Speaking of not doing donuts in your ATV , reminds me when I was about 4, we first moved to Sedona. When my parents said we were going to Sedona, I thought we were getting donuts to eat. For quite a while, I called Sedona , Donut.

The point about parking in the canyon for slide rock is a big problem. I could only hope that the people who take their kids cycling down the side of 89-A are from somewhere in europe, as it's more common to literally be partially in the lane here on a bike. Drives me crazy, because no matter what the laws say about "right of way", cyclists who trust strangers in 1-2 ton metal machines to not hit them, aren't thinking it through. It's really bad in the Netherlands in particular - they literally will not look as they barrel on a bike through an intersection. Little interesting note - the roundabouts that Sedona has are also quite common over here in europe. I have to admit, though, points #5 about hiking off trail... I used to go off trail all the time! I mean like ALL THE TIME! But then again, I was typically by myself, and still a teen, so it's not like other people followed me and left heavy footprints... But it does disturb the unique bacteria and whatnot in the top soil when you walk off trail, so I still shouldn't have done it. One of my friends in highschool had to get helicoptered off of one of the mountains nearby Oak Creek Country Club, close to chicken point... The locals going after the violators is a real thing. I would know - I went after violators as well, including pink jeeps!

I’m with you on this Dawn. I don’t wear one unless I’m being forced to. Being healthy as ever. People around me wearing masks all the time and got all the boosters are sick constantly. I’m not against it but we should all have freedom of what we want to do with our bodies. God bless.

That's scary someone following you through the neighborhood like that. Hope you drove over towards the police station.

What’s the crime rate there? Is it pretty peaceful or are there any concerns?

Pretty low crime in Sedona, hard to find reported statistics. Some theft/property crime, not so much violent crime. Much lower than the national average.

One thing you said not to do was to hike off of designated trails. In your video about plusses and minuses of living here you talked about using an informal trail that started across from your residence and that there are many such trails. That seems contrary to your admonition to only use designated trails. I hope you aren't implying that only residents should use informal trails.

The video where I talk about small trails cutting through the neighborhood is probably 2-3 years old. I recommend staying on designated trails. But there are small trails that cut through the neighborhoods that are shortcuts to get a few streets over from your home. Those trails are great when you're going out for your daily walk, but I don't think they'd be very interesting for tourists.

Basic reasoning about trails in Sedona easily sorts this out. There are designated trails, and then there are well used informal trails. The well used informal trails are very obvious to spot, and as such, there's no ambiguity if you take one of them to get back to your house/car quicker. As for the implication that only residents should use informal trails - this is actually partially correct. Residents live in Sedona, understand its environment more intimately, pay city taxes, and contribute to the city day after day. So yes - if a resident is responsible minded, then using well designated informal trails is normal. I hope YOU'RE not implying that you have authority over other people's homes and surroundings, in some faux-virtue signal contrarianism...

You mentioned coyotes in this video. What should you do if you encounter an animal like that? I’ve seen videos of people hiking at night and wonder about wildlife they may encounter on a trail.

@@cre8tivity06 Hiding? From coyotes? Only if a coyote is rabid. If not, then you don't have to do anything about a coyote - they're reclusive scavengers. You'll prob never get close to one, and even if you do, they won't bite unless you try to corner one and pet it. Even then, it'll still probably run away. Leaving your pet dog outside in a yard that's not secured - now THAT is the situation to think about.
