When my grandfather was on his deathbed the subject of tattoos came up and my uncle and I stated we always liked the tattoo on granddad’s forearm ( basic military tattoo). He stated “ yeah, that was the stupidest thing I ever did.” So my uncle and I inquired a little deeper as to this fact. Granddad said the two failed attempts to escape from the Germans in WW 2 were due to that tattoo because the Germans could confirm his identity by the tattoo. So grandpa spent 27 months as a POW, he did escape a 3 rd time and got away but may have been a lot less without the tattoo.

Like maybe tattoos/body markings are all bad unless they are created directly by God. We can see similar dichotomies with idols. But, that leads back to the previous statement of your tattoos limiting your employment options. If your career aspirations do not include such professions such as chief of staff at a hospital, attorney, airline pilot, hedge fund manager, Fortune 500 CEO, etc, then a visible tattoo will not matter. Just stay away from those careers. Those careers aren’t meant for everyone anyway. Just stick with jobs where tattoos do not matter.

Don’t know about Celtic tattoos but Polynesian tattoos are highly based in Polynesian culture itself. Like I understand if you respect the culture and just admire it but the tattoos themselves mean things in Polynesian culture that only apply to Polynesian people ya know? @@Milo-lq2cs I kinda know what youse mob are getting at here because from an Aboriginal standpoint a lot of my tattoos have significant meaning to me but mean something else entirely to others such as the various cultural insignias I have on my right arm being that of 2 guns (pump Action shotgun and .308 rifle) crossed with a fishing spear on top and wrench on the bottom on my bicep as well as a fishing/hooked knife on my wrist with seaweed wrapped around it which slightly obscure the text "kill all betrayers" with a small -XIII- on the blade handle (symbolising the magic/culture that was lost) with various types of fish hooks on my fingers and a mangrove tree paw print map on my forearm which leads to a constant food source where I'm from but for some reason I get one look and all they see is either hippie, airy-fairy nonsense because of the trees and flowers or they think I'm part of some gang/cult or (like in most cases) it's both. But yeah nah that's just my 10 cent's on the issue, I guess what I'm getting at from all this is that the things that people don't understand are the things that they are usually afraid of thus making the thing that you believe in (be it music, art or religion) exist in an infinite number of spaces that could either be good or bad depending on that individuals dealings with said group. That's a great tattoo. To me tattoos should have a meaning of some sort behind them even if it's small. I have a few tattoos I want to get, one of them being the swirl kakashi has on his shoulder in Naruto. Naruto means alot to me and the series is the reason I am how I am today. I would also want to get a branch on my forearm with some sort of flower (most likely something like this 🌸) on it. Either 3 or 7 flowers to represent my 2 cousins and grandad who sadly passed and maybe my family just because.

Got a tattoo at the age of 28 back in 2017. Always thought of what I would get since I was 19. I never rushed it. In 2016 I decided I would get a dragon 🐉 tattoo since I was born in the year of the dragon and is also my favorite mythological creature. Went to Thailand 🇹🇭 the following year and got the tattoo there on my wrist. It’s size is between small and medium. It’s perfect. Most of the time people can’t notice it too. Sure maybe if you work in a profession that is a little more on the conservative side and having hand tatoos might, wrongfully i should mention, effect your job security, maybe dont get that kind of tattoo. But everyday theyre getting more and more accepted as a cultural norm since more people are understanding that it really doesnt actually reflect anything about the persons character other than "i like how this tattoo looks" and thats fine.

Okay, Aaron, check this out because I have a pretty good counterargument for you. First, when I was stationed in Japan with the Navy, we went to Singapore. There, I got a tattoo of a Coy fish and my Japanese wife's name in Old English letters above it (pretty Sweet). Second, while serving in the Navy, I was a steam plant engineer and almost lost my ring finger as a freak accident cut my finger to the bone. This was after 2 years of marriage. I had a simple all-black ring tattoed onto my wedding ring finger. After all is said and done, Aaron, we just celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary (December 8, 2021) and my tattoos and marriage are still going strong. BTW your style advice is second to none!
