I would also add that while people are mostly looking at it as the absolute meme it is, another reason is that there is a lot more safety stuff to the point where drivers need help from the crews to strap themselves in so you wouldn't really be able to get back in like Marlin did, and even if someone tried, NASCAR probably wouldn't allow them to keep racing as they're pretty strict with no one being allowed out of the car outside of long delays and the like.

1:55 In Sydney 2015 for the Australian Supercars Championship, a navy/army helicopter was doing a fly over of pit lane. During this time, its engines were put up to account for the hot weather that day, and as such caused a massive wind gust down pit lane. Sponsorship boards and panels from the Holden Racing Team came loose from their refusing rig and struck driver James Courtney in the back of the ribs, puncturing a lung. He survived the ordeal thankfully, and nowadays helicopter flyovers are down away from the pits or the track in general. In short, a massive spinning fan near big billboards, panels, fences etc. is never a good idea.

- Racing back to the Caution flag Hard to belive this even was a thing. It was for literally for everything (Rain, Wrecks or debris) and it was far too dangerous as it was a very close call for both Track Officials & the car that was in trouble. This almost cost an ARCA paramedic the life and Darrell Waltrip was injured in the Daytona 500 because of this rule. You can also wonder how that 1999 Darlington race would have ended If both the rain would have let up and the track would go back to Green. Jeff Burton wouldn't have won i can gurantee you that but at the same time saying that Racing back to the Caution is completly gone is an overstatement as it's still somewhat intact in modern day - The No Red Flag lap avilable with a certain amount laps to go Seriously? Similiar to the Racing back to the Line. It's hard for me that started to watch Nascar in the era where the red flags have been available throughout the entire race that Nascar in the early 2000's both had both Racing back to the Caution flag and it was very rare to Red flag races within 5 - 10 laps to go. Take the 2004 Aaron's 499 for example that ended under Caution because the Red Flag wasn't avilable since the race had gone past the 184th lap of the Scheduled 188 laps - Races to finish under Caution This was just stupid general. I mean i can understand the 2002 Pepsi 400 when Ryan Newman Wreck his 12 Penske Car with a couple of other cars. I know that both drivers and fans were expecting a Red flag but that never happened so fans were obviously outraged. - No Pit road speed limits This rule even made it dangerous for everyone on the car, Hard to belive that this rule excited for 41 years before a tragedy made NASCAR realize how both Stupid and dangerous this rule was.
