As a hsp, I eventually learned that negative emotions like crying isn't stupid or pathetic or inconvenient for when you're caring too much about a topic or a situation. What helped me a lot was learning to honor my emotions, focus where it hurts in my body and let it flow. Watch the thoughts pass by but detach from them. And now everytime I end up crying instead of a dark spiral of shame and guilt its this brief moment of pain then freedom as I release the excess of emotions I cant hold inside my body. Made me a lot stronger than who I was before.

as a child, I was rarely taken seriously, I got ignored often, and I was looked down upon by my peers. I also couldn’t make GOOD friends. And despite me not being a “loner” at school, I just felt like I never truly fit in. And I never realized how deeply it affected me until recently. Now whenever I make a new friend, I got overly excited, I get scarred when people take some time to respond, I hate it when people talk over me, it hurts me a lot whenever whenever people don’t acknowledge what I say, etc. Now this may not seem that big of a deal, but it is for me. If you are reading this, don’t let people talk over your, ignore you and the things you say, etc. Speak up for yourself and make sure you get heard. Hey, so as an HSP with several close HSP friends, there’s a few things I wanted to note. This video does an excellent job of displaying the usual and somewhat “ideal” qualities of an HSP, but sometimes life experiences will cause a person to appear a bit different from the outside. For example, I know someone who is definitely an HSP, but is unusually unmoved by violence and graphic situations. In this specific case, the person was desensitized to violence at an incredibly young age through traumatic experiences, and has since used those traumatic experiences to teach people self defense so they are able to handle things that he at the time could not handle correctly. The result is that he is not outwardly bothered by violence. He was also subjected to incredibly violent and graphic movies at a young age, which further desensitized him. So trauma can hide or change a typical HSP trait that may have been there otherwise. I know a few other HSPs that are not emotionally open, except with very (very!) few close people, and even that is a new development. This was also due to trauma and neglect at least in one case. Also! GOOD healthy experiences can also affect how these traits are perceived! For example, my dad works in a psychological field and knows all about HSPs, and was AMAZED when at 19 years old I approached him and said I thought I was an HSP. He deals with people who have had significant childhood trauma, and was only used to recognizing the kinds of traits found in traumatized HSPs. As I began explaining to him, he began to realize the difference very quickly. I was extremely blessed to have had an incredible childhood and two highly sensitive parents (though they are only just now realizing their sensitivity) who understood much of what I experienced. I still have my issues, of course, but many of my sensitivity traits developed differently than they may have otherwise. For example, many HSPs have a very hard time with changes. My dad tells me that as a very young child I handled change exceptionally well, and moved on quickly. We began to realize that this developed BECAUSE I was so sensitive to change, and I quickly adopted strategies to regulate my emotions and calm myself. So from the outside, I look perfectly fine- on the inside I may be deeply upset, mentally address the issue, console myself, and then move on and let it go. I still struggle with this sometimes, but not as much as others for the most part. I’ve had the opportunity to develop healthy strategies. Moral of the story? Life happens. People are messy. Love them, learn their story if they let you in, and share yours. Help each other grow and heal. And if you know at least one of you is an HSP, there are awesome tools that you can even learn about and implement together. You can even share your personal strategies with each other, which may be helpful. I highly recommend the book The Highly Sensitive Person by Elain Aron. She was the leading researcher on high sensitivity, and first recognized that some people might be highly sensitive. If you can’t get the book, there are plenty of free resources online, including Dr. Aron’s website hsperson.com. Enjoy your sensitivity, my friends, and I pray you learn to recognize it as the gift that it is. (I apologize; I didn’t intend to write a whole novel. I at least hope it helped you in some way lol)

I am this person, I know when my friends are sad or angry even when they try to hide it. I know how to help them. Jet I myself hide that I don’t want to be here anymore. They all think I am the bubbly happy person that I portray to be. But here I am slowly dying inside, to afraid to tell someone Thank you for taking the time to read this😔

