The Mighty Ducks was filmed at the New Hope Ice Arena in Minnesota and used the locals as extras. A bunch of us from Cooper High School and Armstrong High School were in the stands and made it into the movie. Definitely something I'll never forget. I worked at a gas station down the road, at the time, and met Emilo Estevez's dad, Martin Sheen when he stopped in late night to buy some gas.

Bro, I was from Osseo and we had shown up to play a fall, or spring league (can’t remember which) at NH Ice Arena only to find out it was canceled because they were filming some movie. We saw some kids in all black uniforms standing around, and were like who the hell are they. Turns out it was the Hawks. 😂😂😂 Great movie showcasing Minnesota hockey.

@@butsy9944 You must remember when they only had the one rink then. It wasn't until after this movie that they could afford the other rink. I don't know for sure if Disney had a role in that or not, but I always suspected they did. Me and my friends used to hang out a lot there and play at the old cement factory behind it. A lot of great memories of that place. They had a couple of arcade games on the bottom floor next to the rink.

Remember the days when Disney would actually make an effort to come up with their own new movie franchise to the point of establishing an entire new hockey team based around it, and didn't just depend on pre-existing properties like Star Wars/Marvel or being as desperate as to pass off remaking all of their own beloved animated classics for live-action? Add on from 11:37 (reason for team name): wasn't Bombay's boss at the law firm's last name Ducksworth (and he was the guy who donated the equipment)? Also; I (barely) recall one year when the NHL had a series of commercials with 'what if' scenarios (with time reversing to show how memorable moments could have not happened). They were all pretty bad, but then fans started making much better fake ones. My favourite one was from this movie, showing the team celebrating the championship with the tag-line at the end being, "What if Bombay didn't blow over 0.08 that night?" EDIT: shocked that I managed to find it. You'll only be able to fully appreciate it if you remember the original NHL ones: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmrYaWSAppdjnZo

As a Canadian this was my favourite movie. Finally a hockey movie for kids Too bad most people don’t realize the real hero of the movie is coach Reilly. The guy volunteered coaching peewee hockey for like 20 years. Won the championship every year but one, when Bombay missed. That’s a completely new group of kids every two years. Helped raise Bombay after his father died and is a major reason he’s a hot hit lawyer. His only flaw is he got upset with Bombay over feeling let down. Bombay on the other hand is a quitter at a young age, grows up to be a jerk. Irresponsibly drunk drives a speeding Porsche down the busy streets. Gets arrested and sent to work with kids somehow. he continues to be a bully most of the movie. First thing he does is sleep with a mother of a kid he’s coaching.

(Cough) I must with all respect MINTY leave some fact corrections about Mighty Ducks animated series and the NHL franchise: 1. 10:31 = The Disney Mighty Ducks animated series had NOTHING to do with the original MD movie(s) more then sharing the same name as Disney created and owned both. That series was a promotional franchise concept for the NHL Anaheim Mighty Ducks as Disney who owned the professional hockey team needed to boost the team's all-around awareness of existence. 2. 13:31 = Well both yes and no here. In 2005 the Anaheim Mighty Ducks was sold by Disney to the multi-millionares Samuelis who are native of Anaheim and Orange County of California, but they kept the "Mighty Ducks" name and logo up to 2006, before the start of the 2006-2007 season. They owned all rights to name and logs, but decided they wanted to rebuild the franchise with a more "classic" design. A new logo, the "D" Ducks/foot logo replaced the WildWing original logo and take away "Mighty" in the name. Also change the original colors of Jade/Purple and replace them with Orange/Black/Gold to more represent there Orange county's native colors. BUT the majority of Ducks fans wants the traditional log and in recent years that have been more brought back to various game jerseys.
