@@RawTopShot More likely LED. Actual neons use a lot of power, are expensive to maintain and contain hazardous gases (at least gases you don't want to share a room with) while being easily broken. LEDs flash quickly as part of how they work. US electricity is 60 hertz so an LED connected to that will operate at I think 120 hertz while cameras often record at 50 fps so the difference means the camera will catch the LED off in some frames and on in others creating the flickering we then see in the video. It might be enhanced when KZbin's compression reduces the video to 30 fps depending on what frames are used/discarded in compressing it. More complicated LED circuits control the brightness of the LED by changing the duration of the LED being on vs off, so a variable LED will at different brightness's to the human eye appear to be either on or off for longer than it is off or on respectively. I will just say that this is a very basic description of their function.

When I search for something in my house, after looking at the obvious spots, then I follow the right hand rule. I place my right side against a wall and move methodically through the room and house only make right hand turns. I work from top to bottom. If it's good enough for a labyrinth and Minotaur, then it's good enough for me.

I'm a volunteer firefighter. That device labeled "fire" on the ceiling wasn't going to hurt anything if you touched it. The front panel comes off and there's electronics under it. That's simply a siren and strobe, not something that can set the alarm off. If you touch a wire and disconnect it (very hard to do) the alarm panel in their control room will beep but the alarm won't go off. They might just call to make sure everything is okay but nothing more.

Former hotel housekeeper here.....another great place to hide something valuable is INSIDE the air conditioning unit...the whole front comes off quite easily usually by pulling out and up. just tuck something up in there, pop the whole front back on and voila, perfectly chilled cash and diamonds that no one but you will know about

This episode reminds of the show Burn Notice. In one episode they showed Michael hid a flash drive in a hole behind a door hinge.

Yep, I've had to hide money, etc., many times over the years. There are different kinds of concealment, the typical kind, where you are hiding things from the hotel personnel, and then there is concealing things from more "professional" types of searches. I'm envious of you guys, I wish my buds were still here with us. Y'all keep enjoying life.

My fave spot to stash... money... in a hotel room is in the rods for the towels or closet hangers. very little to take apart, easy storage and removal.

Of all my stays in hotels, I have NEVER had the need (or desire) to hide cash (or any other small valuables). This video was more entertaining than it was informative.

Allright Wise-guys.... That is such a "CLEAN" room you are hiding stuff. My mom was a hoarder and never threw ANYTHING away!!! I could give you three months or three years and I'm sure you wouldn't find even a fraction of what you were looking for... Now, if I used any of your ideas in her location, it would become a "CERTIFIED IMPOSSIBILITY" to find anything! Still a cool video!! :)

Some years ago a couple I know went on a holiday trip, staying at a cheap hotel in Greece. One night when they went out for dinner they hid their compact camera in the mattress, took all their money with them and headed out. When they came back the hotel room was completely emptied. All clothes and stuff, even their luggage was gone. The only things left was their toothbrushes, and luckily they found the camera still in the mattress. So at least they could brush their teeth, go to bed and the next day they bought the bare necessities so they could stay the last few days and head home. At home, when they emptied the camera's memory card and looked through the pictures, there was one picture on it they didn't recognize. It was an image taken in their hotel room, on the bed, showing two dudes bare hairy asses with toothbrushes stuck half way up.
