I almost never buy clothing from Amazon. the few times I have, it’s been brand names I trust, like Adidas, Nike, etc. I have a coworker who gets most of her clothes from Amazon, and it’s not to shame her, but they’re just so cheap-looking.

Wow! You hit every nail on the head with this one! I agree with all of these, and I think you touched on two things that I’m really going to concentrate on from now on. 1)I won’t EVER wear shoes that hurt AGAIN (and I don’t care what ANY influencer from any place thinks of my Uggs or my tennis shoes. My feet have been through a lot, and I don’t CARE what they think!) 2) If it’s a garment I have to “fuss with” or keep adjusting. This also includes fabrics that are uncomfortable on my skin (wool and anything with a metallic thread on it drive me CRAZY!) I look back at pictures when I was supposed to be dressed up, and I was miserable AND IT SHOWS. Not wasting the money, and NOT playing the game. Just not. While I’m here on this “Thanksgiving” weekend, I’d like to thank you for your channel, Anna. It’s TOPS and I learn so much, so if you read this, know you have a big fan in me! Thank you, again! ♥️🌻

While I do love some influencers, I've had to unfollow the ones who promote Walmart & Amazon cheap stuff all the time. This video of yours is so spot on! I've agreed with all your choices and follow the same suggestions and actually saved money along the way. Quality over quantity! Quality is not always expensive either. You can really find some great deals out there.

I don't mind the ones who do a mix of both, as Anna also does from time to time, if they can find a good product at those places for less money. However, I agree, it would be beneficial for all across the board if we returned to paying more for high-quality items (preferably made here to help our economy) and buying less. Hi Anna. Thanks for all the great advice in your videos. I'm not an Amazon shopper but people I know who are say it's hit and miss on quality and fit so I don't even bother. I'm big on brick and mortar shopping. I like to see, touch, try on and decide right there. For items sold only online I make sure there's a store near me I can return them to if need be. My closet is not cluttered at all because I'm pretty strict with myself when buying just about anything. I wasn't always like this but learned my lesson after having to wear or donate stuff I regretted buying. Oh yes, PLEASE do a video on shoes! Agree 100% about ruling out the colours that just don't flatter you. I had a colour analysis done and it saved me soooo much time and confusion. A lot of 'basics' that all fashion pages recommend made me look so ill and I couldn't figure out why - turns out a 'warm spring' doesn't do black or white (!) so the classic white tee (that always made me look ill and feel sad) could finally be discarded, and same with the black blazer. I agree with the sentiment that you should wear whatever you want, but if some of what you want keeps getting ignored or donated or returned... it might be time to just figure out what your colours are and hang there :)

I loved Cerave as well, and used it last winter when I got chapped from the cold. However, be aware that it and many other products (esp. used in "slugging") use petroleum jelly in them. Yes, that is a petroleum product, which is being absorbed by your largest organ, designed to keep toxins out. I have since switched to products that do NOT include petroleum product. They are easy to find, not always that expensive. I did a google, found brands that are actually sold at the supermarket.

These are very personal and individual, mine included: 3/4-sleeves, tunics/long tops, gathers above or below the bust (I’m a bit busty and these give that Buxom Milkmaid look), black, gray or purple, and any synthetic fibers. It helped me a lot in the beginning just to cast my eyes over this list before shopping. Over the last 20 years or so, I haven’t needed to consult my list much. The best thing I ever did for my wardrobe was to ban plastic fabrics and materials, my clothes are all comfortable and breathable now. Also, I focus on brands that are likely to use natural fibers, which rules out fast-fashion. I noticed over the years that most of my donations were in synthetics which I just couldn’t stand wearing twice, like acrylic sweaters.

I agree about the ripped jeans and fake leather. Hate that stuff. I also don't buy too many prints. Also cheap clothes annoy me but it seems like everyone makes cheap clothes now. I have some clothes from 20 years ago and they are so well made compared to clothes today from the same companies. I feel like I have to wear a tank under all my shirts because they are thin and sheer. The only reason they don't fall apart right away is that I hang them up to dry instead of putting them in the dryer. The dryer is a clothes killer. I also believe in good quality shoes, but I can't afford them so I do the best I can, getting them on sale or only buying them occasionally.

Agreed. Everything is so cheap. Even brands that use to be considered good brands have outsourced for materials and it's all crap. They've also changed the sizing, I think it has something to do with where they've outsourced (china), the sizing is just terrible. I've been a solid 6 for most of my adult life (mid 40s now) and went pant/jean shopping and was having trouble fitting into 10. The cut, the way they're sewn, everything was terrible. The outside seem of the jeans started cutting to the front starting just above the knee so by mid calf the side seem is front and center. Horrible.

Ditto on EVERYTHING you said in this video. Well said and helped to reinforce my feeling about ripped denim, faux leather, the soft yellow, prints, and especially Amazon clothing! Thank you!

I’m having a harder time buying clothes more than ever before. I don’t like any of the styles you mention here, but I also dislike (and look terrible in) high waisted pants, puffy sleeves, long ruffled dresses, sloppy sweatshirts and cargo pants. Most of all, I hate the garishly bright colors that are in all the shops. I think this summer’s trend can be summed up as “clown.” I hate it. I honestly don’t have anything to wear that is in style.

