I'm 70 so I was raised in the 50"s. I have to tell you that I sat watching and listening to the video totally gobsmacked . The things you where telling women to do to be elegant, I learned as a child growing up in a working class family. These habits became part of my everyday lifestyle.

Beautifully said. I am way younger than you but I too grew up and was raised with grace polish and what I call as if I went to finishing school. My mum is your age hut she is the most Elegant woman I know and her mother was too. I used to tell my friends I have never seen my mum unkempt even when she came home from work. She always looked good yet she does mot wear any makeup. She does everything graciously I have never smelled her sweat. From the part of the world I cone from.people used to call them Caucasian as if She always smelt like perfume. I love the sanitary pad part and hair in the sink not just that men even your own relatives should never see this in the bathroom. Even you should never have that - dirty vlothes and the sane bed clothes was great too. Especially for African women. As fir repeating underwear that is alarming to me. Great video - great tips. Things I think you need to be taught as a child

Mmm, personally , I always disliked someone (anyone) just dropping by without giving me a heads-up first, even if they are as close as your significant other. I tell everyone not to do that. I got this from my mother, who always told me that it was rude to do this to people. My own Dad pulled something like this on my Mom when they were dating, while she was home alone one day, deep cleaning the bathroom. My mother was actually scrubbing the toilet bowl when my father just dropped in and found her like that. She was mortified and also very upset with my father for doing that, and my Dad thought it was funny to catch her in that sort of predicament because my mother was always refined and put together.

Married in the early 90's. My then husband hated seeing me in sweats around the house. I was a homemaker with 3 babies! I thought he was controlling...and he was. But one day I saw several women shopping with sweats, sloppy jeans and they looked like they just gave up. I changed my look. Recently working from since 2020 and I realized early on that wearing bed clothes and house dresses doesn't put you in a good mindset for work. I now get up, wash face, teeth, meditate for 20 minutes, get dressed and start work. I am in a much better place.

I have always maintained a pleasant and inviting home. And I have always taken care to put on an attractive outfit (even if it’s just jeans and a sweater), jewelry and practice good hygiene. I feel it’s important because it elevates myself and others even if it is only my husband and myself. I like the calm that I get when I look around a tidy home, and I also like to give my husband something nice to look at when he sees me each day! However, you challenged me with regard to eating out of a container. I often do not take the time to “plate“ my food, unless my husband and I are sitting down to a meal together. There are always ways in which we can grow in elegance, both internally and externally, and so I thank you for your channel and your challenges! God bless you my elegant sister!

Hi everyone I have other elegant idea I would like to propose and that is IRON YOUR CLOTHES. People today look like they just rolled out of bed, all wrinkled and just plain sloppy. They have taken the causal look to the extreme. They have no pride in there appearance and first impressions count in business and social. Everyone seems to emulate the next person instead of being their own person. Take a look at the average person and actresses of the 40"s and 50"s and how unique and crisp their outfits looked and the pride they expressed. I enjoy reading your thoughts.

Great information. 👍 The old people would say cleanliness is next to Godliness. My great grandmother from Cambridge, Maryland was extremely neat and clean. My grandmother from South Carolina loved nice things in her home. They would tell me how beautifully grandmother would decorate on a slim budget. The bathroom and kitchen should always get more attention for cleaning and sanitizing. Your home is your sanctuary and a reflection of you and your personal taste. The common goal is keeping it organized and clean even when you have to move or remodel. Living well is the best revenge. Hard to function in a dirty, dysfunctional home.
