just like that.

Lambert. Mean Joe. James Harrison. Greg Lloyd. (Unabashed Steelers fan here). However, others for consideration include Howie Long, Brian Bosworth, William “the Fridge” Perry, Christian Okoye, Mike Singletary, Warren Sapp, Terrell Suggs, Jerry Rice, Hines Ward, Merlin Olsen, Jack Tatum, Chuck Bednarik, Mike Webster, Lyle Alzado,… You could almost do a top 10 at every position. Lot of great O-Line guys, too, I’m just embarrassed at my lack of memory at the moment.

Dorsett was the prettiest scariest running back ever. No one dominated college - a man among boys - like Tony Dorsett. His long ago runs look so modern today. He would run seeming in slow motion with such control. Once he mapped out that path into the end zone, he was gone!

Not saying your wrong about LT being #1, but LT himself said Deacon Jones was the scariest ever. Jones played in that earlier Butkus, Nitschke era, and his signature moves -- the head slap and the clothesline, were already outlawed by the 80s. When LT snapped Theismann's leg, LT was horrified, and motioned the medics onto the field. Jones hated QBs so bad that he would have loved to have done that to EVERY QB he faced. He would have enjoyed it. Deacon had 173.5 sacks in an era where the NFL didn't track sacks. And you ought to look up Jack Tatum, as well.

Sean Taylor. Because of his passion for the game, he left all of his anger on the field and was a family man. I truly believe that Sean could make it on to the top 10 someday. Even though his life was cut short he was a freak, his speed and power was great and unmatched for a safety.

Barry was second to Tony Dorsett. Barry was twenty pounds heavier at that. Tony was the biggest little man ever and not Barry or Emmit. Dorsett is the one that set the standard.
