I’m noticing a lot of upset comments on here due to some mispronunciations of words, some comments seem to be annoyed, and others seem to insinuate that I’m dumb or stupid with mockery. I just want to explain that I have several intellectual disabilities, please note I’m not victim, this isn’t a “oh woes is me” statement where I want pity, or fishing for support, I have a very great life and make the most with what I got. Nor am I using my difficulties as an excuse, but I guess more of an explanation. Sadly sometimes when I’m dealing with words that are unfamiliar to me, my brain kind of scrambles the words and sometimes just rearranges them in my head for me to make sense of them. Even writing this comment up is making me nervous that my spelling and grammar is correct as to avoid any more backlash. I promise I’m not doing this to be spiteful and annoy anyone, or because I’m a stupid or don’t know how to do research. I’ve tried explaining this process of my brain scrambling things and my struggles with words and number in the past and I’ve gotten comments like “dude you’re a KZbinr, do you research” or “you have XYZ amount of subscribers, get it right already” and maybe those comments are correct, maybe I have no right to be a KZbinr, I don’t know who makes the rules or what the rules are? But here we are, I’m going to promise to try and do better, I’m going to continue to try very hard to get names I struggle with correct, and if I ever do get a name or spelling wrong it’s not because I’m trolling you, or out to ruin your day, or because I’m dumb. Thanks for watching and I will try to do better. Thank you.

11. Barbarella was filmed simultaneously in both English and French. Fonda was already fluent in French so did all of her own French dialog. 12. Fonda regretted making the film. She had been offered the female lead role in Bonnie & Clyde but had turned the part down to do Barbarella, a decision she later regretted. 13. While home video releases (at least in the U.S.) used the 1977 rerelease title of Barbarella, Queen of the Galaxy, they contained the nudity that had been removed for the 1977 theatrical rerelease. 14. The first widescreen release of Barbarella on home video was the U.S. LaserDisc release from Paramount Home Video. EXTRA: Why did you repeatedly pronounce Vadim 'Vadman'?

It wasn't mentioned, but I am sure that you know that the opening scene of losing the space suit piece by piece in zero gravity was the inspiration for the video for Kylie Minogue's 'Put Yourself In My Place'. Interestingly, In the movie, when Dildano proposes that the password for a meeting is "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch", it is actually the name of a large village and local government community on the island of Anglesey, Wales.
@alganhar1 Жыл бұрын
Eh, its a little more complex than that. The village is signposted Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, and the Train Station is officially Llanfairpwll. On Ordnance survey maps the village is Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll. The Parish had a longer name historically, but its changed several times in the centuries. The modern name was a publicity stunt really, an effort to bring in tourism and trade. So yeah, its a little more complex. Its one of those odd cases where the name is all of the above.... No one from the village uses the full name though, they refer to it as Llanfairpwll, the rest of us Welsh generally refer to it as Llanfair PG. The only place you will see the full name is at the railway station, and a few local businesses mostly catering to the tourist trade.

It made me ponder what type of drug addled or diseased brain would even think of some of the things portrayed in the movie. Looking back, I'm surprised network TV showed it in 1991.

This was a liberated machine from the 1960s and met its fair match with Barbarella and suffered burnout. See also 'The Orgasmatron' in Woody Allen's 1970s Sleeper and the 'Sex Orbs' in the 1990s Demolition Man with Sly Stallone and Sandra Bullocks. NB. All of this is dealt with in a safe way.

Jane was not backward in coming forward. She said that she was not uncomfortable in doing 'skin scenes'. Let's face it. She had beautiful skin! It turned out that she really didn't need to expose much to be a total babe and make a movie that has been glued into the memory!

I do enjoy Barbarella and would suggest a slightly different partner to go with it as a movie double header. The 1965 Western, Cat Ballou, which also stars a mighty fine Jane Fonda as well as the man, the legend, Lee Marvin! It is another perfect counterpart to Barbarella and watching these 2 motion pictures together makes for an excellent pairing. Worth doing if you like fun, kitsch 60s movies and if per chance you also happen to think Jane Fonda was phenomenally hot, well that certainly won't be a problem! 😜

Terry Southern also wrote Easy Rider which came out the next year, 1969, and he wrote the screenplay for Dr. Strangelove which came out in 1964. I wonder how much of the final version he actually wrote, and what his original screenplay looked like. Probably it was just a mess of LSD kool aid and marijuana crumbs, knowing Southern.