I can’t do the ripped jeans either. I tried and they were cute - lots of compliments, but I didn’t feel right in them.

I agree with you about scarves. I buy them and then "fuss" with them the whole time they are on and never feel they look right on me. They look so good on other people. I keep one or two for the winter outdoors here in Northern AZ but inside I only admire others in scarves.

Yes to so many of these, especially the shoes! I’m done with uncomfortable shoes. I so regret all the years I spent in heals.

Big chunky sweaters. Like your scarf analogy, I find myself pulling on the neck, bunching them into my jeans or jackets (I live in a northern climate) and so I have stopped buying them and instead go with thinner sweaters I can layer with.

This video resonated with me! You are so on point. And I too don't look good in ripped jeans., lots of prints, cheap sweatshirts, pastel colors or scarves. I still have the scarves and this video has prompted me to donate them. And I absolutely do not buy anything that I am not in love with or that is comfortable shoes included. And another fact that you pointed out once you get rid of all that stuff that you don't love or that looks cheap or doesn't fit you right miraculously you have tons of outfits

Thank you Anna, finally coming to point where I need to buy things that will go with everything and not just cuz its pretty in the store. Usually I dont but happens on occasions. Closet is congested and its stressful. I literally have things i have t touched in year. Time to go! Invest in quality pieces even expensive as you mentioned that blue leather jacket. Quality is what counts. I have things that went bad and I take care of them as much as I could. Probably the wash method usually hang dry. Time to clean out and organize!

I am not wearing baggy, flared pants, a style I just don't buy into - just too frumpy. I feel they just don't have longevity and I would have trouble styling them. Thank goodness for straight legs. I also have a leather jacket more than 20 years old, living in Florida I just don't have much use for it. I am tired of fast fashion and do love good quality basics that just need a tiny tweek to make them stylish. Thank you for your valuable insight.

Yes I love AllSaints!! I've just bought a bomber jacket, which is made of 100% wool and genuine leather, on sale, and it's beautiful. For the material the price is absolutely fair. I totally agree with you on things that you don't want to buy, especially faux leather, cheap shoes and scarves. One of my faux leather jackets just cracked and I've only had it for like two years, worn no more than ten times 😅

My sister just cleaned out her closet and gave me several leather jackets. They are so old! Yet still beautiful and in style. My faux leather was cracked after a year. Not doing it either!

I am with you sista on everything!! I was thinking about it the other day looking at my closet. Sooo many new things I do not wear. I am super picky about shoes now. So yes! Make a video about shoes.

Shoe are so important and I have RA and can’t wear cheap shoes. My favorites are Keen, Ecco, and as crazy as it sounds, Ariat cowboy boots! I were them with Ariat jeans and short leather jacket and the look is awesome and more importantly, I’m so comfortable!

I too don't buy too many print tops anymore, & also pale yellow, I have two nice t shirts I wear in summer, pale yellow & banana yellow, the banana one, I like better. Thanks again for sharing your time with us Ann!

Your heels across NYC made me remember a funny career footwear story!!! I’m a nurse, and every day, a dear friend of mine would wear her heels into work…I beat myself up because I didn’t put in the same effort. One day, I finally told her how much I envied her attention to detail, because I just didn’t put in the effort. She laughed out loud and said she called her heels “10 minute shoes” because she could only stay in them for 10 minutes 😂😂😂

Hi there! I love your videos! I agree with your list! I would like to see your shoe collection and the logic behind your choices as well as an updated video on bras! Many times I chop things out but it turns out that having the proper underwear is what will make the outfit fit better and feel more comfortable!

I bought a real leather jacket online yesterday that had been on my wishlist for a while now. It was an investment for sure but i know my faux one will crack in a few years . I got a good deal on Black Friday .

I loved this common sense video. Yes I'm over pleather too for the exact same reason you are. And you can't wear the same shoes in NYC as in Texas ( remember Milania) took me 10 years to figure that out. You won't catch me dead in torn jeans lol.

No ripped jeans, no faux leather, genuine leather only, no prints with exception to small stripes.

I so agree with everything you mentioned. I have 2 large drawers full of scarves that I never wear. Ripped jeans are never going to look nice. A trend that needs to,didappear. Scarves just add bulk. Faux leather? Just so many nicer fabrics. I have almost eliminated most pastels. I love the brown sweater and black jacket you are wearing. That would be perfect for me as well. Great video!

I agree with almost all your “never buy again’s.” I decided years ago I hate almost all plaids (well, I love houndstooth and similar, but are they really plaid?) no turtlenecks! No crew necks! I cannot abide anything up against my throat! Or ugly shoes! If I ruin my feet, I’ll re-examine. Nothing oversized, I feel fat and dowdy. I keep getting attracted to large botanical prints like some Renaissance painter designed them for me, but I will NOT buy them since I fear I’ll look like a upholstered couch! No polka dots. But I totally agree one must learn the styles that suits you and make you feel awesome!