This specie is one among the many who make this world a better one. My friend, sister, and lover Paula Fatima Is part of this sensible community, and I can just say, how proud I am of them, and everything they have accomplished throughout the years. Much love and let's never forget to support them in everything they aspire to be. Love and kisses from Afghanistan

Sensitive is not the opposite of masculine...feminine is. Being more sensitive just means we are more aware and we feel things more deeply than other people. With practice you can learn to control your visible reactions to those feelings, if you choose to do so. It is a lot easier to learn to deal with some people than to try to avoid everyone. It is good to be able to enjoy solitude as well though. 😉

I'm that friend! :D are there recommendations about which profession can be more enjoyable for HSP? I'm at med school, can this sensibility help some professionals in their careers? ps: I love your videos, they're so helpful and made me realize it's not my fault being the way I am Mostly the 'tips' and 'ways to cope with...' videos, sometimes we know what we have, but there's no obvious way of helping ourselves or how to get better, but here you are! thanks a lot

I am a person who is sensitive especially when somebody hurts my feelings. I try to not cry when that occurs because I feel like crying makes you look weak. Most of the time though, I do end up crying.😔 My name starts with an A.

I understand I always try to resist crying because it's seems weak and for along time I tried hiding my emotions and keep them bottled up. I'm still sensitive when someone is mean to me but not as extreme as I was when I was I kid I would breakdown in class if I got a answer wrong people would stare at me.

I got diagnosed to be a highly sensitive person a few years ago. It comes with a lot of advantages, like being in touch with myself, but there's also.... I'm so sensitive to other people's needs that I'm usually the giver in the relationship. I don't necessarily mind it, but a few people do take advantage of that. While I can often tell they are using me in a way, I tend to excuse them bc of their situation. Not necessarily excuse them, but rather accept their behavior bc I understand their reasoning in a way. It's frustrating, I don't want anyone to hurt and I'm willing to help but please don't make me distrustful just because you see me as your psychiatrist. ALSO That part about loud spaces was not elaborate enough. It is absolute hell. I experience things quite intensely, chaos and noise can cause panic attacks due to overstimulation. Overstimulation is such a huge problem for HSP . People without it probably don't understand. It's not being an introvert, it's getting overwhelmed by busy daily life

I was introduced to this by a coworker who I've become close to because we are so similar and I've opened up to her and tell her a lot and vice versa. The other day she asked me if I was an hsp based on all the different things we've talked about. I went on to do some googling and watching KZbin videos. I've never identified so much with anything more than I do with being an hsp. It helped explain so much in my life. I was so relieved that what I've felt over the last 28 years of my life is not something I've made up and I'm not alone. I felt so much joy that I cried on my drive home. 😂😬

I discovered & learned that I am a HSP, EMPATH, LIGHT WORKER & OLD SOUL a little over three and a half years ago when a unexpected spiritual awakening. Ever since I was a very young child, I knew that I was very different from the other kids my age (4-6yrs old) Because I'd rather think about the meaning of life & why I didn't seem to fit in or belonged here on earth etc etc..... I've always known that I was here for a reason though but I didn't know exactly what that reason was, I had kinda of an idea but couldn't put my finger on it all through my life until my awakening. I NEVER thought that something like that would happen to me because I've NEVER EVER had been spiritual about anything.!? So that was a HUGE SHOCKER to me.!?? I want to Thank You🙏🏼very much for this video, it's very much APPRECIATED😊😊 Now I can share this information with my family & boyfriend & HOPEFULLY they'll begin to Understand what it's like to be me & some of the challenges I have that comes my way etc....!?? (✌🏼💜&😂)-TO YOU ALWAYS & TO ANYONE WHO READS THIS.!!

Ever since I was little I was always told I’m a sensitive person, I didn’t realise that it was an actual thing, I thought I’d grow out of crying so easily, even just when I’m mad or frustrated. People say I’m boring because I don’t enjoy loud/crowded places. My friend once dragged me into a mosh pit and when I tell you just how much I hated it, it felt like I was suffocating. they don’t understand just how much it drains me and how much time I need to recharge
