i am of the opposite opinion. I think Abella is great, but she's outweighed by the utility of choosing to keep Henryk alive, specially past Day 2 Morning, making sure he goes to the restaurant and not the bar/speakeasy. The ability to refill the Hunger meter makes the game even easier.

@@tiagocosmos I suppose it depends on what you struggle more with/value more. Food isn't all that scarce in termina so henryks services, while incredibly useful, aren't vitally important. Abella has a very big Bonk with a stun added ontop. If you require big bonks, especially for the early game fights Abella is incredibly useful but not vitally important either. She is far from the only source of damage early, but she is an easy straightforward one.

I escaped the flesh pit and dragged my nugget ass with one arm all the way past trotur, into the bathroom. I thought "well my runs fucked anyway, maybe it's a shortcut?". I fall into the pit, it's dark, theres no exits. I try to climb the wall. It's covered in shit with no climbing holds. I wriggle around like a worm in circles mashing the use button, I turn up the brightness looking for any clue to escape, but there's nothing. My character starved to death in a shit pit with no legs and one arm. Alone in the dark. That's when I found out things can always be worse for your character and that this game is fucking awesome

That is very true, the pagan, uneasy, rotten atmosphere is very similar, I thought of that too. Personally, the game to me was a mixture of Off and Amnesia. The graphics and UI and sound quality remind me of OFF while the horror aesthetics remind me of amnesia.. but RE8 completes the mix

Olivia the f-ing Lamb might seem weak but she doesn't need legs and can stun enemies with her wheelchair if she falls from stairs and also can become immune to infections if she gets an arm/leg infection and steps in a bear trap while in the wheelchair.

The best feeling you can have is getting incredibly strong in this game, i remember when i first played fear and hunger 1 i sucked hard but after some time i started to understand the game until i got a cahara run where i got the penance armor, cursed blue sin, 2 white angel souls, sergil spear and the eastern purified sword with legarde darce and nashra in the party. I felt like no god could stand in my way 10/10 game.

I managed to get poisoned as Levi from the dogs and burned through my healing items until I reached the house with the double knife woman. Out of desperation and on my literally last hp point, I found a white vile in the fridge. After that my Levi and Abella got bonked by the pig guy. 10/10 would open that fridge again

Tip with the first turn bear traps or placed bear traps in general: Simply run away. The bear trap doesn’t carry over to the overworld or the next fight with the same villager. If they placed it on the first turn and you don’t want to deal with it, try running. Reengage with them and you likely have a start with no bear trap now. If you say manage to remove their arm wielding a weapon but then they place a bear trap, running away resets it so you can get an additional chance of severing their left arm before they could place any additional traps. Damaged limbs will remain severed and won’t get reset. Running isn’t guaranteed to work all the time, but it does it’ll help give you a breather and an easier win when facing male villagers.

I got really interested to get into F&h in general because the lore part of it really caught my attention, since I am more of a story driven person than a gameplay one, as in even if the gameplay of a game isn't that good, a really engaging story can get me behind it easily, therefor I am generally horrible with games, I did understand the limbs thing fine enough, but I feel what I struggle most is knowing what to do when starting, since I don't want to miss any lore important stuff i become really clueless with the amount of decision I have to make because since I don't know where to go and which better way to approach stuff I get stuck in certain areas or don't know how to progress and when to continue because I feel this requires to minimum play the game for a couple of continuous hours without saving which I am not used to at all, I normally play for like 20 or 30 minutes and save to continue later, but this asks of me to play continuously if I want to progress at all, since saving is basically a "knowing when to do it" choice here and I have to at least have a decent hour long gameplay worth saving, but I have little by little moved forward, however I as a beginner might benefit more with choosing from the get go strong characters like Abella or Marcoh, but I really want to play with Marina and I like more the magic aspect of her so it's a tough choice yeah

One of my favorite things about F&H as a series is that unlike most survival horror titles, when the game asks you the usual "There is a lever here. Use it?" or "There is an item here. Take it?" there's a very real possibility of danger if you do in fact, use that lever or take that item. Always drove me nuts when games like this would do that "Oh I dunno, you might regret doing that!" constantly, yet never actually y'know, following through.

Honestly after a few failed runs my advice to fellow new players is to avoid as many combats as possible. Playing as Levi my main issue was thinking of fighting and looting enemies to progress, and overall there’s really only a few enemies I’d fight early on to progress if I could keep going, but this run also has resulted in arguably the most amount of progress into Old Town I’ve gotten. 😅

You can skip character creation and the intro, and you can skip the train conversation by selecting the option that says something like "I need to be going" (it's a bit different for each character). For long, unskippable conversations like Pocketcat, you can hold down Z and speed through it

There's only one at the moment: you have to use Daan's ability Magna-Medical during the same battle your companion died. If the battle ends, you can't do it anymore

Oh yeah, know these comments are sort of old but you should also equip armor on Daan that reduces the chance of a specific limb being cut off and then cut off the protected limb. Not sure if it still works but if it does, you will get your party member back and (usually) not lose a limb.
