Today we take a look at some of the funniest and most interesting moments I've had in Starfield. We highlight some hidden features, easter eggs, or just generally hilarious finds during my 100 hours with Starfield.

The mysterious ship captain is a Starborn that I encountered on my second play through. She says she couldn’t reveal who she was before you become Starborn. She then goes on to explain that she prefers hedonism over pursuing the artifacts.

The Mysterious Captain is NG+ teaser/hint. You will have options in NG+ to talk to her and it opens up a vendor with quite a few rare/high level weapons.

Favorite random encounter so far - and I genuinely doubt it'll change - is running into the Valentine. I ran into it on a character whose backstory involves being descended from an incredibly long line of pirates and mercenaries, so it was a kinda funny "I can relate" type moment.

If you pick a trait that just isnt gelling for you anymore, some of the physical/mental ones can be removed by going to the doctor. The one i saw specifically was in the main hospital in New Atlantis.

You can remove all of them...kids stuff by talking to dad, wanted by talking to the Bounty hunter woman leaning against the wall across from the broken spear, the religious ones by talking to the guy in the well or the guy at the sanctum, and the Varuun one by talking with the diplomat at the Varuun embassy.

Found her on my first run on my current character, decided to change her, then she comes back and tries to kill you later... After doing the main questline at NASA i belive we get her origin story if you read the computer entries around NASA HQ

Did anyone else find out you can press the menu button, press, and hold for a second to bring up the save menu? Then hold for map? Found this out today and made the game much better with all the menu's

If anything I think this game desperately needs a favoriting system when it comes to planets and locations. I find myself googling where things are a lot which could be fixed with either a better local map or a way to favorite planets as a whole so I don’t have to click into systems.

The mysterious captain relates to the new game plus, not gonna spoil but you can find her again when you open up new game plus where she will answer all your questions this time and then becomes a high level merchant with really powerful items

For the crimson fleet, if you go to the UC Sysdef main ship and start shooting you get a quest started to escape the ship, afterwards if you go to Cydonia you get a cool alternate start to the fleet quest line

For the Kid Stuff perk, i'm not sure if some of their gifts are specific in order or not, but they visit the Constellation Lodge as well and Noel can give you notes from them, I got 3 'Visit us, we found something special / want something". But for me, their first visit there gave me a unique named pistol and later gifts were a great UC marine armor / helmet set, a spaceship and a meatloaf recipe.

There is (IMHO) one of the best looking outfits (apparel, not space suit) in game as a reward for a minor quest line in Neon City. Trying not to spoil to much, but a random NPC may talk to you about a gang war in the city, and if you side with a certain faction, you get a version of their outfit. Plus the quest line has a very surprising ending. (if you make the right choices of course)

There's a third way to join the Crimson Fleet that you missed: After you're arrested and taken to Mars, you can tell them to take their offer and shove it. You'll then be approached by a guy in Cydonia after you're done serving time and he'll recruit you to the Fleet.

The mysterious captain is a fellow starborn who decided to stop chasing the artifacts. After your third encounter with them they will sell you some super high end loot.

I'm not sure, but I think if you have Sam Coe as a companion and/or assigned to your ship, you can pilot better ships with his pilot skill. Bonus secret: if you get a quest that gives you a space monster outfit (on titan) try wearing it when you first dock with the mysterious ship above Paradiso. Don't take Sara as your partner...

From what I can tell, having Sam Coe assigned to your ship gives you one increased power point in engines. His perk isn't the same as the player perk and the same is true for most of the utility perks that they have. I'm not even sure the combat perks directly translate to their ability. It could just be that they slightly help your character.

I started with the wanted trait to see how it is, I got attacked by bounty hunters more often but eventually some bounty defenders showed up to help keep me alive since the longer I live the more money they might make

I think that the Crimson Fleet quest line starting with the player getting arrested and railroaded into going undercover was the most likely intended way to get that quest, and also the more common way to get into it (I've had it happen to me three times now, and I have no idea when the UC guy would ever direct you there because every time I've gone to do UC stuff I'd already been hauled in and pressed into service foe SysDef.

I've ran into a bunch of cool ship encounters one of the first ones i found was the tour guide one but I've also found a dude singing through the ship comm and complimented his singing and another one where a ship tried to contact me about my ships warranty and my favorite so far is after i destroyed a few bounty hunter ships another ship that was apparently fighting them with me said they were bounty defenders and that the longer they kept me alive the bigger the bounty would be later on when they wanted to come claim it which was just a really interesting encounter especially as it's added onto an existing bounty hunter encounter

one of my more memorial space encounters is when I found a ghost ship that is just floating out in space when you hail it you get some creepy ghost message then when I bored the ship there were three npc people with robot voices and a dead person near the captains chair with a few audio logs to loot honestly I was expecting to have some creepy ghost fallowing me the rest of the game when I left it

If I was an executive at Bethesda, I would hide Skyrim inside Starfield on one of the planets. Just as an easter egg, you enter a planet and a tiny cutscene shows your ship crashing. Then you wake up from the wagon in skyrim. The game itself is so small you could have it in the game files easily. If that's a bit too much, I would at least put in a Dragonborn flying around in orbit of one of the planets as an homage to the giants launching the player to the sky in Skyrim.

I found some aurora on a character on Neon and promptly forgot about it. I then kept getting stopped saying I had contraband, put in jail, paid the fine etc then move on and again, same thing at the next place. I went to the Wolf Den and sold all the contraband and stolen items but I kept getting arrested. The Aurora didn't show up as an item that was illegal and I only found out later this is what was causing the problem.. but all that said, that is what led me to be captured by the UC and then being forced to become a spy with the Crimson fleet. So that is yet another way to do that quest.

