In 1933 my father's fraternity in Ames Iowa hired the Ozzie Nelson Band. One of the highlights of my Dad's life was winning the evening's door prize which was a dance with the band's singer, Harriet Hilliard. He got a lot of mileage out of that story and it was his one, brief association with show business.
