My favorite story behind the making of this movie is Jones telling Carrey “I can’t sanction your buffoonery”. Because seeing how Tommy tackled the character of Two-Face, it’s ironic and hilarious 😂
@TherealRNOwwfpooh2 жыл бұрын
He should've said "We can't sanction your buffoonery", since Two-Face is, quite literally, of 2 minds on everything (as with the preceding animated series, Harvey Dent is his much more noble half meanwhile Big Bad Harv is a combination of all of his negative aspects, thus resulting in quarrels between the 2 differing sides of his fractured personality) & often uses us/we/our rather than I/me/my when speaking about his dual identity problem.

It isn't entirely fair to blame Schumacher, as it was Warner Bros, not Schumacher who insisted on the more campy, light-hearted Batman. Schumacher wrote a script called Batman Triumphant, which was going to be the final part of his trilogy and was much darker. Also Forever saw that the previous Billy-Dee Williams, Harvey Dent had some awful accident and turned into Tommy Lee Jones! Hideous. Also led to some critics complain that Batman Forever was 'Whiteout Batman'. Of course you also have Jim Carey playing... well Jim Carey as always.

And I've heard for years that Kilmer was hard to work with, but watched an interview with Michael Biehn, who starred opposite him in Tombstone, and he said it wasn't true for him. He did acknowledge that Kilmer (and himself) tended toward perfectionism, so maybe that's one of the problems. He described their rehearsal for the final gunfight between Doc Holliday and Johnny Ringo as taking a whole day, and both of them wanted it that way. It is definitely an awesome scene.

I heard Kevin Smith saying on Fatman Beyond that he spoke to someone who works at Warner Bros and they said that there is a much longer and far darker version of Batman Forever in their vault. He said it has the original beginning at Arkham Asylum and the giant bat vision/dream is in it aswell the other deleted scenes and other scenes not seen anywhere else. I've heard of a fan cut called- Batman Forever: The Red Book Edition. It apparently has all the deleted scenes added in and is supposed to be very good. On Twitter there has been a hashtag movement when Joel Schumacher passed for WB to release the longer version in a mark of respect for him and the fans but not much has came of it. #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut

It's crazy to know there is a completely darker take on this film, involving more depth for Two-Face specifically. Going back and watching this film as an adult, I still LOVE Jim as The Riddler, he nails the Gorshin energy!

Saw it at the River Oaks Theatre. The theater was packed but I think we've found our seats.

Kiss From a Rose doesn't need Batman and vice versa, but I'm glad it helped Seal bring that song to life

I wonder if the Jim Morrison line in the comics was a nod to Val Kilmore playing him in the Doors Movie

I worked on Batman Forever for a few weeks and later on B&R for a couple of scenes while they shot in New York City and Long Island. It was a very educational experience.

Kiss From A Rose was on Seals LP before hand & wasn't made for the movie. Joel Schumachemor had heard it & thought it would be a great addition to the soundtrack.

The best way to enjoy ALL the Batman movies and TV shows, just consider each one a induvial entity from a different universe.

Saw it in the theater and it felt corny back then, but the sound track was the shit for the 90's. I admit it, i rocked Seal.

As I probably wrote in a comment posted here from another KZbin account, I actually enjoyed both of Mr. Schumacher's presentations from this franchise. It may not be the same as the ones overseen by Tim Burton, but I find them equally good for different reasons. I lean more in the direction of enjoying George Clooney performing Bruce Wayne and Batman then Val Kilmer, but that's about personal taste more than anything. Hoping Joel Schumacher rests in peace.
