One of my favorite lesser-known facts about The Burbs is that Ric Ducommun (Art) was the co-founder of the classic skateboard brand SkullSkates, along with his brother, and arranged for the "product placement" of the SkullSkates t-shirt worn by one of Ricky's friends. Thanks for another great one Minty!

The Burbs is at the top of my favorite movie list, easily in the top 10. My wife and I have watched it countless times and use quotes from it all the time. I love how the background sounds, music, and TV bits are synched to the dialogue and actions of the characters. It's juxtaposed like the way old cartoons were made. It's a very interesting film on many levels, and I pick up new things every time I watch it.

This film is yet another reason why I miss the 80s so much and why they were so great. The fact that a zany, quotable, and fun movie like this could be made and released on the big screen is so awesone. It wasnt trying to make any sort of statement it was just trying to entertain us for a couple of hours. The Burbs definitely isn't for everyone but those who get the humor and grew up in the Burbs really love it. As do I. This was back in the days when Hollywood still knew they were in the entertainment business and not the political business

The ‘Burbs is my all time favorite movie. The laughs per minute has to be one of the highest of all time. Theres not one boring scene in this movie. It’s up there with Return Of The Living Dead as far as horror/comedies go. The ‘Burbs being more comedy than horror and ROTLD being the opposite. I miss 80s Tom Hanks SO bad. He’s so good at comedy but you wouldn’t know it if you only watched him from the 90s on And Minty if you’re reading this, I think “Bay Window” refers to the window Ray Peterson was looking out of when he saw the Klopecs digging graves. Iconic scene, along with the dream sequence where Ray is cooked on a 6 foot Weber Grill and Bruce Dern falling through the deck shouting “There go the God Dxmn brownies!” I think my favorite though is when Art cant convince Ray that the Klopecs are evil and mocks him by chanting “I wanna kill… Everyone… Satan is good… Satan is our pal…” 🤣
