Great video man, thanks. I came more for the theory than to learn these specific riffs. I got a little lost a couple of times but I got enough to want to watch the whole thing again. I’ve been making a lot of “breakthroughs” lately and this is clicking with me in ways that it would not have just a year ago! Thanks!

Cool. Looks like a little bluegrass would be good to know for those open position scales.

Super cool video. You could probably even do a series of teaching each song/riff in a separate video and get some good views.

This guitar sounds good. Is it a J45?

Hi how'd you know it was mixolydian and not Dorian
@MTGuitar10 күн бұрын
Hi Sam, well they are similar modes! But, the b3 is a passing note to the 3, so we know it's Mixolydian and not Dorian. In Dorian, we wouldn't go to the 3 (unless it was passing between b3 and 4).

@@MTGuitarI had an Advanced Jumbo that was exactly the same.... I've not heard them called Southern Jumbo....has it got open back machine heads ?
@Mychordchronicles8 күн бұрын
@@glennwoods2462 Not quite, Advanced Jumbo's are different as they have rosewood back and sides, forward shifted "advanced" bracing, and a long 25.5" scale. Souther Jumbo's are short 24.75" scale, mahogany back and sides, and standard x-bracing (sometimes scalloped).

Enjoyed this. Not a rip on you because it’s how it’s done but the diagram of the frets and strings is upside down and backward from the guitar you’re playing here. Maybe take some liberties, and tell the viewers, by flipping the diagram to match the guitar we’re looking at. I’ve been playing for a lonnnng time and it still takes some figuring to flip the situation on top of trying to learn something. Said the grumpy old man. 😊

Guitar tabs or tabulature always have the lowest sounding string on the guitar represented as the the lowest string on the tab diagram …. Tabs also have the highest sounding strings on top of the diagram …. Fretboard diagrams are constructed the same way with the lowest sounding string on the bottom of the page and vice versa. Keep playing … you’ll get used to it! 😊 it’s just part of the musical “language” of Guitar!
