My car doesn't have a lever, to depress the foot e-brake you have to press it down further which releases something to let it come back up. Also, while pushing the button is not required, it is handy for drifting when you only need the handbrake engaged for a second or two.

My Subaru doesn't even let me run high boost until my blue light turns off which means it's up to operating temp I feel as if the engineers who designed it did this for a reason.

The handbrake thing can be settled in 2 minutes by consulting your vehicles instruction manual. With most vehicles it is recommended that you should NOT press the button when engaging the handbrake. Go check for yourselves. Thank me later.

The roundabout one is sooo American. We aren't used to them at all, but they're trying to push them really hard in certain states as "more efficient" than traditional intersections. Mind you, they do work fine, until Uncle Cleetus comes along in his 1978 F-250 that's patched together with pop rivets and busch light cans, and plows right through the traffic without a care, or Barbara, the head of the PTA comes along in her Mercedes SUV, yapping on the phone, not paying any attention to the cars in the roundabout.

With a BS explanation that makes NO ENGINEERING SENSE! The noise is annoying, and if not designed well (eg older cars), the ratchet CAN AND DOES cause enough wear for failure to occur. I'm considering making a youtube video that ACTUALLY EXPLAINS the engineering principles behind metal on metal wear as "Engineering Explained" gave a very poor explanation which has resulted in a lot of 13yo keyboard warriors thinking their #$%^ doesn't stink running around thinking they know better.

And some cars that have a floor mounted parking brake don't have a release lever, so it would rachet. Proving that it's ok to not press the button while setting the parking brake. Still, I press the button anyway on some cars. My Volvo 240 has a loud parking brake mechanism, and I don't like the way it sounds. Pretty much every other car I either will press the button or I won't, it depends on whether or not I push the button.

+Andrew Cacpal It's simply to disengage the ratchet. If you're ever in a situation where your ebrake is used for an actual emergency, chances are you're not in park. Don't just yank up on your ebrake, 'cause your wheels can lock and you'll panic. You have much more control with the button pressed.

In an emergency, virux, you should never use the handbrake. The back wheels will lock up and you'll skid. If you use the service brake however, thanks to the wonders of ABS you'll be able to come to a safe and controlled stop. Unless of course your service brake fails, in which case, your screwed no matter what you do.

The handbrake button doesn't need to be pushed - It's easier to operate without having to hold the button down - it's an audible confirmation that the ratchet is working - the wear is very minimal to virtually non-existent; has there ever been a case of a handbrake ratchet wearing out from too much use? This practise seems equivalent to advising people to do the same when "plugging in" a seatbelt. other than that great video as always and very relatable

Fog lights shouldn't cause glare unless you are driving a lifted vehicle. The lights are angled to shine under the fog to reduce the light reflecting off of the water droplets, that's the whole point of fog lights.

You don't have to press the button for the E brake. The amount of friction necessary to create substantial wear on the hand brake would require you to literally try to rip it out. All the 80s and 90s cars that I have had never had a problem with the hand brake and I've almost never pressed the button. I like the noise tbh

I've worked in a job driving a van and never pushed the handbrake button in, the van does 180-200 miles a day and ratchet has never worn on the handbrake according to the mechanic, he said there is no need to press the button in. The ratchet machanism is there for a reason on the hand brake. The button is to disengage, and a ratchet is so you can have a little more accurate sense of where you're pulling it with the clicks, and the button was ONLY put there for disengamement.

The handbrake thing is false. I often creep when light is about to turn green, it's more fuel efficient and smoother to accelerate from 5kmh. I really hate people who always use fog lights, why why why. You completely missed people who speed past you as you are decelerating due to red lights. Break Learn to ignore them. I attempt to drive smoothly, meaning I slow down very early if the right turns red and don't use brakes that much. Most are stupid and just seem to accelerate to a red light and then just brake hard. But it's fun when you just cruise slowly and pass them when the light turns green and do that repeatedly, they never seem to understand how dumb their behavior is though.

That's an old technique used for carburetor engines. I think every or almost every vehicle made these days is EFI, they can run just fine in the cold.

Emil Borchert Other than the fact that the oil is cold and thick so your wearing your engine by reving it high. Just wait 10 seconds for the oil to get to all the parts, and drive gently for 5-10 mins and the coolant will be up to temp and the oil will be thinned out considerably so it can actually flow in the engine to do its thing.

Ok so the ratchet on the handbrake? really? The car lights being on actually reduce accidents it is the reason day lighters are now standard. Creeping at the lights is physic 101 an object in motion takes less energy than an object stopped (ok so I am grasping on the last one, I just like to creep)

Daytime headlights are compulsory, not fog lights. highway code rule 211,"you MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced...you MUST switch them off when the visibility improves". It is an offence and you can be fined for it, you fuckwit!!!

Bob Hope Does the Tesla have a steering wheel? Check. Break and Accelerator? Check. Gearshifter? Check. Do you drive it? Yes. Is your point valid? No. The Tesla isn't "trying" to make you anything. It's an inanimate object. It could drive autonomously, yes, just like ANY other car with the sufficent technology inside, which is amazing. Just because you CAN be a passanger, doesn't mean you are. You could still knock out the bus driver and drive that thing yourself, so to speak.
