@00:30 - Just an FYI: The word SITH appeared on the Star Wars bedsheets I had as a kid in the late 70s. They had multiple characters on them with their names. Beneath Vader it said DARTH VADER and beneath that in smaller letters it read DARK LORD OF THE SITH. I think that may have been the first use of the term in merchandising (unless you count the novel as merch)
@dogenjinn4806 Жыл бұрын
I agree. Everywhere Darth Vader was merchandised he was "Dark Lord of the Sith." Ten year old me pulled down the family dictionary and look up "sith," "vader," and "darth." I found out that darth was a word that meant "dark," vader was a word that meant "father," and sith was an archaic version of the word "since." So, back in the 70s I knew Darth Vader meant "dark father" and he had knowledge of stuff that was in the past. Totally unrevealing to ten year old me after the one movie, but something I thought about for a bit.

Jabba was NEVER intended to be human. The actor who played him was just meant to be a stand in and Lucas was going to cover him up with a stop-motion creature but they couldn’t make it work well enough with the little time and money that was available. Han’s line about Jabba being a “Wonderful human being” was sarcasm. Parts of the scene were shown in a bts doc narrated by Mark Hamill in 1983 and it said back then that the plan was always to make Jabba a big creature of some kind.
@mikeg5397 Жыл бұрын
That's what Lucas said 20 years after he made the movie. Why else would he be in costume?
@MichaelLayneWeston Жыл бұрын
@@mikeg5397 Reference. He was supposed to be a hairy creature. The artist for the Marvel tie-in comic knew he was supposed to be an alien, but didn't know anything beyond that and so he just chose one of the cantina aliens as a model.

@@mikeg5397 for the same reason that Ahmed Best wore a Jar Jar costume on the set of the prequels, even though he was always going to be replaced with CGI. It makes it easier for the other actors to perform. Imagine Harrison Ford doing a scene with Jabba dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt!

If you were the actress that played Han's lady friend in the cantina discovering your scene was cut from the film would be disappointing. After Star Wars became a runaway box office success you'd be devastated. I bet she still thinks to this day that her opportunity to be a notable character in the franchise was unfairly taken from her. The actors who played Luke's friends on Tattooine also got did dirty with the exception of the actor who played Biggs.
@abe199611 ай бұрын
Unfairly taken from her? What's unfair about it? 😂
@1977TA10 ай бұрын
@nzrugbyvidz1033 Definitely. It was the setup to their meeting in the rebel hanger before the assault on the Death Star. Without the setup, Biggs appears to be some random guy Luke is happy to see. When Biggs was killed in action his death did not have impact because the context of his friendship with Luke was cut from the film.
@folgore110 ай бұрын
When I saw Star Wars in the theater in 1977, it really surprised me that Luke seemed to know all the other fighter pilots in the final Death Star battle. The Biggs scene would have set up Luke's relationships with Biggs and the other pilots properly. Acting is a tough business with everyone hoping to get their big break. For all the actors with minor roles in SW who saw their roles cut, it must've really hurt. I'd even include David Prowess in this category since he was expecting to have a speaking role in the film only to have his voice replaced by James Earl Jones. The success of the film shows that the right artistic decisions were made but they came at a human cost.
@apphappy379610 ай бұрын
Yes Biggs was in the cut scene however reappears in the "Last Battle" and inside rebellion temple on Yavin as "Biggs" explains to Gold Leader that "He's The Best Bush Pilot.." to handle the X-Wing in battle. So there you have it

It's my opinion that C3PO's origin story should have been that he's part of QUEEN Amidala's royal entourage. He speaks all these languages, knows protocol and etiquette, and he's shiny, metallic, and expensive looking, just like Queen Amidala's Naboo starship. He's the perfect companion for a royal diplomat who has to represent her people, communicate with other dignitaries who may not speak her language, and not accidentally offend different cultures on other planets. And they could have made R2D2 be a flight computer navigator SIM card that Anakin programmed and created to help him race pods better. Then later, he carries this SIM card with him and inserts it into an empty R2 shell or something. Something that small, cheap, and mechanical would have been perfect and affordable for a slave boy to create. C3PO just seemed too expensive and unnecessary for a slave boy to build, as an assistant. If Anakin NEEDED to build ANY kind of droid it would be more like Tony Stark's fire extinguisher robot in Iron Man, who helps Tony build stuff and put out fires.

