Love that you call it ‘hooting’ / ‘hooters’. That’s funny for us Americans. We call them horns / honking. I’m switching to hooting.
@fishhuntadventure2 жыл бұрын
So you say ‘I don’t give a hoot’ versus ‘I don’t give a honk’ because the latter would be rude… And in north america hooting is done by an owl while honking is geese and horns, and hooting by humans will get you slapped by most females you’re not paying $500 for. …some company.

All these seem obvious, but some people are actually clueless, so it's handy info. One less obvious one worth mentioning, and it applies all around SEAsia and South Asia....the roads are almost always chaos, so when you need to cross a road by foot, be decisive and walk at a normal slowish pace and everything will flow around you....NEVER run across a road or you're just asking for trouble! 🚑

Hey there Lawrence. There are private hospitals with pretty good doctors. There are also a lot of expat specialist doctors. For your specific problems i think you would need to do a bit of investigating to find out. Joining Facebook groups are always a good place to start. You can engage with the community already set up here to find out if anyone is already in the same boat. A good back back up is Singapore and Kuala Lumpur which are short flight away. They have world class medical facilities there.

Thanks for the video! Going to Bali soon… by the way, I’ve had my luggage lost twice already, once arriving in Delhi and once arriving in Bangkok. My advice is to ALWAYS bring a spare change of clothes in your hand luggage. Some airlines will give you some cash right away to go shopping though. And I’ve been bitten by a stray dog in Thailand, needed to get rabies shots. Might be good to look up hospitals where you can get the shots in case you do get bitten, you need to get them within a day or so after getting bitten. Or get the shots in advance…

GREAT tips!! I'm going in a couple of weeks and honestly pretty terrified of the dog situation, especially after reading about the increased cases of rabies. I'm generally pretty wary of dogs to begin with and this bit about dogs in Bali is quite off-putting. Are there ways I can make myself as unattractive to dogs as possible?? Or if they start following me, how can I ward them off?

If so where did you find was the best place to stay? Baie dankie from @aimandvision the South African American and Baby.

We’ve lived in Bali for over 2 years in total. Never had any problems with mosquitos. Recently though, there have been cases of Dengue graver. For places to stay we have a whole video explaining the difference between each place. Our personal favourite was Pererenan and Seseh but recent development in the Canggu area has made it more undesirable to live.

Great info for newbies to Bali for sure but one point you mentioned broadly that I do not agree with, as a frequent traveller to Bali, is that you mentioned people get Bali Belly from the water, yes correct and the street food, not so correct. Most get it from Buffets and westernised restaurants. I eat from local warungs, markets and street food every trip, rarely eat anywhere else and have NEVER gotten Bali belly. If the street food vendor, local warung etc is very busy with locals it is generally safe to eat there. If eating a buffet at a restaurant/accommodation breakfast, eat when the food goes out not an hour or so later. Food from local warungs, street food and markets is so darn good and mentioning that people will get Bali belly from it, in the generalised manner in which you have, only scares people from having delicious cheap food.
