Why I suck at dancing: - no confidence - embarrassed - negative mindset - can’t transition into moves - can’t body roll or wave my body
@nakanaf4 жыл бұрын
One word. Practice.
@zainm78154 жыл бұрын
I used to not be able to body roll either 😔 it took me like two months to get it down but all you gotta work on is isolations. Isolate your head, chest, stomach, pelvis by sticking each one out in that order. If you wanna body roll upwards isolate your knees to pelvis to stomach to chest to head. It’s gonna take time get it to flow but you just gotta get the movement down first and then you’ll be able to flow through it as your body gets used to the movement
@twice80914 жыл бұрын
The reason you might lack confidence is bc you comparing yourself to other fantastic dancers you’ve seen, try having more fun rather than trying to be as good as your favorite dancer it might help, it helped me a bit :) (btw i’m only a beginniner i’ve been dancing for a few months 🤧)

I swear the close your eyes when you dance tip is really helpful! When I try to dance to a random music i hear and have my eyes open, I'm like "HOW DO I MOVEE!!" and I panic. But when I close my eyes, moves just pop out from no where like magic!
@tl03rizz194 жыл бұрын
Same here. I wonder why that is?
@ramsaygordon76864 жыл бұрын
TL03RIZZ Possibly because when your eyes are closed you can focus on the music and how you feel when you move as opposed to how you look.

My foundations were really in ballet, so when I tried other styles of dance it always had an undertone of softness. It's so hard to unlearn.
@nareshkumarmajji86974 жыл бұрын
You don't have to unlearn it's all about finding connections in different dance styles
@shadowvenger204 жыл бұрын
Understandable. But there’s no need to unlearn it. We all take various life experiences and influences into our dancing, and that includes other dance styles. You’ll find other dancers will strive to work towards the softness and grace you get from ballet, while you’re trying to incorporate edge and sharpness into your dance.
@charalv79244 жыл бұрын
That will make your own style and you will get recognition from that, so don't try to unlearn it ! It's actually pretty dang cool to dance, for example, hip-hop with a ballet style ! I really mean it, there is one guy in the K-pop industry I know (not personally) who has a ballet style while dancing and damn, Jimin of BTS if you wanna check it out ^^
@np-cos40653 жыл бұрын
I totally understand! My foundations are in ballroom dance and I mostly did Lindy Hop (though I did enjoy others like Tango, Swing, and Rumba) so I always find myself transitioning into the basic "kick, kick, rock step, kick..." pattern 😅
@Nunmisonu4 жыл бұрын
Reasons from the video: 1. Because you think you are a bad dancer. ( overall negative mindset, theres a difference between im a bad dancer & I have a lot to learn ) 2. Fixed definition on what bad dancing is. ( there isnt really such thing as GOOD dancing, similar to how theres no such thing as GOOD hair. It's all a matter of perspective) 3. never got proper foundation training. 4. haven't taken action 5. you're too focused on speed. 6. Overcomplicating the process. 7. Stiffness. 8. The music youre trying to dance to 9. Trying to do what you see, rather than what you feel. 10. Leaving out movement history. Watch the video for their explanations :)

I've watched many steezy videos. Following and taking their advices. (I teached my self btw) I danced everyday, positively thinking I'll improve. I practice In front of a Mirror to work on my Facial expressions. And to make the moves sharper, also Recorded my self dancing. It's been 5months since I started dancing keeping steezy's advices. And guess what? I really improved so much within 5 months. Thank you steezy! Someday I hope to become a great dancer like you guys. I really enjoyed watching your videos. It really encouraged me and made me practice harder. I'm looking forward to more videos in the future ^-^

@OriginalOrangeJuice4 жыл бұрын
Things that make you a bad Dancer. 1. Think you’re a bad dancer. -Don’t believe you can dance. -Stop labeling yourself with “I am”. 2. What you define bad dancing as. 3. Never getting the proper foundational training. 4. Because you haven’t taken action. 5. You’re too focus on speed. 6. You’re over complicating. 7. You’re stiff. -Stretch everyday. 8. The music you’re trying to dance to. 9. Trying to do what you see and not what you feel. -Close your eyes when you dance. 10. Leaving out the music history.

A few years ago I decided to throw away the idea that I was too old to get serious about dancing. I was self conscious at first watching so many amazing young dancers in my class but I went at my own pace. I decided to download Steezy after Clay guest taught my dance class and that was the best decision. I got to build my foundation and the feature where you can turn your camera on and watch yourself with the Choreographer helped me so much. I started filming myself too and it helped me clean. The Steezy Facebook group is also awesome and supportive. I love it so much. Because of the challenges I'm starting to learn and retain choreo a lot faster than I used to. I feel more confident and I like what I see when I record myself now. 😊

Number 10 is soooo underrated! And I respect you even more now for pointing it out! It always irks me to see people teaching dance styles/moves without any connection to their backgrounds and roots! (I've seen a few especially with things like voguing, etc.). So props to you, Jessie & Clay! ♥️

I did close my eyes when I was dancing, especially when I need to understand a piece or something, but teacher was "Stop closing your eyes why r u doing this?". One more reason why sometimes we end up thinking we r doing everything wrong whether it's dancing or any other activity. Listen to yourself guuuyz. Thank you steezy as always❤️

Steezy, THANK YOU FOR THIS TYPE OF VIDEOS! ❤️🤩 Every point you list, I see if and/or how it applies to me and what can I do to improve. One of the most useful reassurances and tips were “don’t be afraid to take front and center” (seriously, this brought me much more confidence, especially when we dance in groups) and “nobody cares if you mess up, only you do” (this really decreased my fear of messing up, and if I do, I just continue as if nothing happened). I also started taking extra classes from different choreographers - this expanded my knowledge about different styles and techniques (best decision of my life currently)! Please, don’t stop making videos about improvement (I’m sure you won’t but just to be sure), they really help every single dancer, wether they are a beginner or advanced! ❤️
