The M-code was a 351 Cleveland with a four barrel, not four valves per cylinder. The “v” stands for venturi, not valve. I believe it was a 70 and 71 engine option. 72 and 73 got the 351C Cobra Jet. Shelby and Ford did not offer any Shelby Mustangs for the 71 model year. The last Shelby Mustangs were made in 1969, and the 70s were carry-overs thst didn’t sell.
@mylanmiller965629 күн бұрын
Yes the M code was the high compression 4 barrel it was a 351 w in 1969 and a 351 Cleveland in 1970 and 71, then in 1972 Ford went to the low compression Q code and called it a Cobra jet.

I saw a video fairly recently about that car. I parked next to a '93 Cobra R back in '93 or '94 when I lived in L.A. It was at City Walk at Universal Studios parked randomly. I used to read Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords Magazines and at least one other Fox body Mustang magazine at the time, so I knew it was a very special car. This was at the time before one would see Lambos, Mclarens (not even available come to think of it), and other exotics regularly on the streets of L.A. (although in the San Fernando Valley there were quite a few Panteras). There were a few Ferraris buzzing around (mostly 308s, 328s, and the later 348s and 360s), but not in the numbers all exotics started to appear driving around after the 2000s hit. So someone was showing off a special car driving the Cobra R to Universal that night, although I am guessing not too many people knew much, if anything, about it, other than me and a handful of others who might have crossed paths with it.

@@mylanmiller9656 the 351W was new for 1969 and came in both two and four barrel versions. The 351C was introduced in 1970 in two and four barrel forms and the 351W, though still appearing in Mustangs, was only a two barrel. The 351C was the only 351 four barrel thru 1974, before disappearing though both two barrel motors were used. The 351W four barrel reappeared in 84-85 as the 351 HO in the truck line. It had a Holly carb and made 210 net horses. The 351W was finally fuel injected being its power levels up to about the same thru the 90a in light trucks, including the Lightening version. 9:03 "Isnt that cool?" Coolest thing I have ever seen on a car!!! How can I install something like that on my Nissan Altima? I need some more horsepower anywhere I can get it. Thanks
@Thesaurcery4U2CАй бұрын
Hood pins will not give you more horsepower. If you are not aware of that, please don't try to install 4 hood pins on your Altima, 2 can be difficult to align if you are not mechanical or a carpenter. If you are talking about the reversed air scoops, those will have to be custom made, plus all the routing of a custom-made box/intake tubes will cost 3 to 4 grand only to have it run worse because you are getting more air than your factory tune knows how to deal with, so throw another few hundred bucks on top of that to get 2 to 5 horsepower to the wheels. (maybe?) If you want more horsepower the cheapest you can get it is to buy a car with more horsepower to start with. Next most affordable horsepower you can get is NOS/ Nitrous Oxide. Other than that figure $100 per 1 horsepower gain going up. The engineers at Nissan have that engine running at its peak performance for its application, a sporty family sedan that will potentially run for 200k plus miles. Anything that you do to modify the engine for more power will lower its lifespan. The more power the less miles. If that doesn't matter to you? NOS Have it professionally installed having a footswitch that activates only when you push the gas pedal all the way to the floor. A 50 shot should be very noticeable and fairly safe Retard the timing, maybe cooler plugs and let er rip. Maybe get it done for $1500us? Not sure I haven't played with my cars in this way for years.
