The main life skill I'm currently learning is how to be confident. I attend a dance class and there's this one girl whose confidence is MIND BLOWING. Even if she doesn't know all the moves, when she dances you get lost in her performance. I realised that when I dance I don't believe in myself as much as I should and I started noticing my self doubt in other areas like work. I'm working on changing that now :)

@BY-sh6gt5 жыл бұрын
@@katyarmyphantomhive1745 I used to have the same problem though, but JUST DO IT haha i mean you literally just need to DO it,, and If you feel you just messing the choreography, *just make it worse* (i mean, in a good way lol). It helps a lot
@violetstudying96184 жыл бұрын
I know my comment is really late haha BUT I know how you feel I've been there and trust me it gets better if you push yourself, do things even if you feel uncomfortable. Actually dancing itself helped me A LOT with my confidence and especially the dancing community is the best like omg most dancers won't judge you even if your move looked funny or if you mess up they will help you as you probably noticed already! Starting to dance might have been the best decision I've made in my life so far it changed a lot for me, especially my confidence improved ♡♡

9. It's way harder than just learning choreography
@RookieN085 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't even be learning choreography if you don't know the dance fundamentals. Start out learning basic grooves, footwork, hip-hop, popping, locking, krumping etc. Then freestyle to internalize what you've learned. This whole 'learn and freestyle' process should have taken you 1-2 years and its WAY BETTER than learning choreography. It annoys me when I see people on Matt Steffanina or 1MIL Dance tutorials be like "OMG THIS IS SO HARD WHY ARE YOU GUYS SO TALENTED". Yea no shit Sherlock. You don't even have the basics yet so what do you expect? You think you're going to learn advanced dance choreo in 20 mins when you can't even do basic arm wave? Yea give me a break. I apologize if this comes across as a rant but it just infuriates me when people start out their dancing journey by doing dance covers. That is just not how you do it. Even if you being good at the dance cover, what's the point? You just end up being good at impersonating the dancer instead of being a dancer yourself. If thats what you want, well then so be it but my point is that dancing is much more than just doing dance covers to impress others.
@lilacfloral15 жыл бұрын
@@RookieN08, I agree. I think even mixing the two can be way more beneficial then only doing covers. Learning the foundation is KEY!

RookieN08 thank you for putting it out! I just started dancing and your comment helped to clear some things out
@notdanielyong34175 жыл бұрын
@@RookieN08 yea that's really true, for me at least you don't even have to start out learning a ton of small footwork or movements, just at least attend some beginner classes where they teach you to enhance flexibility and some easy beginner level choreo, and after maybe a year of it you pretty much have the basics down and you can begin to go to some dance studios to push yourself and improve. With yourself being pushed, you eventually find yourself being able to do moves you never thiugh about, then comes your ability to freestyle, then you should record yourself, make notes on what to improve and so on
@notdanielyong34175 жыл бұрын
@@RookieN08 And I also agree and it pisses me off to see other people on dance videos saying "I wish I could dance like that" like you expect to get to where they are when you didnt work at all? And also some people on dance tutorials on REALLY hard choreo on Matt Steff in the comments say obvious lies that they think seems true, "This is so fucking easy, learned it in 5 minutes", like you dont think actual dancers will know that's a lie? ok this was a rant lol

I found it so inspiring and as a group, i found out that i was looking at the others way too much which made it look like I was not giving it my all. in theory, I did because of I when i was looking at the others i made sure my moves were not too big and seemed like the moves my teammates did. so I danced differently and with less confident. at the end of the class, I danced on our own and I found it looked 10 times better.

i have a question it seems like this video is good way to find answer so i know some dance styles (definitely not all put i know: locking, popping, krump, house, jazz, breaking, litefeet, robot and whacking... and i think thats it lol maybe im forgetting smth, if there is any major style im missing help me out) BUT what if the dance not specifically that one style? especially for choreographies to music and more "commmercial" (as i heard it being called before) dances. When I danced "modern dance/hiphop" (thats how "class" was called) i remember there being breakdance, jazz, locking, popping, moves that now remind me now of all those styles etc.... or when i watch stuff like Street Dance Of China, aside from there being dancers of specific style, in choreographies and stuff they often use moves from more mixed styles? and they even say like "oh he used krumping move" but clearly the whole dance isnt krump, that move was and the rest is more like breaking or whatever, just example. imma give example of dance i really like, "Tan Jianci - Imma Get It", i really have hard time saying what style it is, for me, even though i know some dance styles, it looks like ... hiphop? SO the question is, is "hiphop" or "modern" a name for like a mix of styles? or is there a name for such "mixed" style? and how would you describe more "commercial dances" like the ones where the dance isnt main focus but the song is? for example the kind of dances in kpop or whatever?
