Yes, practice can separate someone from the rest, but he has to have that natural ability as a starting point. Someone lacking in talent is not going to be the best regardless of how much he practices.

These defencemen need to play the body. If Bedard is coming down on you one on one… forget the puck, take the body and good things will happen. But right when you look at the puck, and you can see it in there eyes ( especially the last one ) Bedard will shed you, and you will be on plays of the year… but not for a good reason.

Idk how they are teaching players these days, I'm a 87 birth yr, I played against Crosbys peewee team at the Quebec world championship tourny, been teammates on team USA with kessel, just to provide context for what I'm gonna say....what u just said was a absolute no brainer to the extent that we were never aware there was any other options, that's all we were rver taught, forget the puck-play the body, every sibgle tine period. There are guys out there who can do damn near magical shit with that puck if u are gonna be a player who doesn't engage immediately and allow them the opportunity to throw u in their spin cycle so to speak .. that applies for every scenario not jusy one on ones obviously, take the body, it's not the NFL or football in any way where u have to wait on the receiver to catch a pass so you can hit them lol its fuckin hockey, take the puck out of the equation along with their superior stick handling skills and be smart about what ur doing. Giving someone that kinda space at this level especially is begging to be on a sportscenter highlight reel getting cooked... I had a younger brother who played about five yrs younger , and they were already starting to teach them kids to shy away from fighting, and to be extremely careful when hitting and all this newer shit we see now that's changed the game a bit. N look I'm 5'6, 180 lbs, bot the biggest guy but was aleays the most physical everywhere I played, but I was always a high skill guy so I'm all for the open ice, and letting the talent shine instead of trying to glorify less talented guys being relevant just cuz of physicality. BUT, that's also the beauty to the game of hockey and the reason why it's been a self-government game on That ice, u go after the best players, someones gonna make u pay for it wuth their fists or by lining u up and just running your shit. It's always kept the game honest and allowed everyone to find their own set of skills that fit them and if they r not physical, that's ok they have someone specifically for just that reason. When guys becone afraid to lay someone out with a clean hit, or drop those gloves and make someone bleed n risk their own skin as well, the game of hockey will no longer be the sport weve come to love

Kid is a cherry picker. No back check. No hustle. Not impressed. Over hyped. He will be the biggest flop in the NHL.
@XxKidnoffxX8 ай бұрын
Dude, he gonna learn to back check and play in D zone in the NHL. He just NEVER need to do that in his young career. It was the same for Ovy, Lafleur, Gretsky and a lot of great player like that. They just never need to play defense in junior, they are too good in offense. But for your information, you can't learn to be offensive and score goal, but you can learn how to play defense. He gonna learn, I have no doubt about it.
@guymajor71038 ай бұрын
