Sam, I think you are so enthusiastic and brave to take that leap of faith to move out of the country and fulfill your goals. I had always wanted to move out of the country myself but was never able to find the right way. Now as I get older it makes it much harder to fulfill that dream of mine. Always cherish that experience.

Yes I lived ABROAD. I am Brazilian and in 2020 I moved to Ireland, with the intention of doing an 8-month exchange, I had a job and I took English classes. During the months I was in Ireland, the desire to take Italian citizenship ignited in me (because my grandparents are Italians), and when I finished my exchange in Ireland I simply moved to Italy to get citizenship and stayed there for 4 months. Today I returned to Brazil to finish my graduation, but I fell in love with the experience of immersing myself in a new culture. It was, for me, the best experience of my life. Everything was useful as learning, especially the problems I went through

Living in Japan was one of the best experiences I ever had. Like you, I was ready for a new chapter, excited about the unknown and ready to find myself. Growing up on an island limits us to what we can do and experience. But moving to Tokyo and living in a giant city, not able to speak their language and living with people I never met before only excited my soul more. It helped that my roommates were Peter Pan (Eric from Florida) and Aladdin (Joe from New York)! I was 22 when I moved to Japan and was fortunate enough to see a lot of Asia in the 6 years. It’s like I’m looking back into time as I watch you experience life. Thank you for always being so positive and real. Never lose that. Letting people see the true you will never leave them guessing who you truly are! Love from the Aloha State! 😊

I was born and raised in the USA, although my mom is an Argentine immigrant and my dad was an American that lived a big part of his childhood in Argentina. I have lots of family down there too. I’ve always felt a strong love for Argentina and ever since I was little I’ve always imagined what it would be like to live there. Definitely one day soon I would love to just pack up and move down there. I love their way of life, their culture, and especially their attitudes towards family

I had similar experiences when I was living in Costa Rica. I don't think there's enough space in this posting for me to mention everything that I'd like to, so, I'll just highlight a couple things. (I also lived in Spain for almost a year, but I was living with Cubans, so, the Castilian Spanish never ever rubbed off on me). My 1st time in CR was when I was an exchange student with Penn State Univ. I was placed with a family and I was treated as if I were one of the siblings for real. That touched my heart, especially since I was an only child and always wanted to have brothers and sisters. When the semester was over I returned home and went back to CR every year for at least a month during my vacations. All my long term relationships were from there, which I adored. The original siblings (from CR) got married and called me Uncle Lenny whenever I visited (Tío Lenny). Fast forward a few decades, they told me that they thought I was their uncle for real, which touched my heart like you won't believe. I'm sure you have many people with whom you can practice your Spanish (which is very good). If you'd ever like to practice with me, hey, I'd be honored. I guess the best way would either be via Zoom or the What's App app on our Smart phones. Hopefully this message gets to you. ¡Dios lo bendiga y muchas gracias por dedicar tanto de su tiempo a comunicarse con nosotros! Hasta muy pronto si Dios quiere. Chao.

I loved this video, as I love to hear you speak Spanish When I was 22,I went live in Mexico city with a college program. I lived with a Mexican family and I went to classes 5 days a week. I thought the Spanish I had taken in high school and then college sufficient but it wasn't. At first barely understood the family and could only say a few words. Somehow I got around, made some friends, although I was in the closet, went to a Gay bar, and met a few guys. My hair was dirty blond and they called me "Guero" which is rubio. I think I learned that I really appreciated living in the USA. I also learned how kind and helpful the Mexican people are I do wish I could of stayed for 1year or 2 like you ..Nos Vemos.

