I lived near this area in the 1990s and there were movies being made constantly in the area. I remember The Hudsucker Proxy with Paul Newman and Jennifer Jason Leigh being filmed about a block from my apartment.

Months later.... at least the landmarked historic building in skyscraper history will continue to stand. Macy's took the old Marshall Field's store and restored much as that is saved. Some cities that lost their grand old stores also lost the buildings. So in the state of retail today. Chicago still has much to be thankful for in downtown retail still on State St and Michigan Ave (Mag mile) Oak and now Rush St's high end boutique scene etc. So many other cities just lost it all and so many iconic early skyscrapers still stand preserved in Chicago and repurposed as preservationist saved many that almost were lost from old Movie Palaces to the old Library etc.
