So many nice things to think about sewing. I’m getting a little sewing in so that’s a good thing. Florida has been little cool in the mornings but quickly warms up anywhere from the 70’s to 80’s with nice ocean breezes.

For the Boden stripy shorts and jacket, you could try looking at some upholstery fabric to use to replicate that look, I’m thinking. You get some fab designs in the home furnishing departments. And thanks, Whitney; fab as always! 🙏

The strappy top with the floral from Blackbird fabric, if you made the KnowMe pattern with the poofier sleeve but lengthen it to just below your elbow and made the skirt hit just above the knee, that would be an awesome dress for Italy for you! All great ideas!!

Peek-a-boo patterns has a couple different athletic bottoms that have/are skorts. I have the Athena pattern but haven't made it up yet. My mom and I have made a few of their baby patterns, though, and they were pretty straightforward.

That red shirt dress is DI-VINE!! I have Butterick 6762, which I've not yet made but seeing that RTW dress has definitely put it to the top of my Spring/Summer 'to make' list! Love it! It's so helpful and inspiring to me that you're able to match patterns to RTW garments. Especially when I realise I have the patterns you're recommending! I can see it when it's pointed out to me, but until that moment I'm blank! haha. Thank you so much for sharing!

So excited to see the athletic wear! Unremarkable polos are going for $90-100 and they wear out fast. Patterns and fabrics are a challenge. I find a short placket like the one in this pattern harder to fit, but it should be easy enough to lengthen it. Kwik Sew or Jalie had a well reviewed polo pattern, too, if I recall. Please tell us if you find good UV-resistant wicking fabrics, for tops especially. I'd like to try a lightweight sunblocking turtleneck or half-zip.

I’m trying to eat thru my stash so I can get more fabric. But it’s very hard to keep from ordering more. I definitely have a fabric addiction. I’m working on another WbM Overshirt for Dad’s birthday and I pulled out a cotton canvas that I’ve probably had for at least 10 years. I might have gotten it for a Renn Faire costume but don’t remember. It’s teal blue and I’m putting a red interlining in it. It was 60” wide or I wouldn’t have had enough.

Hi Whitney - thank you for a great STL video - I am not one to follow fashion so they are especially interesting to me. It always cracks me up how different we are in sewing respects (you're warm, I'm cool; you have a bigger bust and narrower hips and I am the opposite), but similar in others (height and the fact that we both have a son and a daughter). So...if the pattern's silhouette works for you, it's probably not a match for me (which is just as useful). Wishing you much success as your life and business grow. Thank you for teaching me something every video.

I always find these videos so inspiring! The last jacket also looks like the new Pattern Emporium pattern that drops this week.The Tessa Sheath dress with puff sleeves in jersey is brilliant! I have a beautiful piece of cobalt blue jersey that I bought for the final version of my LN tee for the fitting class, but ended up not liking that pattern on me in jersey (rayon was much better) and didn't know what to do with it.I would 100% wear that dress all summer!

I had to laugh at the pyjama with a shelf bra bit. I have a pj top that allows the girls to escape from every opening lol. I love Pattern Scout but I think the new Pattern Emporium jacket pattern would also work well for the last look. I'm obsessing over that pattern but my sewing room is packed up in prep for moving house.😣

I enjoy all your videos. These Sew-The-Look help me put a type of fabric with a style. Can you suggest how to familiarize myself with the types of fabrics you generally use? I don't feel like the stuff from Joann's makes your cut :-)).

A few months ago (maybe a year) I put out a PDF with the newsletter that listed all my favorite online shops as well as my favorite fabrics. I'll have to send that out in the newsletter again! My biggest suggestion would be to order some samples of fabrics you might use the most!

Atelier Scammit is a new pattern company for me and I've bought, but not yet made up, a couple of their patterns recently. I am waiting for module 6 of your fitting course first. I could spend serious money on their patterns :-) You speak such sense, Whitney.

I would just grab an inseam pocket piece from another pattern and put it into the side seams. I would grab one that also gets caught up in the waist seam so they don't flop around, but I would want pockets as well!