The Mysterious Captian is a Starborn called The Trader, she sells special items to players who have gone through the unity. Pretty cool considering I just remembered this encounter on my first playthru after watching this and put 2 and 2 together lol. Just a couple days ago I met the trader and thought nothing of it till I watched this and remembered this encounter. Cool lil interaction.

its pretty good if you just want to be a pirate itself without being a snitch, if you get arrested and brought in and you choose to refuse to do the UC undercover mission then you get dropped of on Mars and if you wander around Cydonia for a bit you'll be approached by a random guy who will invite you to start the Crimson Fleet storyline without having to be a snitch, you can just be a straight up pirate

Best random encounter is bumping into the Hunter chillaxing in a bar and having a chat before I realised who he was. The conversation made sense once I discovered he was Starborn.

U can attack the vigilant at any point in the crimson flee mission and it changes the ending of the quest u become a full pirate not an undercover operative

Also, if you violate their Mission Rules. (Killing Innocents or your own Men) they kick you out. You will End in Jail or try to fight your Way out. Then you can still finish the Questline, but you need to help the Pirates.

There are a few books that can give you a marker. Some randomly placed across the universe, others available to buy from vendors. One or two is/are in the book shop in Akila City.

You can meet your parents on many other occasions. For example, in the alien zoo in Akila City or on a cruise spaceship. When you first meet your parents, they also tell you that they are planning a trip. Btw. If you visit your parents regularly, your gambling addict father will give you a ship quite early on. ;)

I jump to a enemy territory system and 3-4 ship immediately attacked me. After i shoot my first laser, they suddenly escaped and some of them even gra jump while saying something like "I am out of this. What the heck the mantis doing here"

With the SysDef/Crimson Fleet, I had a slightly different start. I had accidentally picked up some contraband and was arrested when returning to New Atlantis. That’s how I started rather than willingly joining or being ‘asked’ to join.

I played the game from 900 last night to about 420 this morning. The only things I'd criticize are the ship steering being hard to get used to on a keyboard and mouse, the annoyingly difficult Master-level locks, the lack of texture quality options, and 1,000 planets being way too many (50 would've been plenty). Other than that, the game is really fun so far.

I sided with the Crimson Fleet and then doing Vanguard missions, A lot of distrust and "lie" options. Very cool dialogue options especially with the President of the UC

That trait give you insane amount of loot that can be very helpful A special backpack as soon as you visit them.. one of the best armor in the game (or a pretty decent one at least) they give you a gun..(it only had a custom name tho) even a ship..(which is unique too) they can give you so many things and have really funny interractions like when you meet them on random planets, or how they react to your progress in the questline, also the credits it cost you each month are so little its totaly negligible

Doing all the major sidequests and most of the smaller ones, it took roughly 200 hours to beat. My first NG+ took 4 hours to finish the "campaign" and start NG+2

I got that crimson fleet mission you get from the UC Vigilance from a bounty of 40 credits lol. The best part was they were treating me like i had killed 2 men when in reality I accidentally stole a boost pack 😂

Yes, but ignoring the side content, you lose out on a free skill and then a free upgrade for that skill by repeating the Ryujin questline. I prefer to do everything in the first universe, then only do the quests that have different endings to make different choices in ng+, once that is done, I then just hit faction and main until I find the universe I want to settle in. In this way, i can grind xp and levels and have all the skills necessary when I settle into a universe. There is no right or wrong way to play unless you only stick to the first universe.

Who likes funny stories? So, when I ran into the budget tour's ship, I was literally just entering orbit after finishing Andreja's commitment quest. The last question is "Is it true captains have a lover at every port?" Andreja will chip in (regardless of relationship status) with "I think we would all like to hear the answer to that, Captain." Now, her tone can easily be interpreted as friendly teasing, but given the circumstances, I could almost hear her setting the hammer on a pistol aimed at the back of my head.

I was also able to board a landed ship (Ecliptic) but was also able to jack it. Got a very nice ship for the low, low cost of cooking mercs with my Cutter.

the opposite happened to me on my first playthrough with the crimson fleet questline. i just wrapped up the freestar rangers quest and was on my way to buy ammo when i got stopped by a vanguard ship. don’t remember where i even got the bounty from but it was probably because i accidentally shot a guard like you did.

The UC Sysdef undercover questline started for me by getting flagged for contraband. When I did the Faradays Toiurs encounter I told them I was Crimson Fleet and the freaked out and jumped away. I am probably wrong, but I thought the Mysterious Captain encounter was a nod to The Mysterious Stranger.

Imagine that scene where you're landing on a high level planet and fighting your way through spacers, boarding their ship to try and steal it from them, only to end up with the ship getting blown up almost after the load screen that puts you in space. I'm fighting my way through the cabin and just... randomly die with nearly full health. In my case it was Va'ruun instead of Spacers, but man am I glad I quicksaved right before I started the fight. I reloaded and just noped right out of there.

For my UC quest to start I boarded a spacer ship and was taking it back to the spaceport to claim it, it had contraband i had no idea it had so they scanned me near the planet and said do the mission to pay off the fine or go to jail, it gave me the i had no idea i had contraband dialog option too lol.

Maybe a unknown Easter egg is in hope town. The CEO of hope industries is voiced by the oblivion guard and the shop in hope town is called the best defence a throw back to the shop in oblivion

At first, I had assumed the mysterious captain was Doreen, the previous Mantis, prior to you finding the slate on a Spacer's corpse, and headed to The Lair of The Mantis.
