Tanhaji or Tanaji , what was his real name? Was he a Koli or Maratha? Chandraji Pisal a character showed in the movie is fictional or real? Was Chandraji Pisal relative of Suryaji Pisal

Both names are found in evidences. Everyone is a maratha by evidences. There are barely references to castes. He is referred as subhedar, maavla, hajariyacha hasham. Pisal is creative liberty. Even his name seems to be well thought to show relatability to suryaji but he is not found in the evidences.

Tanaji Malusare was a Maratha. His descendants still live in Belgaum District of Karnataka. Kolis even claim Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre(Sankhpala) and Yesaji Kank(Nikam), which has now become a subject of annoyance for the Sarkhel family of Kolaba and Sarsenapati Family of Bhutonde. Maybe modern Koli claims to these families come from the fact that these families had their ancestral fiefdoms in Up-Ghat / Coastal areas and employed local kolis as Mavala Infantrymen and Sailors in their troops. But being a ruler of Koli populated areas dosent make one Koli. To sum up, these claims are as baseless as Ahir claims to Yadavas of Devgiri and Sindkhed or Gujjar claims to Parataprao Gujar.
