My friend hamster (who wasnt taken care of very well, a day before her hopefully natural death date, the cage was super dirty and the food hadn't been changed for months, so me and my other friend cleaned it my other friends family also has four hamsters and the first friend didn't even notice until we lectured her. Her bathing powder was expired, which meant she hadnt been bathed for two years) would let me hold her but not my first friend her owner. Payback for saying you take care of your hamster when your helper does the work and not very well either she didn't care a lot about the hamster and when she died she said it casually. The friend is nice, and good to hang out with, but I hope she doesn't get another hamster and if she does she'll take care of it well

I just recently found out that hamster urine on pine or cedar bedding causes a dangerous chemical reaction. I knew that kind of bedding subjects hamsters to respiratory ailments. I wouldn't use pine or cedar for a hamster, but they are all different like people. Even their toilet habits are different. Some will pick a corner of the cage to pee in which will make it easy to train them to use the litter box, some will pee in their sandbath, some will pee on their exercise wheel, and some will pee all over the bedding. I've even seen one pee by lifting its hind legs in kind of a "handstand" and pee right through the bars of the cage and make a pee puddle on the floor.

I see comments that say, 'Oh but I did this before with him/her and they're fine!' No. I've owned hamsters all my life and every bit of this video is true. Pine and Cedar beddings can cause a lot of harm to your hammy, and even if it does not seem like it, sooner or later the harm will show. Don't bathe your hamster in ANY water, even if it's just a little bit. The natural oils that keep it clean and dry will be washed away, and your hammy is once again at the risk of danger. Just listen to the video, and please, no 'buts' about it, because if you're an actual good owner and you love your hamster, you'd listen to the video. I'm not trying to be rude, but before you feed your hamster something, or use something on them (bedding, toys, etc.) look it up and do some research to see if it's safe!

I did look at fucking research and a lot of videos did tutorials on how to bathe your hamster dumbass. This is just one video that said that u can't. It's the only video I've seen that said this shit that u can't bathe your hamster. All of the other stuff is true though. Just not the bathing one. U can actually bathe your hamster and it won't hurt them I've had my hamster for almost 1 1/2 years now, and I bathe him like once in 2 weeks and he's totally fine. Don't listen to these people. I mean, I have a Syrian hamster, and he's fine with it, but I don't know about dwarf hamsters or other kinds of hamsters that will get harmed because of it, but mine is fine. I know that u can't bathe chinchillas because of their thick fur, maybe it's like that for OTHER types of hamsters as well. But FYI, MINES OK WITH IT.

Or teach the hamster to crawl into a large cup/mug (not hard, since they love hiding places), carry the cup to a place where you can sit down and let the hamster out there... that's what we do, it works :)

1:56 try foraging (you obviously don't have to). Foraging pretty much is where you sprinkle food around the cage instead of putting in a bowl. Putting food in a bowl can sometimes lead to your hamster becoming a picky eater. They can also become picky eaters if they are fed regularly. They only really need to be fed every 2-3 days.
