I saw a theory that the Tim Allen Santa is the first Santa to survive more than a couple years because of all the extra safety precautions he and Charlie put in. That's why none of the elves are surprised when he shows up in the first movie and why they seem to have forgotten about the Mrs. Clause until the last second in the second move
@JediJared-bs1wt5 күн бұрын
Interesting theory
@williamtodoruk95954 күн бұрын
The Santa Clauses series explains everything. That theory is shot
@WasatchWind2 күн бұрын
That was always my sort of assumption - that they'd had a string of short run Santas for a while - that's why the elves are unenthusiastic. They're all thinking "great, it's happened again. Now we're going to have to go through several years of getting this guy up to speed only for him to not really have his heart in it, or die in an accident before he gains much experience." Bernard's attitude further strengthens this idea."I'm so done with this. You're the new Santa, okay!" After Scott takes on the role of Santa, actually shows excitement and aptitude for it, the elves seem much more invigorated, and in the following film, he's completely renovated the north pole, and they literally say that statistically he has performed better compared to the last few Santas. This further fixes the plot hole of what happened to the past Mrs Clauses - none of the past few Santas ever lasted long enough for that requirement to take affect. It honestly makes for a really nice implied story, of that he restores the job of Santa to a new golden age.
@williamtodoruk95952 күн бұрын
@@WasatchWind they already explained that in the Santa Clauses series. The other Santas were created for the time they served in. Scott was the first santa who was human. So they made the clauses in order to help guide him. There were no Mrs Claus because the magic only made the magical creatures. Scott was human thus needed human companionship.
@WasatchWind2 күн бұрын
@williamtodoruk9595 I'm going to be real, that is kinda boring world building and reminds me why I'm not interested in watching the rest of that series. Also that feels inconsistent with the lore. In the films they act like this is the normal way of things, that the role is passed from person to person, particularly Bernard acting like they've been through this before.

I recently revisited Santa Claus the Movie and he has moved up to being my favorite of the ones I've seen. He is warm and cheerful, but feels very human. He definitely has sleigh skills, and his Mrs. is actually important to the plot. He is really the all-encompassing quintessential Santa. I also think you underestimated his survival skills - after the speech he gave his reindeer at the start of the movie, and he does seem to know the world has changed through the ages. A close second for me is the Santa from Ernest Saves Christmas. He is very jovial and kind. His presence makes children perk up, he convinced a bunch of in-mates to believe in him and start singing Christmas carols. His failing is the very reason for the movie; that he loved his job so much, he was unwilling to pass the torch on until he absolutely had to. He also turned out to be a good judge of character with his choice, and his childlike trust in Ernest winds up paying off. He also seems to get a Mrs. at the tail end.

Not saying the outcomes are wrong but Polar Express and Miracle on 34th St Santa’s were done dirty in evaluating their evaluations. If counting the resources/North Pole available to them, Polar Express Santa has an industrial metropolis at his disposal - including complex and advanced technology. Also definite time manipulation. Miracle on 34th street needs some more points in magic and survival instinct. His magic is subtle - does not flaunt it. But fluent in all forms of communication is pretty magical to me. Also possibly influenced a pregnancy. It’s hard to tell where his magic is at play which is part of its charm. Also on survival instincts, he’s solid with both his cane and whip. Maybe a bit of a temper, but he was provoked because it was being implied that he was having relations with children - not that someone was doubting his authenticity - which seems more excusable than how the video presented it.

Here's an unusual Santa Claus. The Ultimate Christmas Present is a Disney Channel movie about two young girls, Hailee and Samantha, who come across a shack in a forest near their suburban neighborhood and discover a stange machine that seems to be able control the weather. Turns out that the inventor is Santa Claus who is away from the North Pole while he works on his invention. Santa wanted a way to control the weather so that he could provide a controlled White Christmas to those who wish it. Hailee steals the machine to create a snow day to get out of school, but the machine breaks down and things get out of control. Santa (Canadian actor John B. Lowe) discovers the theft of his machine and works with the girls to recover it. Lowe's Santa is a warm, sensible, and active one as he searches for his machine with the help of his two assistant elves and the girls. He also takes the time to provide some counseling to Hailee on her personal issues and Edwin the villain of the story. Perhaps not as powerful a Santa but a creative and distinctive one.

ok, no this, no that, no grinch. but what about the hogfather? or death filling in for the hogfather when Tea Time uses the tooth fairy's tooth collection to control the minds of children to stop believing in the hogfather?

Could you do Krampus next if that’s a possibility?

SO MANY great Santa's. (Bias: If there's a movie with Santa, I've probably seen it, and enjoyed it. Even ones that have come out this winter...) There were other "Miracle on 34th Street" Santa's, inlcuding Sebastian Cabot (1973), and Ed Wynn (1959). There's Art Carney, who's been Santa several times: "The Twilight Zone: The Night of the Meek" (1960) (Okay, technically he was Henry Corwin), "The Great Santa Claus Switch" (1970), and "The Night They Saved Christmas" (1984). (I note Ed Asner's been Santa in several other outings too.) And there's all the Santa's from "Rare Exports" (2010), (most of whom are actually elves) who are often naked. And of course Stephen Hughes, who was split into "Santa" and "Claus" in "Santa vs. Claus" (2008). And SO MANY more (okay, not all are great...). As always thank you so very much for the videos.

Came here to say this myself, don't think he'd win but he'd at least been fun to see. He'd dominate the survival skills section.
