The Canary Islands are one of the poorest regions in Spain, the only thing the arrival of digital nomads achieves is to impoverish the local population even more since, among other things, the locals cannot pay rent because the Europeans come with much more money and they are willing to pay much higher rents. The only thing that is being achieved is destroying the economy of a place that, far from being paradise as they describe it, is the home of many people.
