It never scared me personally, I've seen other movies with "dolls" that terrified me. So much so that, even as an adult, I'm uncomfortable around dolls! I can't remember the first movie that did it. One, I can't remember the name for the life of me, was about a kid that had a ventriloquist doll that had "psychic abilities." That one got to me. And when I had gotten a little older, that one scene from Tommyknockers in the police hq. Needless to say, I've been a horror fan for 90% of my life. And the only things that make me "squirm" a little is dolls and mirrors. 🤷♂️

Great video! It blows my mind when I hear about how many parents hated this movie. This movie was a huge hit in my family when I was a little kid and my mom actually thought it was satirically funny. For those of us who can remember (myself barely) the doll craze was REAL. They were blitz marketing dolls like My Buddy, Cricket and Teddy Ruxpin and a couple of years earlier Cabbage Patch Kids, Wuzzles, Popples, Pound Puppies, Jem, Nosey Bears and tons more directly to children during afterschool hours and Saturday mornings in ways that haven't been seen in decades. With all of that going on and then Child's Play comes out, this movie about a doll that resembles the popular toys of the time and it murders everyone and has the soul of a serial killer, my family treated it like satire. We loved that movie!

GOAT horror series. Even my children love to watch around Halloween. Freddy, Michael, Jason, Chucky are my Mt. Rushmore of horror icons!

My mother showed me this when I was around 3 when it first came to video. She enjoy my squeals of terror enough to buy me a doll that looked exactly the same to sleep with. She even encouraged its name to be Chucky, refusing to call it anything else.

Favorite part is when she opens up chucky to find no batteries. As a pre teen in the late 80’s, that was terrifying

I love how Minty always has the Jason mask and Spiderman in full view in his videos. It's 2 of my favorite characters. 😀

I loved horror movies since I was a young kid so I tried to get my kids into scary movies at a young age. I decided to start them off with an old black and white twilight zone episode and it happened to be the talking Tina episode you referenced at 2:47. I told them if it's too scary just say a code word (they chose banana) and I'd turn it off. The minute the doll said "I'm talking Tina and I don't like you", my kids both screamed BANANA!!!!! And they slept with me for several days lol. Now they're 21 and 16 and they still don't like horror. I had to bribe my son with subway to watch the new It with me

Another Child's Play idea would be a Sci-Fi/Comedy Approach. A Scientist decides to test out a machine that allows him to switch places with an action figure. In order to return to his normal form, he has to get his brother to reactivate the machine.

I actually watched the Child's play movies when i was 10 years old, and my mother didn't had a problem with that.

The 80s had great creative films no cgi just real effects...
