What's the difference between East Coast and West one, in terms of pricing?

Moved here in 2014 from Michigan and living in one of the suburbs. Don't regret one bit. Atlanta is so much better than Michigan and so much better than other big cities like Chicago and New York. Love it here. The lush green forest, the mild 4 seasons, the diversity in people, culture and food. And the friendly people. Will never move back up north. The key is live and work in the suburbs and you'll be fine. Living and working in the suburbs will eliminate most of the regrets you listed.

It’s better than Michigan but definitely not New York or Chicago lol and there’s one season in Georgia .
@shaunphan90395 ай бұрын
@jhndxtr9249 I only see more and more people from New York and Chicago moving here but not the opposite. That says a lot. Still 4 seasons here, just not as extreme as up north. Winter is crazy up north. Nothing will get me to move up north again.

Buying stocks might seem easy, but picking the right one without a solid plan is tough. I've been trying to grow my $100K portfolio, but the tricky part is not having clear plans for when to buy and sell. Any tips on this would really help.

I lived in metro Atlanta from 1983 - 2014. I really enjoyed living there up until about 1998. By 2010, I was ready to leave. Luckily I got out in 2014 and I am very much enjoying small town living. When the traffic is bad here, it can sometimes take 15 whole minutes to get across town LOL.

My hubby and I moved here in late 2018 from the Bay Area because our commute to San Francisco was 1hr to and 2+ hrs home and we were exhausted. Luckily the office is in Alpharetta and not downtown so pre Rona his commute was 15/20 minutes. The humidity is horrible but our neighborhood has a pool and we have AC. I hate the cockroaches, we have a wooded area in the backyard so it feels like they are just waiting for us to open the door. We can’t open our windows, WTH is up with the screens not fitting in the frame, they lay against the window not keeping anything out! On a happy note my allergies are better here than in California. I’m not a night owl but on occasion, usually when I’m sick, I eat later and nothing is open that’s frustrating when you’re sick and hungry lol. The mosquitoes here are huge. My hubby asked what they were when we first saw them. Our cars were covered and he didn’t believe me when I said they were mosquitoes 😂. The cost of living is better than the Bay Area. We were able to buy a house. We couldn’t afford one in California. We are a little north of Atlanta but we are about the same,e distance as when we lived in the Bay Area to San Francisco, the bonus is we don’t have to work downtown.

Have lived here 30 years in Buckhead. Atlanta used to be great but the crime, roads, and traffic are horrific now. Unless you like hip hop culture, trust me, stay away. Shootings happen very often. Its just not a good city any longer.

"Hip hop culture" ruined the city. Definitely not combative, insecure and violent black people. Call it what it is.

Heres some considerations before moving to Atlanta: 1. Hot humid summers - If you want to be outside and don't like the heat - Dont do it man. Toughest summers in the country by far are in the SE USA. Atlanta no exception. 2. Hood culture - Atlanta is home to a lot of hood culture - Be aware of that before you move into a neighborhood. (Rule of thumb if it touches I-20 its probably garbage) 3. Bugs. Lots of bugs - ATL is in the middle of a huge forest 4. Traffic is tough because the city is so spread out. Lack of public transportation coverage, best way to get around to the suburbs is on the interstate; which causes traffic. Live close-ish to where you work.

Pretty much on target. Commute: True; do plenty of research. Consider renting first if you're unsure. Transit: True. It's good to note that Gwinnett and Cobb counties do have express bus routes into the city and connect with MARTA rail. Public schools: Gwinnett County is generally tops but still do you research. Lots of private school options. Winter: mild in general. Atl has a big, newsworthy snowstorm about once a decade. Apparently we're due for one. Spring: allergy central. Lots of pollen of many kinds. Summer: Hot & very humid "Palmetto bugs": I just call them roaches, but yes, we have them. Fall: Feels great partly because summer is so hot.

@garysims4099 Midtown, Inman Park, Glenwood Park, Summerhill, Edgewood, etc, etc. This video is about Atlanta, not East Cobb and Alpharetta. That's way out in the sub-suburbs. Of COURSE you have to drive to everything way out there. Why would anyone want to live out there if they had a choice?

Traffic is bad even if you choose not to drive. If you want to walk, be sure that you're in one of the places that actually has sidewalks. Beltline is typically pretty crowded, especially the East side trail. Transit sits in traffic with the cars because there are no dedicated bus lanes. Cycling? Your choices are that crowded beltline or joining the road with the cars and buses. Pray that the drivers don't run you off the road and block the few bike lanes.

Don’t move here unless you have to. I’ve been here for almost 40 years. Atlanta used to be a great place to live, but has become a hostile environment for many due to the traffic, crime, expensive rents (due to the awful property management corporate investors buying up most of the single family residential housing and increasing rent exponentially), humid heat, and cultural division. GA does NOT have top notch schools - that comment is a joke. Look up the statistics about how Georgia compares with the rest of the country. If you need any financial resources, go somewhere else more liberal, because our State governor and the majority of legislators do not have interest in providing much needed mental health and financial resources.
