I've used the mike functionality in Project Mirai DX for 3DS. You can get the attention of your Vocaloid character by calling them on the mike, though it doesn't always work for me. I was also able to use it to blow out the candles on the cake the game presented me on my birthday! I think the regular DS had that mike functionality too though. I remember you could use the mike to yell "Objection!" or "Hold it!" during trials in the first Phoenix Wright game.
