@@RoadtoFinnish Thank you very much! I actually would like very much to know how is like the everyday life of a student at Aalto, maybe some tips on time management. How time-consuming is attending to class during the week, how to be productive as an Aalto student? Do you get to combine sports and to join some clubs while studying? Thanks a lot! Can't wait to be there by autumn semester and change the game :)

@@lorenacruz4024 No problem at all :). Also, all of your suggestions are excellent! Ill definitely incorporate those topics into my upload schedule. I just wish I could visit the campus so I could do more vlog style videos. It would be much more fun to talk about these topics that way. But we have to see how the situation develops. Btw, if you want to know whether or not one can do some volunteer activities in clubs, you should visit my LinkedIn profile :D. Its a sad story of a person who almost didn't want to let go of the different student activities one can have at Aalto.

OliverR That’s a great idea ! Although I know how time-consuming it actually is to make a video from home, not to mention to shoot on field ! I’m excited with any topic you upload :) Sure thing! I’ll have a look on your LinkedIn profile. Thanks to your videos I found out how important and enriching volunteering is in Finland and also within the Aalto community . It’s definitely on my plans. Thanks Oliverr!

Thats great to hear. The most common issue I've seen with many of my friends is that once they have chosen their path, they didn't want to change it. This can lead into a situation where you graduate and start working in a field that is of no interest to you. This then, can easily lead to burnouts or even worse.
@a.g364

@@RoadtoFinnish Yes that's true infact at the beginning I didn't want to change because I was scared of all the changes but studying some subjects became so annoying that I had to do something. To be honest the fields were very similar but the approach was different; I always liked economics and corporate governace but I was told that industrial engineering was a better choice for that subjects and work, unfortunately the " engineering approach" is what I dislike the most.
@RoadtoFinnish
@RoadtoFinnish 5 жыл бұрын
@@a.g364 Right, this sounds super familiar :P. Many fields/subjects have similarities but have a different approach to them. For example, studying economics at Helsinki University is equivalent to a similar degree from Aalto University but Helsinki Uni has much more focus on academia and a mathematical approach. Ive heard that many people almost give up with those studies due to the large amount of super hard math involved - some have even migrated to Aalto for the more business-heavy approach. These are all based on peoples preferences, but its really annoying that no-one tells new students about the different approaches and the fact that it is not the end of the world to change your own direction.

😅 perhaps you could learn Swedish literature or something else random. Just kidding of course. Actually as a serious note, I really recommend that you study at least a few courses of finance or accounting because these will give you some really good view points to how business people think and what logic is used when making investments decisions. Also, if you e.g. want to work in the financial sector as a developer, I really recommend minoring in finance. Having a combination of majoring in software development and minoring in finance is like putting money in the bank (pun intended). Banks and investment companies are automating more and more of their operations and they need more and more highly skilled developers to build and maintain these systems. Having those skills + understanding the basics of the financial market and the tools they use is a huge advantage when applying for these jobs (ahem, which are usually really well paid).

hello oliver can you please make a video about what job available for international student? and will that job can lead to permanent residency, is hard to look for a job if we don’t speak finnish? even though we are fluent in english best regards
@RoadtoFinnish
@RoadtoFinnish 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ben, this is a complicated issue and would depend fully on your background. Ill try to answer your questions in general terms, but do note that I would need a lot of information about your background in order to give a somewhat accurate assessment. 1. Yes, ill definitely touch the topic of jobs for international students in the future. 2. A study permit will allow you to work in Finland for a specific hours per term. This means that if you are in Finland with a study permit, you will not be allowed to work full-time. This also means that any work you do while studying in Finland will not allow you to apply for a permanent residence. You can, however, apply for permanent residency after your graduation if you are employed and/or looking for a job. More info can be found here: migri.fi/en/after-graduation 3. Finding a job without speaking Finnish is 100% dependent on your educational background. Cant answer this without knowing more about your background.

Hey and first of all congrats on being admitted to study in Finland! You are going to have a lot fun here! My only big tip would be to prepare properly for each of your classes. This helps soooo much especially with difficult math courses where the professor moves super fast and you dont have the opportunity to ask him/her to elaborate on every point. Otherwise you will end up spending a lot of classes just staring at the board without understanding a thing about what is being said. Good prep work means that you do not have to do as much work after the class trying to figure out everything on your own. If you are looking for any study tips or techniques, i really recommend that you check out these two youtube channels for help: kzbin.info kzbin.info

I just completed my BBA with a mojor that i hated. It takes about 4 years to complete it. Bt i got no chill. Its there any chances to re-admission on BBA in finland?
@RoadtoFinnish
@RoadtoFinnish 4 жыл бұрын
Ach that is really sad to hear... This is a common mistake that way too many people (me included) make and it sucks to hear. Im sure you could apply for a second BBA degree in Finland but instead of doing this, I would recommend that you consider applying for a Master's degree. Your BBA should qualify you to apply for an English taught Master's degree at any Finnish university / school of business. This way you would get a new (higher) degree and you could perhaps branch to something else. What do you say about this idea?
