I am West Australian born and raised, but I have to admit that if I was going to live anywhere else, it would be Melbourne. Every time I have been there I have really enjoyed (for want of a better word) the ‘vibe’ of the place. There always seem to be fascinating things happening - concerts, exhibitions, festivals, restaurants, and the residents are generally friendly. If only the weather wasn’t so lousy!

I'm a Japanese who is living in Melbourne for a long time as a working holiday visa holder. I've been to some famous places such as St. Kilda, Victoria library, Fitzroy and stuff like that. I like the vibe here and I would like to stay longer if possible. But, I might have to go back to Japan earlier than I've expected by any chance for some reasons. So, during the rest of my stay here, I'm going to visit other places and get along with other people! And above all, I would like to improve my English skills, especially speaking. I'm thinking that I'm trying to watch your channel to practice listening skills. Thank you.

I live in Adelaide, near a Muslim community. I went to a local supermarket and found four different brands of Yerba Mate on the shelves. It seems that workers from the Middle East who went to South America developed a taste for it, and now it is being exported to the Middle East.

I’ve been watching your videos since the beginning of the year, and I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy them. As someone born and raised in Melbourne, I’ve seen the city from many angles, having moved from Frankston to Footscray at the end of 2017. I truly love the diversity and vibrancy here, and your videos capture that spirit beautifully. Thank you for sharing your unique perspective on what Melbourne and Australia have to offer. It’s refreshing to see our home through the eyes of someone who wasn’t born here, yet has embraced it so wholeheartedly. Your content has been incredibly inspiring, and it’s people like you who have motivated me to start my own channel. Please keep up the amazing work-you're making a real impact!

It seems that getting hold of a good property is quite tough in Melbourne (and all around AU capital cities). I visited Melbourne in Nov last year and had a bad experience when I visited the City Centre. There was a south Indian festival going on and there were many flies. I also did not like the fact that there is no mass trainsit rail system connecting city centre to the airport. The bus pass “Myki” was bought but I could not return back at the airport and still have money it. I see many things lined up and improvements coming soon though. Looking forward to seeing those.

I think that Melbourne is the best choice for young people trying to find an international point, with international culture, with all the advantages of first world living, and with old european culture. I am 69 years old and if I could return to the past I will of course make my choice in Melbourne. I am happy that my children are there. Cheers martina!!

This videos was very helpful! I'm moving to Melbourne in May and was looking for information since I don't know much about the city. In your experience there, do you think it's easy to find a place to rent? I don't want to spend too much money in hostels while waiting for a place to live.
@livingsimplyaustralia25 күн бұрын
Glad to hear the videos are helpful :) Regarding your question, during the past years, it is true that competition for rental properties and prices, especially in inner city suburbs has gone up significantly (what you could get for 400pw, is now 450/500 pw for example). Having said that, renting is not impossible as many people and the media portray (most of my friends are still able to find rentals, even in inner city suburbs - so it's not all doom and gloom - even back in 2019 you'd compete against other 20 people for an apartment in Fitzroy or East Melbourne (I've been there), but if you go to other areas where supply is relatively higher than demand, it shouldn't be that bad). As long as you are flexible in terms of areas to live in (perhaps a bit further from the CBD or beaches)/and property type, and you are able to show payslips or a bank account demonstrating you've got income to cover rent for the period of your rental contract and have good references, you should be fine. Also, realistically, you should allocate a minimum of 3-4 weeks until you find a place to live in (between researching and inspections you can expect that amount of time as a min.). I have a few videos on how to rent property in Australia, you may want to check that out :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5O2gKubg8iFgdU
