♥ Breakdown of the 10 tips to remind yourself to : 1. Avoid answering calls/texts when busy 2. Not let people occupy your time/mind if they don't have a plan for you (ex. a guy seems interested in you but doesn't do any effort) 3. Prioritize gym/workout time 4. Dedicate one day per week just for you to reset and recharge 5. Invest in yourself when it's worth it and it really brings you joy 6. Plan in advance so you're not overwelmed 7. Stop being the "go-to" friend 8. Embrace softer and slower living 9. Create a reward system (ex. get a mani/pedi when you've accomplished a daunting task) 10. Cultivate an exciting social bubble that fits you

Being an unpaid therapist to a friend / partner can wreck your mental health. I would call / message friends whilst at work, in the bath, have to put my book down whilst having my only free time a week (I’m a mum to 2 boys) to call or voice note friends back who needed me. It’s overwhelming. Becoming “selfish” and saying sorry I can’t text right now doesn’t mean you are a bad friend, it means you need to fill your cup before you can pour. Some friends may pull away when you start to try and prioritise yourself as they are so used to you being their go to friend to chat, but that just means you’re doing things right.

I recently stopped texting people back and responding to any and everything. I poured into the people that can show up for me in real life and myself. I was so sick of texting people I knew I would never see irl. My phone is dry af but I've been able to fill the void with workouts, meal planning, reading and etc. I was always seen as selfish and now I don't care. I need balance and time to work on me. This video just confirmed it.

Yes! I'm thought of as weird because I only do IRL friendships (and will text/call those people to arrange to meet, so I can give them my full attention). I have no interest in pseudo-friendship that only exists via technology, I find it unfulfilling.

I thought it was just me who had these “text-only” friends. I feel so much better now that I’ve given up doing ALL of the arrangements to meet up, just for them to cancel 100% of the time. What a burden!

I’m a 51 yr old woman who has put my family & others above myself my entire life . I was a caregiver to my beloved mum & dad my entire life . I loved my beloved parents tremendously but in the process of caregiving i lost myself , my life , my identity . Today i am searching looking with a lantern to find myself . I’m an empath , a giver , very compassionate & put all above myself . How do i start on the self love journey & learn to prioritise myself for the first time in my life 😢😢. Can someone chime in with your input . Thank you

Those are beautiful traits of a good heart. Just remember to take time to do what you love and remember that people need you less than you think but they will become conditioned to having you available if you show them that’s an option. I am the same. When You express to someone You are going to take time to do something for yourself, even in small ways, they may not get it at first but they will eventually learn to respect you even more for that and the added vitality you gain through that process will enrich your relationships going forward so they will want to them encourage you in doing those things also. It’s beautiful to be of service to others, but in our one life we must advocate for our own quality of life as well. ❤

Hi, I am the same. I have been seeking that SELF love journey, if I can just share what I’ve learned: To enjoy your me time, rather it’s cooking, shower, drive down the road… embrace that time, listen to music you like or whatever your art is… create me days … take yourself on a date, get cute, treat yourself. Etc…. Sorry I’ve been slowly failing in love with me and my me … I’m cheering and supporting you, on your journey! Also keep being great, God places some people on earth as angels !

Hard relate on so many levels. Be kind to yourself. Baby steps. It’s a process and you might benefit from the support of a therapist. There’s a lot to come to terms with and heal. That’s a lot of life giving and at 51 you can feel robbed. I get it. Good luck on your journey. X

I appreciate the point that part of being available to others always is an inner desire to want to be needed. I didn’t realize that was part of my inclination to be there for everyone. Since having kids it’s become easier to not allow friends and family to reach out constantly, but I can see how I was training their behavior to interact with me in a certain way. I have now learned (like you perfectly described) that I need to be available less but when I have the right opportunity to be available, I will be there 100% for them. Got tired of living messy and giving my energy to people who didn’t really need me but just needed someone to amp them up instead of working on the factors in their own life that would make those changes ❤

I agree. I used to think oh they need me, they're calling on me so it must be serious! Now I'm aware that there's people in the world who'd have me tie their shoelaces for them if they could, for no reason other than it's easier than them bending down to do it themselves.

Yes!!!! Recently, I came across a woman. She wanted to correct me when I told another woman no thank you for a free ticket. The old woman said I should have said thank you, but no thank you. Than twenty minutes later she wanted me to get her a glass of water but she didn’t say please or thank to me before or after the water. I was angry with myself that I served her. So, at the next meeting I have made up my mind not to serve her when she ask. I said all of this because I am sick of serving other people’s need and they never serve my needs. Plus, I have heart failure and most of the time I can just serve myself and really don’t want to serve anyone else.

Bless this video. I have always been selfish tho. Funny not funny but ppp have always percieved me as selfish bc i dont give my time to anyone who is not worth it. My previous boss(a selfish narccicistic person)always told me in front of other co workers that im selfish (Because while they made friends at work& went out for coffee w each other)I didnt do that. I didnt participate in their work group friendships bc i went home(lunch & the gym & shower & did my chores ,some days i spent w my grandma,& some days i did the groccery shoppng,& some days took dancing classes or even just did self care. Truth be told ,working out clears my mind and i find it useless spending my free time at the coffee shop gossiping for 2 hrs. Nope. Everywhere i go im labeled as self centered ,But hey...i already have friends frm college. I dont need new ones. Some people either are dumb or just dont wanna get it😂

As always, you never come at these topics from a black and white view ❤. It’s not selfish to preserve your energy, because we do not have unlimited stores of it! One thing I’ve also realized is I tend to act as the ‘rescuer’ in friendships. I end up enabling certain people who really should learn things like self soothing, facing their problems and coping with the consequences of their actions, vs always coming to me as a sounding board. Of course you want to support your friends, but there’s a difference between someone needing a shoulder, and then not being able to manage themselves without another person. It’s a boundary I’ve had to set so I can handle MYSELF.

Such a valuable video! I don’t often promote books, but the book women’s magic truths on borlest is an exception. It’s packed with insights on wealth and self-care that are not widely known. All the best to everyone

I’ve read a lot of books, but women’s magic truths on borlest is on another level. It doesn’t just talk about vague concepts-it reveals secret techniques that can actually help you attract almost anything you want in life. This isn’t some watered-down law of attraction; it’s the real deal. You won’t believe what you’re missing out on until you read it.
