I'm so glad my parents never broke my trust by like, hiding medicine or whatever. We (my brother and I) were basically just told straight up "It tastes gross, I know. But it'll make you feel better. A bit of yuck for a lot of relief, okay?" Knew exactly what I was going to get, and why. And if the medicine was TOO gross for me to stand, they tried a different flavor. (For example, honey-flavored medicine made me retch just from the smell), so we went with cherry. Still disgusting, but tolerable. Just be honest with your kids and they'll return the favor.

I truly believe that so many of the “old wives tales” (like the sparkling water on a towel on your head trick) come from mothers knowing the child is not really sick or hurt or has a headache but just really wants attention, so since giving real medications to someone who doesn’t need it can be dangerous, they get creative with “cures” it gives the child the attention and the “cure” makes them feel like they can stop either pretending Or over acting.

7:06 This reminded of an actual trick my dad taught me. If you nick your face or another area with high blood vessel density with a razor and it won't stop bleeding, place a small piece of toilet paper or printing paper on it. The paper will stick to the wound and prevent the mess that usually follows sharp cuts like that. Please note that it's specifically a 'hack' aimed to stop slow but steady bleeds from tiny cuts in your skin; a shaving accident, for instance.

I'm a big fan of the idea that almost any experience is effectively universal, and that a failure to relate is almost exclusively a product of willful disregard. I may not know what an unbalanced bra is like, but everyone has experienced something or other being unbalanced and the discomfort that imposes. Similarly, we all have experienced taking off some article of clothing that contains or applies pressure to parts of our bodies after having worn them for an extended period. An easy example in both cases are socks and/or shoes.

There are things where warmth can ease the pain. But it doesn't need a salt bush, just use a how water bottle or a warm gel pack. And usually it's warmth for muscles and cold for joints. But anything that lats for a while warrants a visit to the doc, because there might be some underlying issue.

Correction on the banana peel: leave it on and trust me, it WILL do something… not heal the frostbite, though. My mom tried banana peel for a wart once overnight, and woke up with a chemical burn! Also, the lemon may not work for the rash, but it did remove the Elmer’s glue from that heel… 😂

@@g.strobl4458 Pesticides used on food generally don't have a high enough concentration and are too volatile to remain on plants all the way through shipping and sale. Additionally a pesticide generally can't be a strong base or acid or it would damage the plant. Putting whipped cream in your hair seems like a good way to get sour-smelling hair. Bras are too expensive for cutting them up. Glad someone else acknowledged this. -refraining from making jokes about all the bush stuff- Waste of a condom. Glad you had the same suggestion I was about to make about putting ice in a Zip-Loc. As a dental assistant, I’m glad that you admit you’re not perfect about flossing. Most people aren’t, but will lie about it. No way in hell will egg make a puncture wound disappear. Wtf? No, it doesn’t remove stretch marks. Trust me. I’ve tried everything short of shelling out thousands for laser therapy.

When it comes to the "ring is stuck" problem, dunno how well floss works, but it seems pretty uncomfortable. Using lube from a condom might work but those things cost money and I don't think you'd want to carry around an opened one after using it to get a ring off, so... kinda wasteful. Lubricating your finger with the random (non-toxic) oil/fat of your choice, seems a lot more reasonable. Olive oil, butter even? Lard if that's what you have at home? Just use a little bit, nice and cheap, and should work just as well.
