Predator “dreadlocks” are a multi-sensory sense system rich with nerves. The “dreadlocks” could function for the sense of smell ( predators don’t have noses so the head tendrils can serve to pick up scent particles) and also serve to maintain balance. In the first movie, the Predator jumps from tree to tree and is very acrobatic and requires a good sense of balance and kinesthesia. Since Predators do not have an external ear, portions of the dreadlocks can serve as an ear which spans the entire head. Parts of the dreadlocks pick up vibrations in the atmosphere and translate it as sound. Contrary to humans, the Predator’s strongest senses are smell and sound due to the sensory dreadlocks. A Predator’s weakest sense is sight. Thus, the helmets are used to augment a Predator’s sight. The Predator’s senses of smell and hearing are already acute and need no augmenting, so the sensory dreadlock tendrils (which are used for smell, hearing, and body balance/kinesthesia) are maintained outside the helmet.

I remember reading a novel and comics back in the 90’s that referred to a woman who survived the aliens and one Predator and her escaped the planet. These showed a massive predator ship where the human woman had her own room cause she had killed a queen alien and had its skull in the escape. At one point a group of predators fight in unarmed combat to earn the right to hunt and capture a queen on a planet completely overrun with xenomorphs. The woman faces off against tiny a predator male about Arnolds size. We also see females in the halls of the ship with sucklings. Rooms are earned by more prominent trophies.

As far as communications with humans, Scar wasn't reveling in her fear, but he was laughing a little about her surprise when he was making the alien head as a shield. The Yautja code also doesn't really allow the killing of an unarmed, sick, or children unless they are threatening them. So as long as humans are nice and peaceful to them, they will at least be nice, in their own way, and communicate to the humans. Scar was trying to get her to understand he wasn't trying to hurt her, but to get her to be more like him. The Yaujta can communicate with humans using some basic communication skills since they do not have the same language as we do. So to communicate, they use simpler hand gestures and guidance. Is it their fault or ours? Maybe both since our languages are so different.
@nolalookenbill70532 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that the Yautja can mimic human speech and share the info across clans as well In the first Predator movie, the jungle Predator was able to mimic Dutch and his squad, i.e. Dutch saying "You are one ugly motherf@cker" and "What the hell are you", and one of his buddies laughing (can't remember who) In Predator 2, the city Predator finished Harrigan's 'ugly mofo' sentence, showing that he retained what the jungle Predator knew about human speech, either directly or from another Predator In Predators, the Super Predators mimicked Cuchillo's voice to lure in the rest of the gang while he was already dead So it's safe to say that, with a bit of education, the Yautja *can* speak in human, they just prefer not to

Also you forgot to mention cause it got lost in too many iterations. The more gear a predator has the less experienced it is. In the early days of this creature(90’s) the more experienced predators took less gear to a hunt. Predator 2 the predator was a young one as opposed to the one in number 1

But ultimately, the Amengi engendered their own defeat when they produced fighters strong enough to organize a rebellion, led by one particular Hish who came to be know in legends as the First Hunter, the Alpha Predator", this would also explain how they are so big despite the fact that live on planets with gravity much higher then earths

I'm surprised the helmet isn't resistant to a xenomorph bite attack.
@ErskineDevlin3 жыл бұрын
The xenomorph bite may simply be too powerful. It could be that even the metal Yautja use isn't quite durable enough to withstand such force or that so much material would be required that the mask would be impractical to wear. In human history we had breastplates that could withstand shots from early firearms but they were generally much heavier than earlier armor of the same type.
@Yokonato3 жыл бұрын
@@ErskineDevlin I'm sure this bite is just absurdly strong, all origin stories basically have them engineered to be killers. Several scenes in the movies/comics/games show there tongues can punch through solid steel easily, a predator helmet would probably end up being to thick and heavy just for a additional safety that wouldn't help to much since 90% of their body is exposed generally.
@SakuragiSayo3 жыл бұрын
@@Yokonato The bite of Xenomorphs are stronger than that of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the creature with the most powerful bite on the planet, since Xenomorphs bite even harder, no material can withstand their bite, a similar concept applies to their bladed tails. The tail blade is the strongest part of the tail and it can pierce and slice through Titanium like a hot knife glides through butter. Xenomorphs see in every spectrum of light so a Predator's cloak is useless against them, which is why Predators view Xenomorphs as the only worthy opponents in the universe. Humans are too easy to kill which is why Predators will target Xenomorphs in the area first even if there is a battalion of soldiers. Xenomorphs however have an ingrained hatred for humans due to they're lack of self-control and their shoot first, ask questions never mentality. Humans are the reason Xenomorphs are Genocidal to their species, they violated the nests of the Xenomorphs all in their exploration of the galaxy, the Xenomorphs did what all living beings do, fight and kill in defense of their offspring. Xenomorphs never attacked humans until the humans provoked them, after a certain point Xenomorphs realized what the Engineers saw, humanity is a blight on the galaxy and must be annihilated, thus if Predators and humans are in the same are with Xenomorphs, the Xenomorphs go for the humans first and ignore the Predators until the humans are all dead or the Predators kill a leader, such as a Praetorian, at that point their focus goes to the bigger threat despite their Genocidal nature against humans. I am firmly on the side of Xenomorphs, humans suck
@drogon2233 жыл бұрын
@@SakuragiSayo that is nothing tod o with why xenomorphs kill humans, also multiple times the Xenomorphs in comics stories and lore attack predators first. xenomorphs are endo-parasites, they require hosts to live all they do is to survive and evolve, and pre-create as does all life. Xenomorphs do not hate humans they see us as prey nothing more.
@SakuragiSayo3 жыл бұрын
@@drogon223 That's where you're wrong. I have done the research, I know what I am talking about. Xenomorphs can much more easily take an animal host than they can humans, animals lack the intelligence that makes it hard to kill a human without being injured. Why would you go after something harder to kill/harder to implant when you can much more easily kill/implant something else? You wouldn't, you would always go for the easier target as that has the highest percentage of survival and furthering the Hive. You would only go for the more dangerous adversary to kill/implant if you had a hatred for that being. So, you are wrong, I am correct. I did the research, while you clearly have not

