Fun facts about stone henge. A while back they built a replica only a few thousand feet away, out of lighter materials just across the road. Someone pulled a prank and stole a stone from there and later put it at the real Stonehenge. When they did rounds to count the stones one day (yes they count the stones) they found the extra, freaked out and called the government. They set up quarantines and brought in investigators until they discovered the hoax.

No I think the spelling Error with the Family Name is intentional. In the Movie Clark says he has relatives in germany and wants to visit them only to end up in the wrong house. I guess tehy wanted to make the name fit because Griswald with an A has german roots, it could be an americanisation of Grieswald and I actually knew someone with the Grieswald Family name. And as for the Guy they actually visited, that is a famous german actor, Willy Millowitsch.

There was enough boob and language to be great viewing for us young lads, and I cant wait to rewatch these classics with my own boys - but these days (as in the remake) it is absolutely vulgar and offensive throughout - I wouldn't want my kids watching the remake. ) As for the critics - they always miss the trick with these kinds of comedies. Yup. I loved his character on Community (one of those characters that you just love to hate) but he is also the reason that the show went off the rails after its third season. His stupid feud with Dan Harmon, who is by no means innocent, all caused by ego. No wonder he stopped finding any work besides the occasional cameo. Nobody wants to deal with him.
@MeltWithU Жыл бұрын
Yep. Him and Bill Murray both have the same reputation. Richard Dreyfuss said that he truly thought that he was bipolar. When they were filming ‘What About Bob’… he said he came back from lunch one day drunk, and put his nose on Richard Dreyfuss‘s nose and told him that he was just tolerated and nobody thought he was talented or wanted him around. Then proceeded to pick up a glass ashtray and threw it at his head. Missing by only a few inches. Dreyfus is convinced that he tried to hit him, but because he was drunk he missed. Said he’s never apologized. So, unfortunately, some of the funniest people in the film are just hateful angry people in real life. I don’t know how anybody in that privileged position could be anything but grateful. But unfortunately, few are.

Honestly the only good thing I heard about him as his wife and daughter think he's a great family man. I'll give him that. Outside of that I totally believe he's a bastard.

I met him once, he was nothing but nice and really funny.

Hotel Manager: [Speaking very quickly in a heavy English accent] "No, no. You're scuppered, mate. It's all gone reels and cotton. This place is full of macaroons. Of course I could get on the dog and bone and call my friend, Jim the Spiv down White Chapel way." Clark: [Types into handheld translator device] Rusty: "Dad, he's speaking English."

The Stone Hinge scene was the best scene in this movie. I always felt they should have had a group of tourists going to see the real Stone Hinge brought to the set when the fake one was destroyed to get some real time reaction to the destruction of Stone Hinge by Clark Griswald. It would have made for a good scene in the mvoie and for a really good laugh for the cast and crew to watch.

European Vacation is my favorite out of the series. I remember when i first saw it i asked my Ma what a bed pan was. When it was explained to me i had a fit of laughter. Then when it sunk in i wanted to throw up. Anyway's TY Minty! You're a bright magnetar in these dismal times.

As a child of the 80s, European Vacation was MY National Lampoon movie! It was shown non-stop on HBO during my formative years!

Imagine having to choose between starring in European Vacation or Weird Science, knowing now how classic both those movies have become over time. There's no bad choice there, but it sucks AMH couldn't be in both. At least he got to be bullied by teen Tony Stark.

Hi Minty. I worked on this movie, and loved your video. Brought back some fond memories. I watch all your videos. Keep up the great work. You're the number 1 film historian on KZbin 👍

I only ever watched this, once, when it came out in the theaters. I watch the others, every couple of years, but, aside from Idle, I didn't find anything funny in this one. However, I have been thinking about watching it again. Your video helped.

I'm willing to bet the Vacation movies take place in alternate dimensions.

Also, towards the end of the movie, when the rest of the family has deserted Clark, he's seen taking what is thought to be the first/earliest selfie ever shown in a movie or TV show.
