My cousin introduced his daughter to He-Man and She-Ra, and she was like, "Princesses can have SWORDS!?" They dressed up one Halloween with her as She-Ra, my cousin as He-Man, and his wife as the Empress. They went to a local park that has a castle gate entrance and some decorative towers and filmed the most epic Halloween video ever. So absolutely show your kids! If I had one, it'd be a steady diet of all the old 80's cartoons I grew up on. Nothing modern.

@@nobodyimportant2470 The Last Unicorn had a topless three-breasted Harpy that murders people, a Unicorn that transforms into a nude woman and an enchanted tree that grows massive boobs and tries to smother a guy with them. But, go to any classical art museum and just walk around. People nailed to crosses, naked ladies bound to slaughtered bulls, gladiators killing people... Cheetara's fuzzy bossoms are probably no stranger than Snarf not wearing pants in Thunderan culture.

I remember how just the small amount of footage from the trailer got me curious about Thundercats. I quickly went out in search of the Thundercats DVDs. I was also very quickly pulled into the 2011 series excitement during my early adult years, and I have a great deal of love for both versions of the characters and their adventures. I remember when this show initially aired in ‘85. I was hooked. Two things to look for: 1.) there is audio of the VO bloopers that’s hilarious. A2.) read ThunderCats: The Return by Wildstorm/DC. It’s about Lion-O entering the Book of Omens for more training, but is unknowingly trapped there for years. When he returns, MummRa has won. The reveals of what happened to Cheetara and WilyKit & WilyKat are very dark.

Having watched the show back in the day and as an adult with my kids I came to a conceptual understanding of the show that is deeper than most. The cartoon is actually not about alien cat people, mutants, or immortal mummy devils! It's about three powerful red stones, possibly from space or another dimension, possessing abnormal powers and functions. The first red stone is the 'Mystic Eye of Thundara' which psychically bonds to it's possessor. It will come to your hand, give you psychic visions, and project your intentions. The Sword of Omens is not The Eye of Thundara. As Panthro states in the series, he can easily create another sword but could never duplicate the Eye of Thundara. The swords power is a type of metal expanding effect which most of the Thundercats weapons or armor have and is part of the Thundarians advanced science. Cheetaras' staff, Tigra's whip, Panthro's armor, all use this same metal expanding technology. The other two red stones are embedded in the head of Mum-Ra and make him immortal, able to fly, change shape, basically cast his psychic will on others. Knowing now that the cartoon was made in Japan helps to explain the extraordinary level of quality in it's art and animation. I assume that Silverhawks was also created there as it is essentially a sister show to Thundercats. Having the moral lessons woven into the writing was much better than the cheesy PSA end spots in cartoons like He-Man and GI Joe. My favorite lesson from a Thundercats episode was from when Lion-O was speaking with Willa about who would win in a battle between him and Hachiman. Lion-O said that Hachiman would win because of his experience. Willa said that Hachiman believed that Lion-O would win due to his youthful speed and dexterity. Lion-O answered the query with a powerful statement that brought me to tears. "The truth is. Nobody wins in a duel!"

Bonus Fact: Nudity -The cats were naked in Episode One. After they land on 3rd Earth, they explain how they have to start to wear armor/clothing to fit in. It's so weird to see as an adult

Another great trip down memory lane. Honestly, who didn't just have a big box of action figures and make their own Thundercats, He-Man, Silverhawks, TMNT, GI-Joe crossovers?

Thundora? It's Thundera.. "Thun-dare-ra" Swords of Omens?? it's a single sword not a pair.. Sword of Omens. "Lion L" it was "Lion El" it was about the trains it was changed due to comparisons to Superman "Alien from a doomed planet, with the last name EL" When Thundercats Debuted, it became School Homework for more than 40,000 grade-schoolers “teachers will ask their students to watch ThunderCats when they get home and be ready to discuss the lessons learned in the program the following day.” Parents began naming their daughters Cheetara. Producers targeted their advertising to parents. It may have had a large cast of characters, but the entire first season of ThunderCats featured just six actors - each with incredible range! The Thundercats' home planet of Thundera was technically destroyed by their mentor Jaga. Milla Jovovich wanted to play Cheetara, in a Live Action Movie

I remember being disappointed and confused why the Thundercats Action figures were so much bigger (and slightly less quality) than the He-Man action figures, too big to play with He-Man at the same time. 😂

I remember when it first aired in my area. they had it come on at 7:30 or 8:00pm which was weird on its own, but then every airing after, they only ran the same episode. it was never a part of my Saturday morning cartoons on the big 3 ABC NBC and CBS. those were the only channels we could get then besides the public station. as I recall they aired Thundercat's either before or after the Disney show. that was so weird they did that, especially now with hindsight. I downloaded the Thundercat's original episodes and its one of the few that was good enough to entertain me even now. it doesn't come off cheesy and stupid like so many others I've tried to watch again.

maybe it's the accent but the home planet is Thundera, it sounded like Minty says Thundura. Also Tygra is pronounced like 'ty-gra' instead of 'Teegra'. Last I swear I heard Panthra instead of Panthro

It's ThundEra. Not ThundOra like you mispronounced it. Also It might be spelled Tigra, but you mispronounced that as well. It's pronounced like TYgra. Not sure how old you are, but it seems doubtful you have ever seen the show when it was on the air, and the mispronunciation calls your credibility into question.
