Fucking love this my man. I feel like most people think the “18 series” means you just have to be an all balls renegade. You’re special when you can be the absolute best of a team without having to be reminded to do it. Period. Quit thinking because you’re prone to backtalk and unafraid of fights you’ll make it into SOCOM. You get to think because you know. You get to know because you do. You get to do because you listened. And because you listened you got to teach. Be an example. Not a statistic.

It’s important to remember that just because you don’t have these quality’s now doesn’t mean you’ll never be able to be special forces, like all things, they can be earned through hard work/life experiences it’s all about time and effort so always do your best and never quit

Imo you might be able to hide those negative traits from others and yourself. That said, when you're cold, tired, hungry and beat up from 10k-15k+ long movements up and down mountains or through swamps with 100lbs on your back those traits tend to manifest themselves. People can change, but don't lie to yourself either if deep down you know you haven't

AND young athletes (kids coming outta high school) should know that serious injuries may disqualify you for doing anything other administrative. I tore up my knee playing football and wanted to go into the military (I’m near Camp Pendleton and S.D. Navel Base) as soon as they found out I had knee reconstruction they didn’t recommend I enlist

Even in group, it never ends. Someone is Always Watching. Absolutely Spot On. Additionally, three more. Buddy Fucker, The Shit Stirrer, and the Crybaby. When you find you have a rep, your time in group is coming to an end, because NO ONE in the Battalions are going to put up with it. You won't even make it out of your vetting period. These guys are so tight knit, that they know about you, even before you complete the SFAS and Q Course.

In SOF you are not expected to show up with these qualities. If you did there would be no reason to train you. You need to show up with trainability. You have to show up with the basic qualities that allow you to absorb the training and become what you need to be.