Love this! I think everyone should get to experience how other countries and cultures live! I just got back from 3 weeks in Mexico and I had so much fun! I was learning things about how the people we were always around live, got to see some amazing things, was taught some Spanish everyday and it was such a wonderful experience! Also, I was really impressed that since the last time I was at our resort, they completely stopped using plastic water bottles!! In each room there is a glass pitcher and glasses and then there are water coolers all over for you to refill those pitchers, as well as your water bottles! It's crazy how much plastic that saved! Cannot wait to see more of the world! PS - come to Canada and visit me in the Canadian Prairies! Just do it in the summer when all the trees are lush and it's hot as Mexico out! XD Cheers!!

Sam, your video chats are so authentic; indeed shared some similar experiences as part of a student exchange program in Deutschland. It was a home & home exchange, so we stayed with students that had stayed with us in the US. It was a fantastic experience to learn how our nation is viewed by another people & to be seeing the US from a different vantage point. A totally different perspective emerged. I found myself wanting to become more "German" especially after encountering US tourists & how rude & uneducated they were about the world & the country they were visiting as guests. Also found living relatives with whom there had been no contact since 1848 when my mom's family emigrated. That was an incredible experience, as they were an ancestry going back to the city founding in 782CE. My favorite joke they all told was what is the shortest book in the world...U.S. history...lol. Would love to share more with you sometime.

Great video Sam. We never really know just how good we have it until we visit other countries. Not that other countries are better or worse, though some are. But as an American, I think it offers us a greater appreciation of what it is to be free in a truly diverse country. We have one of the highest standards of living in the world and yet we seem to waste so much as a disposable society. Yet with the advent of the internet and cell phones, I get the sense that we are becoming more insular. We talk through phones and computer screens, yet in the process, we miss the true interaction people used to have when meeting face to face. My Great Grandfather was a second cousin to Porfirio Diaz who was president of Mexico which I have visited often. A beautiful country as well as its people, but as Dorothy once said, " Auntie Em, there's no place like home." Just some rambling thoughts Sam....:)

Sam I have only recently discovered your channel (I think I found you first doing a leg work out) and have since stumbled across you on TikTok and then Instagram. I really enjoyed this video Sam...and I suggest on your next trip to go to India. India is such an incredible magical place. It will change you again and only for the better. I love going there. I love the people, the colours, the food, the noise, the beaches, the culture, there's so much to love. So if I may suggest somewhere for you to visit on another trip...go to India...

Hola Sam, I did the Peace Corps "thing" about 50 years ago.....the re-entry is still happening every time I go to the grocery store or Wal-Mart.....why so much choice!!!! My return was from Bogota to New York City: WOW! Having studied and failed at the piano for 5 years.....I really enjoy your segments with your music. Nice fingering as my teacher used to say!!! Keep up the culture comment pieces...I am reliving mine as you jog my memory! I still cannot get over that Colombians did not enjoy ice cream cones...at least in the late 1960s. Or dessert for that matter! Pues, eso es!!! Si la Virgen quiere! Hasta pronto!

Reminds me of when I was in the Navy, overseas. The first time I went on the subway in Hong Kong. People bouncing off me like I was in a pinball machine. My friend told me to move back to the wall, and watch...they were all doing it to each other. It was not "rude" to them, it was just "everyday commuting".

Hola Sam !! ¿Cómo estas? .

Every country has its amazing attributes. I have gotten the opportunity to visit the U.S for 2 wks around christmas as a young teenager, i got to experience my first snow around christmas which was an awesome feeling. The walks felt like nothing and i could walk blocks and blocks without feeling anything because the weather/change in atmosphere as a foreigner was so different you dont pay attention to it much. I never got to eat out as we always had home cooked food (love you aunty)❤😚. The buildings were huge and so tall and love the fact that they seperated their garbage arrangements. I visted magarita in venezuela a few times with family, its such a beautiful country with rich culture and people even though the situation with development and access to certain resources and their currency exchange rate being so low due to conflict between leaders and its economy its sad and i feel for the people.🙏. Its such a beautiful country. I would even love to be bilingual so I can communicate with people whenever i revisit becausr my grandmom grand father and dad were from venezuela