I had always thought that Yautja vision was based upon heat, meaning they see primarily in the infrared. Given this theory, I had assumed that, whereas the human retina has rods and cones for perceiving color and light levels, the corresponding organs in a Yautja retina would perceive levels of heat and differentiate distinctive heat sources from the ambient thermal environment. Odd that I had to be high on weed to come to this realisation, but there it is, and it still makes perfect sense to me. Your thoughts?

The Helmet gives them infrared vision. They've shown when they aren't wearing the helmet that have very poor 'natural' vision.

Post Alien Resurrection, what if Humans find out about the life extending properties of Yautja blood and flesh... *and farm them?* While hunting Yautja would be epic with the technological edge lessened, all that is really needed is a cell sample and a Yautja could be cloned... and they won't be trained as Hunters. Lobotimised Livestock kept in tanks without any mental stimulation, or even just vat grown meat - and Humans are now a immortal species. If the genetic trick that allowed the Ripley clone to have the full memories of the original could be *isolated,* (so you don't have the rest of the hybrid Xenomorph traits mixed in) then you have Humans that can be Resurrected from just a cell sample as well. So with immortal Humans that can be copied with the memories intact; Look out universe. The best and brightest can just keep going on, never losing a talented scientist, engineer or soldier (that could be mass produced). And when there's a life and death situation, knowing that there's a back up of you from the last time you gave a sample will make fear of death a abstract concept ("if I screw the species over this, they may erase my back ups, I'm going to do Humanity proud on this and trigger the bomb"). Humanities technology and progress will continue at a exponential rate as the experts in the field never get old, and perhaps even have copies of them. It would completely change what it is to be Human. And even without the Xenomorph Resurrection trick, just immortality with healing will change everything. _And what if Yautja taste delicious?_

If that happened, I'm very sure yautja empire will declare war on human and no more hunt..dont think human will survive under their advance military attack. If one yautja can cause chaos to human, a military campaign from them will bring us back to stone age...so they can start hunting on earth again. Human will be another xenomorph for them.

very interesting topic , one youtube channel speculated as well that predators blood probably contains phosporus , similar compound you typically found like those in the glow in the dark toys or probablt glow stick in the sense its blood to them. (like humans blood contaning iron) as for biology , it is also stated on the youtube channel that thier home planet maybe a dry tidally locked planet of sorts and given that they have an infared vision ., predators mostly stay on the dark side of the planet (which is probably cold or freezing)

I want to see a movie set far enough in the future where the predators are being hunted by us.

Since marvel has introduced "variants" I would love a SHOW that had like 6 or 7 heros n villains trapped on a hunting planet having to escape or survive. Give us multiple seasons and different team ups.

The only thing I have a problem with, as far as we know it, enhancing civilization one must be able to construct records and the way the Yautja see, that's hardly possible. I would rather assume, the gauntlet when set to self destruct blows up the energy pack on the back of the hunter that powers all of his tech, rather than exploding itself. Yes, I know, AvP gives anotehr impression - I still think my version is more plausible.

It’s possible. I mean there are species of roaches and jumping spiders that produce milk for their offspring. Some birds (like doves and penguins) also produce a milk substance called Crop Milk for the first couple days of the baby chicks life. So it’s entirely possible they could nurse as well
