As a consumer and creator, I can appreciate a video like this. I’ve learned that you can’t please everyone nor connect with everyone. Being yourself and respecting others is all you can do. I think you do that well.

What’s good about KZbin is everyone has the choice to click on any video and watch or not. Personally, I enjoy watching your channel. That’s why I subscribe to both of them. Doesn’t matter to me where you’re fishing, just that you’re fishing. I love God. The scripture at the end of your videos means a lot to me. Don’t stop posting it. I also love fishing. I just don’t get to go enough. Sure, I notice your baits, but they aren’t my primary focus. Enjoying the outdoors while fishing is my focus. No matter what you do you’ll never please everyone. I say keep up the good work. Most importantly, keep being yourself man. 👍

I’ve been on KZbin for a year now and it can be tough at times when you’re juggling a full time job and family time. Personally I do this because I enjoy making the videos and I’ve recently learned that if for some reason I can’t be consistent on releasing videos, to not let it bother me, like it has. Work and family comes before making videos. So it’s truly a blessing when I have the time to share my time on the water in a video.

You were all over the place about the algorithm thing John. Let me set everyone straight. From someone in computers for 30 years, I can tell you what that refers to is when a video has enough statistics in a short amount of time from being posted (views, comments, watch time, likes etc) to hit certain triggers in the youtube code, youtube automatically then begins to promote it (recommend it) to more and more people who may or may not be into that type of video content, hence getting you cross genre viewership, thus generating more statistics (if more people continue to watch it) making youtube promote it even more and more, and when the viewer numbers get super high (hundreds of thousands, millions, tens of millions etc) that is what's referred to as "going viral". Like a virus "everyone catches it" meaning everyone is watching it, it's very popular. The further into the algorithm your video makes it before the statistics eventually drop off/slow down, typically the more money will be made from that video. Thats about the simplest way to explain it, even though there are various levels and triggers and much more nuance to it.

I know we all dislike the ads, but if they're less than a minute thirty, I'll watch in full, ONLY because it helps John monetarily. And as far as Patreon mentioned elsewhere, I'd be up for it in John's case because of the verses at the end. They are ultimately more important than the videos.

One of the other things from the KZbinr aspect is that as a content creator you need to find who YOU are and not compare yourself to others. We are all different and have different goals for our journeys. I love getting inspiration from other fishing content creators and I should always celebrate the success of my peers instead of being sad that I have not reached the same milestones as another content creator.

You can please all the people, some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you can't please all the people all the time..... It's impossible for you not to share your locations in a video. I live in your same general location and I have fished some of your or my honey holes. Not to worry, I don't fish as much as I once did but I am a member of Chattanooga fishing forum or I may still be, I haven't checked in a long time. Me and my fishing buddy used to post pictures of our trips. We really didn't think about the background of our photos until we started to notice somebody sitting on all our favorite spots. Needless to say we stopped posting photos with any background in the pics. Thanks for sharing and have a Blessed Day!!!

I love the way you keep it real John! As someone who has tried ( and pretty much failed) as a KZbinr, I can fully appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into all your videos. You aren't going to please everyone and thats ok, as long as God is pleased with you, thats all that matters. Thank you for taking us along on all your adventures John.

Hey I just watched your creek fishing video, your dang good at it. I started fishing in a creek, You taught me a lot. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and the time it took to make this video. Also great job on making this video. I subscribed half way through the video. Keep up making them. I know there genuine cause I’m 68 yrs old and taught my 5 kids wading creeks. My oldest son took his 4year old daughter creek fishing and she caught her 1st bass! Nice one. In the same creek I took him at 4 and he caught his 1st bass. Great life lesson. I like the scripture you put on! Keep the faith. Don’t pay attention to the goobers complaining on comments. I’ll pray for them and give them to God! He can take care of them and bless them.👍🥸🙏

I really appreciate you showing what baits you use. I got some of the Bobby Garland baby shad in electric chicken color and it’s been amazing for me. I have caught a lake trout that was about 24” and a northern pike that was close to 36” using those. Both times I was fishing off of a small bridge, about 10’ up and had been hoping for a smallmouth instead of all the yellow perch we could see. Sometimes you have to change the color or size from what you show but I rarely ever used plastics for anything other than largemouth at only one lake. Sometimes I have to look for a less expensive similar lure to something you show because I know I have a tendency to get snagged, especially if I’m learning a new technique. My husband has a channel and it can be very frustrating. His earlier videos were on a small video camera that required putting it on the computer and using editing software and it wasn’t easy to do. I know it can take long hours to get a short video. Keep up the good work.

I hate that you had to take the time to do this John. You are one of the premier content providers. We who love your work watch to be informed on techniques and insights of your personal experience. I do not want to know the location of your fishing holes. I can assure all of those people who want to know the "where" that most likely even if they knew the "where" they would not have the same results as you do. Not to mention that there most likely would not be any room at the ramps. 😂 Folks get out there and explore, find your own favorite spots. Or if you just want to catch fish hire a guide.

What you said about the $20 lure, that's the problem with out-of-control greed and soaring costs and profit margins today... People are handling money all wrong. Something "being expensive" has nothing to do with how much money you personally have. Something is "expensive/overpriced" when it costs more than it's obviously worth. It's relative cost compared to the amount of money you have is irrelevant! This is reality. The reality is NO lure is worth more than $5 tops (which is already pushing it) unless it contains precious metals/gems, rare earth minerals, or some kind of advanced electronics. In which case your an idiot to use something like that for a fishing lure that gets snagged and lost fairly regularly. Fishing lures are made out of composite plastics and sustainable wood, metal, and metal hooks. Their barely worth a couple dollars in all honesty and cost pennies to manufacture in most cases. The problem is rich people stop seeing things from reality, they don't care what it costs because "they can afford it". So, companies keep raising prices because rich dummies will pay it "because they can". While the rest of us "not rich" slowly (much faster in the last 50 years) get squeezed out of the world, and life. Stop buying things that are clearly rip-offs, just "because you can" and you want it, Thats not a reason to overpay for something, and not what a smart person would do. (your smart, aren't ya?) It just makes you a rich idiot, and it ruins the world a little bit more each time for someone less successful/fortunate than you. Stop being greedy selfish pricks.

You are big enough now that you have a dedicated audience ( US ) and doesn't matter what kind of video you post we will watch it...The higher viewed videos for you will be something that is searched for on you tube. So that video will have ( US ) watching it and also random people that your video popped up in their search....So when you start applying this more often now then the next time you come to Northern Arkansas you owe me a fishing trip...Ill take you to Spring River in Arkansas. Curioius; what bait shop did you get this click bait? Or did you go out early in the morning and dig up this bait yourself? EVERYONE KNOWS titles that include "Things that YOU don't know" are ALL Click BAIT. Its a psychological manipulation. And frankly, its kinda scummy.