There were a lot of these that were interesting. I for one would have loved a Human/Humanoid Alien version of Jabba (In the Marvel Comic Adaptation he was an Ape-like being) I would have also liked the use of the Word "Sith" in that which we now call "A New Hope" (Yes, the Marvel Comic Adaptation used it in a narrative describing Vader) As for Biggs and co, guess where I found out about them ? (Hint: A certain Comic Adaptation) I'm not going to mention the Greedo business again, I saw it (and a certain Comic Book Adaptation showed it too) Let's face it, when you're a mean old git like me and you read most of the Comic Book Adaptation before actually seeing Star Wars (Yes I'm that old it wasn't called a New Hope yet) Certain things stick in your memory. I also found it quite amusing that after mentioning said Comics, I realised that The House of Mouse now own both Lucasfilm and Marvel. Great list and my favourite Christiensen moment was the "Sound of Music" Parody in "Attack of the Clones" also finding out that Hayden is Canadian was quite a surprise - What? WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE A PARODY OF THE SOUND OF MUSIC? No Parody? Denied! Cheers Gareth!

Trying to find where Han Solo's coat on Hoth lost it's white piping on the sleeves. It was there in theaters when I first saw the movie. It is now currently gone, maybe because they repurposed the coat for Rogue 1? Andor wears that same coat on Jedha. Makes sense that Han wouldn't have that coat to borrow during ESB - except it could've been found among Rebel supplies, because Andor didn't wear it to Scariff and they didn't take much with them. I think they should've kept it all.

It was from the Simpsons when Homer went skiing and Flanders scared Homer when he came up and stopped near Homer on the ski slope. He said that his skin tight ski suit was like wearing "nothing at all!", when Homer tried to remember how to ski while taking moguls to the groin he sees Flanders saying "Feels like I am wearing nothing at all! nothing at all! nothing at all!" then Homer says "Stupid sexy Flanders". LOL.. Love that part.. Old Simpsons is so much better than New Simpsons.

The Han Solo Trilogy ended with Boba Fett stopping Han in an alley while he was going to prep the Falcon for the flight to Alderaan. Fett made a promise to Han's first love, Bria Theren, to inform her father in the event of her death during the early Rebellion. Fett passed the message to Han to ensure it got to him. -- Fun fact: Lando's reference to "after what you pulled" and Han's response to Chewbacca's question "that was a long time ago" is a reference to a heist that Han and Bria staged against Durga the Hutt. They freed all his slaves and destroyed his spice business, with the pretense that Han and the smugglers he assembled would take a share of the looting...shared with the young Rebellion. The Rebellion ended up betraying the smugglers and Han was blamed for it. Han tried going to Lando for help after losing Jabba's shipment only to be decked. He became a pariah of Nar Shadaa after that.

I feel like it fit. Han is a bad ass. He doesn't get intimidated and wasn't going to let Jabba push him around. @M.E.plusminus10 ай бұрын
He didn´t get the Falcon in any scene, but he co-pilotes it with Chewbacca bc he knows the ship nearly as good as Solo himself. That´s why Han borrows him the Falcon in Return of the Jedi for a single specific mission. And Lando wears Han´s pilot clothes at the end of Empire Strikes Back bc he didn´t really had the time to get his own stuff with him, so he borrowed some of Han´s wardrobe on board of the Falcon. It also makes clear that he & Han are still Bro´s + he´s now part of the group.
