I've created a personal tradition of lettering, in big bold sloppy block letters filled with various patterns, "MAKE BAD ART!" on the first page of every new sketchbook. So hearing you literally say verbatim "make bad art" made me really happy 😁 Funny thing is I started doing this before I officially got into hand lettering in a more serious way like I am now. I do both drawing and lettering in my sketchbooks. I've kinda always hand lettered sometimes though... I just didn't have a fancy name for it like I do now 😂

I think I really needed this. I haven't been handlettering for so long and some of the points really hit me. Thank you so much Sarah. ❤️

Omg. I really needed this. I haven't really wanted to letter for a long time. I do it sporadically but struggle with comparing my lettering to others. Not posting on Instagram really helps too! So easy to get caught up in likes and views.

These are such kind, beautiful, and sweet reminders to help get out of a creative slump. Also, I absolutely loved your “Beauty in Chaos” page where you recycled the ripped book. So inspirational. ❤

Thank you so much! I was so mad when I found my kid had ripped the book, but then it was so fun to create that page!

@@EnsignInsights It's such a beautiful spread! And I understand being mad but I'm so glad you were inspired to transform it into something beautiful and meaningful. And it sets such a great example, that I'm sure your child will appreciate it later in their life too. 🥰

Did you create those pages in that journal?? If so, 1. Wow 2. That needs to be published. People could open to a page daily like an oracle card of beauty and inspiring creation. I love your lettering style ❤

I am feeling so discouraged. I can’t get my spacing and letter size. I’m still chugging along, but it feels like I will never be able to letter on my own. I’m actually about to download your connecting difficult letting worksheets.

I always end up so discouraged when I compare myself to others. I won't be doing that anymore because I love Calligraphy too much to end up quitting because I'm not good enough

Oh I’m so glad! Your calligraphy can be so meaningful to you no matter what it looks like!
