I was in NYC for Halloween and stayed at the Leo house. Great area, loved Chelsea. We were walking distance from the highline and Chelsea market. Some great spots for relaxed dining, bars and fantastic little bakeries. On the week we were there they were filming the sex and the city reboot "And just like that" and "the blacklist."

My favorite NYC bagel spot “hack” is to place my order online at my hotel, take a leisurely stroll over to the bagel spot, skip the line, walk right up to the counter and pick up my order. So easy and no waiting in line!

Another good tourist tip: if you're flying into JFK and going to midtown look at LIRR as an option instead of the E train. Off peak it's $5, large comfortable seats, luggage rack overhead, quiet, and only 20 minutes to Penn Station. Far more relaxing and quicker than the subway.

I just visited in October after watching tons of your videos. One of my favorite experiences was taking a ferry, and I'm not talking about the Staten Island ferry. My second day I decided to go see the Empire State Building and as I was planning my day from Brooklyn, I discovered the ferry service from pier 11. I took the subway to WTC and walked to pier 11 and took the ferry for $4 to 34th st. The views from the boat are amazing, you go right under the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge. You can even get snacks and beer on the ferry if you choose.

Make dinner, bar, brunch, breakfast, reservations before you get there. My wife and I were there this past weekend and we made reservations a month before. We were able to go everywhere we wanted to go. Steak dinner, drinks. Also, call and ask what time the place might have live music. There were two places that he got there and the band was playing their last song for the day. And yes!!! Check the forecast. We had rain once day, 75 the next, and cold the day after. Love your channel!!

We research and binge watch your videos before trips to the city and everything we have ever went to participated in or purchased has always been exactly as you have shown or stated. You have literally saved us hours and 100s of dollars on our trips over the past 5 years! People laugh at us in disbelief when we tell them that the two of us travel to the city 10hours stay for 4 or 5 days eat out every meal go to atleast one show and visit tons of attractions and only spend around $1200 for everything!

They have rooms from simple shared bathrooms to rooms with bathroom inside room and prices are insanely cheap and you get use of the full ymca faculties while staying. I came back from NYC 10 days ago. I made a mistake about clothing in New York. There was something like +55 up to +72 fahrenheit and I did some research about New York city weather between October and November and Google told me that in NYC have a cold weather during that season. So I took lot of clothes with me including a coat and I only used jeans and T-shirt.....lol :D

Kinda related to point 1, I've never paid for lodging in NYC (or any other city in the last 5 years) bc of credit card rewards. I know it's outside your space, but guys like Ask Sebby or Credit Shifu can guide people to doing it. It has totally helped me enjoy my last two NYC trips more than my first one a long time ago at an AirBNB. There's a huge difference when you're already in a prime location, or have the option to order room service... and none of it is coming out of pocket. Actually, maybe I should start a consulting gig and e-mail you one of these days. I've always figured business owners with an affinity for travel would be the best clients; and Here Be Barr is like exactly that. (I wouldn't charge you anything since I love your channel, and I need the practice, lol).

Try the pod hotel at 42nd and ninth especially if you’re looking for affordable accommodations in about the most central location in all of New York City with the Port Authority bus terminal/subway station and Times Square just a few blocks away. The rooms are very narrow and that’s because they are based on the Japanese concept of pods. I stay in the rooms with bunkbeds, but you still get the hotel experience and bathroom/shower is great.. Very clean, friendly staff, tiki bar etc. The best part: directly across the street is the Manhattan parking garage which I always use and is very safe and where I’ve never had a problem. Pod customers Can get their receipts stamped, and they are good at the Manhattan parking deck I believe half off. Can’t beat it!

The one thing I'll disagree with is the matinee thing! As a someone who grew up in the surrounding NYC area going to shows all the time, (just graduated with a BFA in theatre recently as well) the nighttime shows are gonna be much higher energy from not only the crowd, but the performers. As a stage actor myself having to do a two show day is tough, and the matinee can be hard to get your energy up for. I've also noticed that the crowds at matinees are often old people and young children, leading to a weird audience energy a lot of the time.

In 2012 i went to Moscow on vacation. I had some friends living there,so i had a place to stay in the city. In those days i used to travel with a backpack filled with t-shirts and jeans, nothing fancy. L think my friends tried to cause a good impression on my visit to Russia, and invited me to go to a classical music concert at some Moscow Theater. All i had in my backpack was cheap clothes. That afternoon i had to rush to a mall called GUM in downtow Moscow to buy a necktie and a dress shirt. It was not cheap, not even in 2012. I was bigger than my friends, none of their suits would have fitted me those days. My tip to you boys, always pack a nice tie and a decent shirt with your travel stuff .

Two things about NYC that one needs to factor in (and I say this living an hour away)- Wind and going in and out. The gust of wind that is a mild factor in, say, Brooklyn, might not be felt by the wall of buildings in Manhattan- BUT then you turn a corner into a wind tunnel. Likewise, what's a good outfit for walking in the cold might be a bad outfit once you're inside. So, say, if your Day is to go to one cafe for lunch, do Summit, walk around, go into another place for dinner, etc...think of an outfit you can customize for cold outdoors and warm indoors. (In my case, I learned that my insulated hoodie fits easily in my backpack, but a leather jacket would not)
