I've found a few errors but none of them are particularly valuable. Coin collecting is a lot of fun unless you're wishing you're coins were worth millions when they're not. Thanks, Daniel!

One thing I keep seeing over and over is 1971 Lincoln cent "no mintmark error", or any other coin before the P mintmark was added. If you are a new collector the best tool to have is a coin Red Book, even if it's an older one.

biggest pet peeve is when someone googles a coin and think its worth $25,000...What they dont know is either they dont actually have that coin or they do have a very poor version of it and have no idea how much the condition effects that price...Also the one that sold for $25,000 was the most expensive auction wining bid in history lol that coin may not even be as popular or sought after now as it was during the time of that specific auction...its literally the very best case scenario for that coins value which probably wont ever happen again... second biggest pet peeve (im in a ton fo coin groups on Facebook) people asking the value of a coin they found with no mint mark thinking that means its rare or valuable..l???? (rolls eyes)

Beginners should avoid "error" collecting altogether. It's way too advanced and subjective. So many other and more interesting areas to focus on. I believe social media has portrayed errors and varieties as the most popular way of collecting and it isn't.

Daniel, I've enjoyed all your Info Vids for about 4 years or so. Thank You for your knowledge. I have purchased many manuals you have suggested, again, Thank You. I enjoy collecting World Coins, but also do U.S. coins as well. The only time I will use Google is if I am unsure of what country a coin is from. What I do is type in as much info from the coin as posable, usually I get back positive info on where the particular coin originated. I have many Standard Catalogue of World Coins for reference, weight, size, composition, etc. You are correct, this is a Hobby, meant to be enjoyed and have some fun. Yes, against your warning, I have put together coins for my kids. But, I let them know that what they have is for education for their kids and maybe grandchildren, and not to expect to get rich someday.

This is a great video and great advice!!! First is I’m not waiting to settle this before I die and leave it to my wife or kids… they have never gotten into Coin Collecting, my daughter said she just wants a few key coins… my son will collect later… so I’m grading my Morgans (those worth it) and selling off extra commons… including all of my extra Proof and Mint sets… I’ll leave a nice word doc with instructions? Sites to use later and a few dealers to trust and those to avoid…

Reminds me of a Mercury dime cud I found recently. My initial reaction was thinking I found something big. But as I thought about it, it occurred to me that it's a common date, and that there were likely many of them. Not to mention it isn't overly large. While it may be more valuable to a collector of mercury dimes, it isn't overly spectacular. I've learned to curb my expectations, and try to be more conservative. Though I have to admit, the bags of 'Junk' mercury dimes I've been picking up have some pretty striking coins in them 😳 Makes me wonder if they're even sorting through them. It can be time consuming lol

There are a lot more uneducated people collecting coins than people that have a good bit of coin knowledge really. To get educated you need to do a whole lot of reading of coin books and online in coin chatrooms etc. Not just that but looking at tons of coins at shops and coin shows. Learn how to grade based upon what graded coins grade. Lastly, don`t go cleaning yoyr coins unless you know exactly what you`re doing and even then, most experts will tell you, don`t clean your coins. Most times your well-intentioned cleaning will lower the grade and just ruin it it some way that lowers its value significantly. If you`re into it to make money, collect smart. How do you do that? Look at what coins never go down in value over time. Better dates and varieties for one. Or even junk silver if its for a long-term investment. Twenty years from now silver will most likely be much higher and you`ll be happy you got them cheap compared to that future value. Mainly if you invest in coins and/or bullion, think long term, not 3-4 years.

At my age I can see much less than when I was 20 or 30. The U.S. Mint has lost their marbles. Then I saw the COD and then maybe I watch a video you had put out last year some time addressing this issue. I just wish they used a different font, something that looks more clear when it comes to the G, if you hold I one way looks like a G and if you hold it another looks like a C.

If you need a microscope zoomed in 50x to point out something that looks ever so slightly different its not a ^&$%ing error! its just a slight variation on the die due to wear or pressure. Even worse are the once who invent new names to say they found a new error/ variety.

I was going to ask you about a coin actually a couple coins I have three that I found looking through Penny bags couldn't figure it out no one knew anything. Then I looked on your site and I clicked on one of your internet addresses in your description and I think I may have found what you call a variant on the cap dye error. These examples look like a penny on the obverse and the reverse but the rimage looks as if the penny got stuck between 3 rotating or non-rotating dies this is a description and what it did is it raised the edge or the rim of the coin. It also shrunk the diameter down just a smidgen. Have you ever seen something like that? Keep up the good work enjoy your videos thank you

Grading companies are experts, but they're not perfect nor 100% consistent.

I’m troubled… When I broke my hip and my toe I decided to start working on 200 pounds of coins that I have collected since I was three years old so I bought a scale I bought a microscope and I put CoinSnap on my phone and listening to you I’m disheartened Because I have no reputable people in this area of southwest Florida to take my coins to. I have gone through over 5000 coins. I have 1400 on CoinSnap that I have kept and then I have little plastic Ziploc bags for them and I have them separated my foreign coins my silver coins, silver dollars even my 1955 double die, which isn’t as strong as the one that they always promote. But what I’m getting from you is why bother as well take them down to a coin thing and dump them all in the junk and get$.90 on the dollar. I’m not sure that’s what you want to portray and dishearten us and that is how I feel.

Using coinsnap is a bad idea, I will never stop telling the truth. I am not responsible for how you feel, coinsnap ads lie to people and I am not holding back that truth.

@@CoinHELPuI’m pretty sure this person may be just trolling you but who knows. This happens in paper currency collecting too people don’t like hearing that their “ broken ladder” notes aren’t worth anything

Most don’t trust the experts at the local coin shops. I talked to one that purchased a 1918 buffalo nickel for $20. The guy that grades his coins told him it was an 1919/17 and he sold it for $875 and the buyer got $4000 for it.
