As a father of 3 I will never understand some of the parents in these stories (assuming they're true). Kid: "dad something keeps waking me up at night, I keep hearing noises in my closet and something keeps moving my nightlight". I was thinking the same thing. For the dad to get so angry like that… wild and not right at all. And to dismiss the concerns over and over. I’d have some lasting resentment over that with them probably and would feel like I can’t talk to them or go to them with things. I hate that they were a$$holes like that, shame on them. They definitely should have apologized, something could have happened to their child. Been taken, etc. Not being able to apologize or admit when you’re wrong isn’t a good quality to have. I hope one day they do apologize or the person in the story confronts them

Im 43 and still use a night light. When I was 13 I used to sleep with my bedroom door closed with the lights off. One night I closed the door, turned off the lights & started my night time prayer. In the corner of my room I heard a deep exhale. Like someone took a deep breath & let it all out. I pulled my blanket over my head & started praying more. Then , it happened again. I flew out of my room so fast & ran into my sisters bedroom. Even to this day I cannot sleep in complete darkness. We lived out in the country then with no neighbors for miles so I know it wasn’t anyone outside. Whatever it was, it was clearly in the corner of my bedroom by my closet door. I slept in my sisters room that night & never will to this day, sleep in complete darkness anymore.

What?! NOOO That is SO terrifying!! I am so sorry you went through that. I would have probably had a heart attack. Especially since you never found out what it was! I would also never sleep in the dark if something like that ever happened to me. The scariest thing of that nature that happened to me was when I was six years old, I was sleeping with my window open (a very dangerous thing to do if you live in a home where someone could reach the window,) and a cat jumped through the screen and into my bed. It was just a regular little cat, but I lived in a neighborhood where it could have easily been a mountain lion. Now I only sleep with my window open because I live on the third floor, and there's no way anyone could possibly climb all the way up there.

I was only 8 listening to them and as much as I know they negatively affected me, the stories have saved me from a few potential situations where I could have ended up in one of them. What a great 10 years this has been! When I was a kid, I would never stop watching these horror stories, and be terrified of anything dark for days after. Now that I'm in college...the situation hasn't changed much. Honestly, I wouldn't change it for the world. Thank you for all the memories Mr. Nightmare!

Yeah story 3 really pissed me off, what kinda parents dismiss a child’s fears and uneasiness, ESPECIALLY one with depression? They TRYING to give that kid more depression? Smh
@michaelgualtieri651Ай бұрын
Right?? Like okay, I'll admit if it happens for one or two nights than okay, maybe they dismiss it for being too tired or something. That's one thing. But if this happens continously for nights on end, and it's exactly the same situation, then fucking check the room! Even if it turned out to be nothing, make your son feel safer. For god sakes, they treated it as if he was being a brat when he just wanted love/comfort from his parents. Is that so wrong?? And honestly? They were WAY too calm about how they handled the situation. Like the way the situation sounded, it would've sounded like a wild animal got into the room (which obviously turned out far worse, but you get my points), and considering were they lived it was possible. So what, were the parents just gonna wait till their son was potentially attacked by a raid Racoon or Skunk? Terrible. Just terrible.

Wow no wonder that kid experienced depression his parents didn't have one ounce of trust in him. I feel you, dude. My parents were the same way. My parents have always been very distrusting of me because of my autism and it hasn't helped my depression. Even though they have been open about my autism on the surface my parents especially my dad have never taken me very seriously even when I've grown into adulthood.

Some parents never do. Lie too much - intentional or not - and the parents can't ever fully trust anything the kid says, or admit they're right for once because so often they aren't or assumed to be lying again when they can't easily find whatever the child claims they saw or heard. Especially if the kid gets an ugly attitude of "I told you so!" and keeps bringing it up. You're not going to get a genuine apology acting like that. It'll be done just so you'll stop

I feel like I should've declared my independence so to speak many years ago.
