Great environment for you to offer your patients and you to work. These 10 myths were so important to debunk. I especially appreciated your mention of frequent washing of pillowcases. My lovely daughter had horrific acne. One of the common sense suggestions that her derm suggested along the long road of treatment was to wash her pillowcases in hot water with mild detergent, no fabric softeners nor dryer sheets EVERY day. This was easy to do compared to all of the elements to reach some clearing of her beautiful face, back and chest. This did help diminish some of her surface oiliness. With the help of hormonal intervention and gentle cleansing, now at 30 she has a glowing complexion with very little scaring. She is a 365 day a year 50+ SPF user too. People who have acne receive a lot of disparaging comments when they need compassion. Thank you for all that you offer your viewers and congratulations on your new offices. Brava!

Hi, I would love to see more videos about make up and skin care. So many dermatologists give conflicting advice about make up in general and in terms of SPF. I have heard really popular dermatologists say not to wear any make up whatsoever and if you do that you cannot reapply SPF properly. There is so much conflicting advice about how to reapply SPF over make up and that it is compromised by wearing make up to begin with. I really like make up but because of the SPF and make up fear mongering that goes on I don’t wear it daily anymore. I would love to know your method of SPF protection when wearing make up because nowadays I only wear make up at night to avoid having to reapply sunscreen over it. I feel like I am always caught in the dilemma of reapplying sunscreen every few hours to protect my skin and keeping it young but also not being able to wear make up if I want to. It’s a catch 22 feeling of have beautiful young skin and not being able to enjoy make up during the day or wearing makeup but not getting the same spf coverage and “unnecessary” skin aging. Sometimes I think about just reapplying sunscreen a couple of times a day and then wearing make up but then considering getting lasers/treatments down the line as I age? I’m familiar with some methods of reapplying sunscreen over make up but if you are a real make up connoisseur it’s just not feasible to rub layers of SPF over your eyebrows or eyeshadow or contour. I’ve heard about reapplying mineral powder sunscreen and using sprays but that it’s not the same protection coverage. By the way thank you for all the advice you give in your videos. 💗

@Ms. Robinson so do I have to use aha? Cuz I got aha and bha at home
@elijahstars3 жыл бұрын
@@dararithkith991 i for example (dry skin here) use a retinol (inkey list) 3 nights a week and use ordinary lactic acid+ha (10%) 3 other nights as well and i have 1 night without any of them. been doing it for a couple of months now and my skin is smoother than it used to be for sure. so yeah, aha is a good choice to use to get rid of dead skin even if you're using retinol. not both on the same night time routine of course.
@zeynepkymet46733 жыл бұрын
Actually you don’t necessarily need an exfoliant in your routine whether you use retinol or not. It can be highly beneficial but it’s not 100% necessary and so many derms including Dr Idriss, back this up. Retinoids don’t exfoliate your skin though, they stimulate your skin’s ability to self-exfoliate. If you absolutely want to add an exfoliant to your routine I’d say you wait until your skin is able to tolerate your retinoid product without any additional precaution to avoid irritation, and introduce it super slowly.

Check out the Nooni Applebutter Lip Mask! It has AHA in it so it gets rid of the dead skin while it hydrates. Nothing has ever gotten rid of my cracks and peeling the way this lip balm does. I haven't used anything else in years.

i like burts bees lip balms not the original one but the ultra hydrating one with kokum butter(white and silver label), pomegranate, and the pink grapefruit. if my lips are peeling or rough, i just use a physical exfoliator like a scrub washcloth, or you can make a lip scrub that is similar to the lush lip scrub just by mixing raw sugar and jojoba oil or sweet almond oil together. if my lips are cracked and painful, i use neosporin. it tastes like crap if you accidentally lick your lips though, but it works to heal them faster than just vaseline.

@@user-jo4rv6hl6w Don't be! I've recommended it to so many friends, and they're all shocked at how soft their lips are. It's super mild and just helps to get rid of the dead skin, so you don't have to exfoliate with a toothbrush or lip scrub. It's so much more gentle.

Don't do it 🤣. I tried it because i was curious. It didn't give me any benefits, was a complete waste of time. And I had stubbles all over my fave after 2 days. I'm juist going back to using sugar wax (which is Lebanese like dr. Idriss) and taking off the baby hairs with that. The whole part about taking off dead skin cells with dermaplaning might be if they do it with a scalpel at the beauty salon. I didn't notice any difference. Besides, you can get the top layer off with an AHA anyway.

Hi, Thanks for stretching out your time for us! For the next video request: One of the things I struggle with is when I go shopping, the shelves are so overrun with this wide array of skincare products - many that almost seem filled with novelty-like ingredients promoted as needed and it's an imitating when you aren't a dermatologist. What ingredients actually make an overall impact on the skin? What actually delivers great benefits? I am so lost. For example, I know about retinol....but what about the combination of retinol + hyaluronic acid all in one? Does that actually better the result of either ingredient? And what about "the novelty ingredients" such as "rosewater" and "willowherb." Those promising a "tingling sensation"?

🎉Summary: Myth 1: Not washing your face causes acne. Truth: Acne can be caused by other reasons, not just hygiene. Myth 2: Exfoliate everyday, more than once a day Truth: You should only exfoliate 3-4 times a week at night. Myth 3: Natural is better than synthetic in skincare Truth: Synthetic products are made in lab to tailor to your skin. Myth 4: Eye creams don’t work Truth: Maybe. But eye creams with actives(retinol) is good. Myth 5: Retinol is for 30s or 50s Truth: Retinol was initially was made for teenagers for acne. Start slow and small. Myth 6: Suncreen is only for summer Truth: Sun doesn’t disappear in winter, even tho Sun is not strong you still get exposed to UV rays. Myth 7: You will age faster with daily makeup Truth: Take makeup off before bed, to get rid of anti oxidants and all the gunks. Myth 8: If it burns it works. Truth: Maybe but not always. Only for chemical exfoliant but not all the times. Myth 9: Hyaluronic Acid is the best humectant Truth: daily use can cause inflammation. And it’s not small enough to penetrate the dermis. Myth 10: Steaming open pores Truth: It opens with age. It can make rosacea worse

Love, love, love your comment about what you want and what you need in skincare!! I’ve actually been trying to decide if I want to reorder a $20 hand cream that is sooo lightweight and fragrance free (necessary for my skin allergies!). I want it, but I don’t need it. The Neutrogena fragrance free hand cream is just as light weight and will do the job for a fraction of the price!
