I always thought when Hanks got into his 40's, or early 50's, they should have done a sequel - Small, where he finds the Zoltar machine again because he wants to be young again.

I was watching this film a few days ago. The ending never fails to make me cry so hard. Loved it since I was a kid, I still do. Here is somethings I know about it 1. Robin Williams and Robert De Niro were rumoured to play Josh Baskin. 2.A film similar to this came out the same year as another body swapping film 14 Going on 30 where a teen fell for his school teacher and became a 30 yr old thanks to a growth machine. The ending even got switched which leads me to no 3. 3. The ending where Josh and Susan part ways a suppose ending was filmed where Elizabeth Perkins charcther Susan turned into a teenage version of herself to be with Josh. This was the ending to 14 Going on 30. 4. Elizabeth Perkins developed a crush on Tom Hanks. 5. DC superhero Shazam was based off Big meets Superman. 6. David Moscrow who plays young Josh wore contacts in order to look like Tom Hanks.
@VanielDeeform4 жыл бұрын
Disney65Fan It’s a moving film for sure and cheers for the interesting extra trivia. I think the final one you meant that the Shazam movie was marketed as a cross between BIG & Superman, as Shazam/DC’s Captain Marvel had already bee out as a comic for decades :)
@Thundarr1004 жыл бұрын
@@VanielDeeform I was going to say the same thing about Shazam/Captain Marvel. And I would really like to see that alternate ending to Big where Susan becomes a teenage version of herself in order to be with Josh. It would be interesting, but it would also raise a lot of questions. Like "Where would she live?" and "What will she do for money?" I guess that's why they didn't use it.

*14 Going on 30* was another age-changing movie released in the late '80s. It was made for network TV and aired three months before *Big* premiered in theaters. In fact, this movie's ending (i.e., the grown female love interest has herself reverted to a teenager so that she and the male protagonist can be high school sweethearts) has often been attributed to *Big's* supposed original ending. It has become an urban legend of sorts that the original ending to *Big* had Susan wish for the Zoltar machine to make her a child again so that she and Josh could grow up together -- I've even seen it mentioned in trivia books -- but no such scene exists or was ever shot for *Big.*

I did not realize that "Like father like son" and "Vice versa" where released so close together. Both of those movies are a "reboot" of sorts to "Freaky Friday"(1976) as it's parents and their children swapping bodies. I never associated it with Big, as to me it's a completely different story. I realize the similarities, but honestly it's like one half of Freaky Friday as you don't get the parents side of it. Also, I think you get a pretty good idea of how Harrison Ford would have played this role by watching "Regarding Henry". True that character was always intended as a grown man, but I can't help but think that's how it would have been.
